Alistair “The Reem” Overeem from Golden Glory goes into 2010 with a Bang!
The Dynamite show on NYE in Tokyo, Japan is an epic event returning each year on New years eve.
This time the promoters from K-1 joined venture with Sengoku and this resulted in the first sold out Saitama Super Arena 46000+ in Japan since the downfall of Pride.
Entering the big Saitama super Arena packed with an enthusiastic Japanese crowd, it reminded me of the old times.
Alistair had 6 fights in the last 3 months and with this schedule he is one of the busiest fighters in the world. After Alistair’s great performance in K-1 where he conquered a third place, Alistair was asked to fight on the Dynamite show against Fujita.
Alistair preformed really well in the fight against Fujita and showed that his vicious KO victory over the Brazilian Teixera ( Teixera was never KO’d before) this was no lucky shot. Only 1 minute and 15 seconds in the first round Alistair lands a huge left knee to Fujita’s head and wins the fight by KO.
There was not really a celebration with team Golden Glory with this victory as Fujita was left lifeless on the floor and had to be carried away by a stretcher. The next day he could leave the hospital and we were very pleased to hear this!
This has been a crazy year for Golden Glory celebrating our ten year anniversary with the PTA event in Amsterdam Holland and joining the K-1 GP with 6 fighters at the finals in 2009 where Semmy Schilt from Golden Glory captured his fourth K-1 WGP title.
The year 2010 will be an interesting one as Alistair has to fight one more time in K-1/Dream in March or April, he will then focus on defending his Strikeforce title in the USA!!!
The time has come to see how Fedor’s stand up skills have developed over the last two years. This will be the fight everybody has been waiting for!!!!!
Happy New Year. Wishing everybody all the best for 2010 from Team Golden Glory
