Following a disappointing performance in his last fight, Nate Diaz made the remark that he was contemplating a move to 170 pounds. Looks like the time for thinking about it is over and reality is on the way.

Only one week removed from his last bout, Diaz is set to return to action at UFC 111 in Newark, N.J., to make his welterweight debut against Rory Markham. MMAJunkie.com initially reported the bout, and independent sources close to the fight confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Monday that the fight is likely to happen when the promotion returns to New Jersey.

Training out of Stockton, Calif., Diaz has always been seen as one of the toughest competitors to step into the UFC. The winner of “The Ultimate Fighter" season 5, Diaz had a successful run at lightweight, but losses to Clay Guida, Joe Stevenson, and Gray Maynard made him rethink his decision to continuously cut weight to make 155 pounds.

Now ready to compete at both weight classes, Diaz will see how 170 pounds treats him in March.

His opponent, Rory Markham, is coming back to the Octagon for the first time since February 2009 when he lost by TKO to current top welterweight contender Dan Hardy. The former IFL star currently sports a 1-1 record in the UFC and looks to get back to action after injuries have kept him out of the game for the last year.

It doesn't appear that bout agreements for the fight have been issued, but sources tell MMAWeekly.com that verbal agreements are in place for the bout.
