WEC OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES FIRST PPV ON APRIL 24

World Extreme Cagefighting officially announced their first foray into the world of pay-per-view on Wednesday as the promotion is set to descend once again into Sacramento, Calif., on April 24 for a star studded card that will feature a main event pitting featherweight champion Jose Aldo against hometown hero Urijah Faber with the 145-pound title on the line.

As announced by the Associated Press on Wednesday, the card will cost $44.99 and will be the company's first attempt at a pay-per-view draw after shows emulating on the Versus network for the past few years.

Alongside Aldo vs. Faber will be another championship bout that will feature a replay of one of the top fights of all 2009 when lightweight champion Ben Henderson puts his title on the line against Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.

Henderson defeated Cerrone in 2009 winning a decision over the New Mexico based fighter in what can only be described as an absolute war. Since that time, Henderson went on to defeat former champion Jamie Varner to unify the lightweight title and Cerrone recently gained a victory over Ed Ratcliff to earn his way back to No. 1 contender status.

The third fight announced for the Arco Arena card will pit former 145-pound champion Mike Brown against "Ultimate Fighter" alum Manny Gamburyan that is sure to determine the next top contender for the featherweight crown.

Brown bounced back after losing a fight to Jose Aldo to smash WEC newcomer Anthony Morrison in January, while Gamburyan has gone 2-0 since dropping to 145 pounds and recently defeated top ten fighter Leonard Garcia, to put himself right in the crosshairs of a title shot down the road.

The card will see the WEC return to Arco Arena for the second time in 2010. The promotion's card in January was also in Sacramento and saw over 10,000 fans pack the arena to see the show that night.

Stay tuned to MMAWeekly.com for more information on this card as it becomes available.
