View Full Version : Rampage over acteren, UFC en Rashad

Just because Quinton Jackson is returning to the Octagon to fight Rashad Evans, it doesn't mean things are all lovey-dovey between the former light-heavyweight champ and the UFC. Judging from the above video interview, Rampage still holds a serious grudge about the way he was treated during his un-authorized break to go shoot The A-Team, and he's ready to leave MMA behind and move on with his life:

"I donít know how much I ever loved the fight game, to be honest...I'll tell you one thing, I like it a lot less than I used to. Everybody knows about the falling out I had with the UFC. Its kind of unfortunate that they're trying to blame me for doing this movie like I turned my back on them after Ďall theyíve done for meí when I feel like I have done a lot of things for them as well. Theyíve said some things and done some things that I donít agree with. Thatís not the way I do business. I'm a loyal person, so I take care of people who take care of me, but if people don't take care of me, I don't take care of them. So I am done with the UFC, they can't ask any more favors from me, nothing. I just want to finish my contract and get out if there, do my own thing.

And honestly, Dana lied to me. He said I didnít have to fight Rashad, I could fight Machida [after TUF 10]. After that he told me 'Oh, you gotta fight Rashad.' All the fans were saying ĎHeís ducking Machida, that's why he did the Ultimate Fighter showí, and I didnít say anything, because I was doing [the UFC] a favor. I was being loyal to them, I was being a team player. As soon as I want to do one thing for myself, I'm the bad guy."

At this point, Jackson regrets the loyalty he showed the UFC, which cost him other opportunities:

There has been plenty of movies that I was supposed to do but I couldnít do it because The Ultimate Fighter show came up, and I hate doing The Ultimate Fighter show, but I did it for them. Then I watched a movie come out and I was like man, I could have been in that. I turned down several movies but they donít even know that, I didnít even tell them. I am not making this up, there was several movies that I have turned down because of a fight and I could name them, big movies.

It's true. Rampage was actually being considered for a role in Valentine's Day that eventually went to Topher Grace. Nah, just fuckin' with you. But right now, Jackson seems to have a lot more love for acting than the fight game, and is carrying some hurt feelings that a few large paychecks might not be able to cure. Will 'Page have to rediscover a passion for his sport if he hopes to do well against Evans in May?
