Met allemaal leuke Gifjes. Graag jullie gedachten hierover! ( gejat bij Sherdog )

With the vast array of knockout artists in the UFC it can be quite difficult to separate the best from the rest, but Heavy.com - Funny Videos, MMA, Humorous Articles, Original Shows (http://sherdognet.craveonline.com/index.php#http://www.heavy.com/) has attempted to narrow the list down as best as possible. Check out their list of top 10 power punchers currently under contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Some interesting inclusions....

Props to Mitch Ciccarelli - I know he posts here sometimes

10. Roy Nelson

http://i45.tinypic.com/24v8jkz.gif

Nelson doesn’t exactly have the best physique in the sport, in fact he looks like a man who has had one too many whoppers over the course of his lifetime but do not let his obesity fool you. Getting hit by one of “Big Country’s” overhand rights is the equivalent of getting run over by a Mack Truck. Eight of his fifteen wins have come via (T)KO. The Ultimate Fighter winner is now 2-0 in the UFC with two destructive knockouts over Brendan Schaub and Stefan Struve

9. Cain Velasquez

(This gif compares Mir and Cains respective efforts vs Nog)
http://xs.to/image-CC3B_4BB55797.gif

A few months ago some would question Velasquez’ presence on this list, but after his one minute destruction of Antonio Nogueira at UFC 110 there should be absolutely no doubting the AKA heavyweight’s power.

The unbeaten wrecking machine has only gone the distance once throughout eight professional bouts. Other than his fight with Cheick Kongo, Velasquez has finished every opponent placed in front of him with either a TKO or a knockout.

8. Anthony Johnson

http://i33.tinypic.com/qsjlf8.gif

Johnson entered the UFC’s Octagon for the first time in 2007 demolishing his opponent Chad Reiner in exactly thirteen seconds. Since then “Rumble” has gone 5-3 for the promotion with all five victories coming by way of a brutal knockout.

The massive welterweight lacks a solid ground game but in a pure standup battle there are few in the welterweight division that can stand with Johnson for more than two minutes without having their head knocked into the crowd.

7. Anderson Silva

http://i25.tinypic.com/2vbrdc2.gif

Yeah, yeah, a lot of his knockouts have come from knees or elbows or whatever he decides to use to end the fight. But is anyone really going to argue that “The Spider” is not one of the best punchers in the sport? Ask Forrest Griffin. Or James Irvin. Or Nate Marquardt. I’m positive they would agree. Plus, what kind of list about the best anything in MMA be without Anderson Silva?

6. Quinton Jackson

http://i39.tinypic.com/2rqy22s.gif

Whether or not “Rampage” continues fighting for the UFC after his bout with Rashad Evans is a different story, but when it comes to power punching Jackson is definitely ranked among the top. Jackson has displayed knockout power in both hands, knocking out Chuck Liddell with his right hand and Wanderlei Silva with his left.

At the time, Jackson’s second knockout of Liddell was especially impressive. Before their rematch, Liddell had fought 23 times. Of those 23 fights, the only other person to knock Liddell out was Randy Couture. Jackson also holds the distinction as the only fighter ever to knock “The Iceman” out twice.

5. James Toney

http://www.thesweetscience.com/images/16409/james_toney_and_dana_white_at_ufc_108__150_dpi_2__ 240x230_20100105.jpg

Current reigning IBA boxing heavyweight champion Toney has been harassing Dana White for months to allow him to fight in the UFC. Finally White caved and signed the boxing legend to a multi-fight contract. While Toney will need a proper ground game in order to be a contender in MMA, his boxing is already world class.

They don’t call him “Lights Out” for nothing and over the course of an 83-fight boxing career, Toney has knocked out 44 opponents. Just imagine the power that the boxing champion will be able to garner in a sport with 4 ounce gloves.

4. Junior dos Santos

http://i46.tinypic.com/20itp1g.gif

Since knocking out then-top contender Fabricio Werdum in his UFC debut, dos Santos has steamrolled a who’s who of heavyweight strikers. From Mirko “Cro Cop” to Gilbert Yvel, “Cigano” has brutalized every opponent in his path with a powerful display of boxing. Most recently the Team Blackhouse heavyweight smashed through former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga with a first round stoppage.

3. Vitor Belfort

http://i42.tinypic.com/24q372r.jpg

Anyone willing to stand and bang with “The Phenom” must be legally insane. Belfort has been with the UFC, on an off since 1997 and has reeled up seven knockout victories within the organization. The former light heavyweight champion connected with more than 50 punches in about a 20-second period against Wanderlei Silva back at UFC 17.5, chasing him across the cage and pinning him in the corner for a TKO.

Power comes from speed and Belfort has the fastest hands in MMA. Most recently the Brazilian has evolved into more of a technical fighter. In his Octagon return at UFC 103, Belfort destroyed former middleweight champ Rich Franklin in the first round.

2. Paul Daley

http://i50.tinypic.com/n5lfro.gif

“Semtex” is the perfect nickname for Daley because even his weakest punches can destroy an opponent in devastating fashion. The English kickboxer was brought over to the UFC after the demise of Affliction and he completely battered top contender Martin Kampmann with a deadly arsenal of strikes. Daley followed that win up with a destructive knockout over Jiu-Jitsu ace Dustin Hazelett at UFC 106.

1. Shane Carwin
