MEt wat een venijn trapt Saiyok. Maar wetende dat hij een tijdje personan non grata was en naast muay thai alleen meloenen kon verkopen hoop ik gewoon altijd dat hij wint en genoeg opspaart voor een goed leven. Erg vriendelijk ook. Hoop dat hij nog een tijd zo doorgaat

Geweldige vechter. In korte tijd een van mijn favoriete vechters geworden. Voor deze man koop in een kaartje!!!

kan je vertellen wat er gebeurt is dan van dat Personan non grata? Dit verhaal ken ik nml niet.

From a controversial fighter booed by the spectators to an international muaythai star, the life of fighter Saiyok Pumphanmuang is of quick rises and falls, very much like that seen in soap operas, said Muay Siam newspaper.

Known in the muaythai sport as Saiyoknoi Sakchainarong during his early years in the career, the fighter rose to fame with three champion titles including one from the prestigious Ratchadamnern Stadium. Considered to be one of the most promising fighters in the heavier weight, Saiyok, however, fell from grace quickly and lost his belts to Singmanee Sor Srisompong in a match that seen by the muaythai fans as fraud.


According to the newspaper, promoters shied away from the disgraced fighter, forcing him to find another job and earn living as fruit merchant. However, he did not exactly run out of luck as Lieutenant General Sukkhatat Pumphanmuang, a promoter at Lumpini Stadium, decided to take him in and helped pave his return to the sport.

Saiyok, now using the Lumpini promoter’s last name as part of his new ring alias, has claimed the national welterweight champion title, and began his overseas ventures with an impressive record. In just a little over one year, he has won all his 14 bouts with nine knockouts.

Saiyok is currently one of the most popular Thai fighters abroad, gaining attention of the international audience with his aggressive but fully comprehensive fighting style. The next year seems to be a golden opportunity for Saiyok, as he is scheduled for matches against some of world’s top fighters, including two-time K-1 champion Dutch fighter Andy Souwer and the 2009 champion Italy’s Giorgio Petrosyan.
