Alistair Overeem demolishes Brett Rogers for the Strikeforce World Heavyweight Title!
St Louis May 5th USA
For the last year Golden Glory fighter Alistair Overeem has been the subject of many allegations. In 2009 Alistair was supposed to fight Brett Rogers in the States. Alistair injured his hand and had to postpone the fight twice. Then when finally his hand was healed he had obligations to fight in K-1 and Dream and so it took another 10 months before Alistair could make his successful world title defence in strikeforce.
The camp of M-1 played the press that Overeem would never fight in the States again and called him names. When finally the Golden Glory management responded to these allegations, Mr Flamboyant the nail Vadim denied that he ever said what was quoted all over the internet. Two days later a Russian reporter from www.sports.ru (mhtml:{5D373D8F-DA21-48C5-BAC3-8EF5C89D48ED}mid://00000036/!x-usc:http://www.sports.ru/) came forward with a sound recording he made from the interview with Mr Flamboyant the nail Vadim and like partner Appy Echteld from M-1 also “big” boss himself Mr Flamboyant the nail Vadim was revealed as a liar and caught on tape. Quickly Mr Flamboyant the nail Vadim apologized to Alistair in the press, but it was to late the damage was done. M-1 proved again that they are liars and manipulators, who are not invested in the best interest of Fedor but for only for themselves.
Unfortunately for the M-1 gang Alistair did go to the USA and he did what Fedor could not do, he destroyed Brett Rogers, completely dominated every second of the fight. Were Brett Rogers impressed the hell out of everybody by hurting Fedor and giving him a hell of a first round, Brett could not even pass 4 minutes into the first round before the ref stopped the fight and Alistair Overeem successfully defended his heavyweight strikeforce belt as a true champion.
Alistair was the aggressor standing and with GNP, Brett could do nothing and looked completely helpless.
What the majority of the American audience forgot is that Alistair is not the same Alistair anymore from 3 years ago.
Overeem became a successful heavyweight fighter (which he already was) , no more loosing 10kg to make the 205 lbs, just eat, sleep, train and fight and that’s what Overeem did. He fought the strongest fighters in K-1 in 2009 and even got a third place at the K-1 WGP in 2009. In between Alistair’s K-1 fights he also fought in Glory and Dream (6 fights in less then three months in 2009). Training with Golden Glory fighters like Semmy Schilt, Kharitonov, Gokhan Saki, Errol Zimmerman, Karaev, John Olav Einemo (just to name a few) made Alistair Overeem a different fighter. He is complete, he has the hunger (to perform) does not have cardio problems anymore, he is mentally extremely very strong and is in his prime of his career. Anybody still doubt he is a worthy opponent for Fedor?
This is the fight the audience is waiting for with the gigantic media hype around Overeem and his recent TV exposure in the United States it is the most logical - Fedor vs Overeem has to happen as well as Brock Lesnar vs Overeem.
The opinion around Alistair Overeem from the American audience changed 180 degrees. The M-1 camp looking more and more ridicules for their crazy management, M-1 created exactly the opposite from their smudge campaign. It’s now the great Alistair Overeem from Golden Glory against the big bad Russians. Not that Fedor deserves that title but the general tone is set and it is all done by the most ridiculous management in the history of MMA, M-1! Then again, there always needs to be a bad guy and if this was intent ally done by M-1 they just changed the most humble and respected fighter Fedor into the big bad Russian. This title is perfectly suitable for M-1 and it is karma that Golden Glory (the former management of Fedor and still in dispute with M-1) will end the M-1 circus by defeating the undefeated Fedor.
