Na het goeie optreden van Marloes Coenen bij Strike Force is zij gevraagd, om nog een keer voor te titel te gaan maar dan in een lagere gewichts klasse. Marloes Coenen en haar team denken dat het geen probleem zal worden dus kunnen we genieten in juli voor nog titel strijd

Zeker!! Die Female Strikeforce Champion tot 135lbs (61kg) is Sarah Kaufman (11-0-0) en zij is een van die beste vrouwlijke vechters, zeker geen makkie voor Marloes...

Strikeforce Challengers 9 set for July 23, Kaufman vs. Modafferi title fight targeted

The next installment of Strikeforce's prospects-driven "Challengers" series is slated for July 23, and a title fight could be part of the night's Showtime broadcast.

(http://www.mmajunkie.com)) that Strikeforce Challengers 9 could feature recently crowned Strikeforce women's welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman (11-0 MMA, 3-0 SF) against fellow 135-pounder Roxanne Modafferi (15-5 MMA, 0-1 SF).

The event takes place at Comcast Arena in Everett, Wash.

Coker said the fight is not official but that executives are working to secure it for the upcoming show.

Strikeforce has hosted two previous shows in Washington (one in Tacoma and one in Kent) but has never ventured to Everett, a northwest-Washington city that boasts a population of approximately 104,000. The 9,000-seat Comcast Arena (formally known as "Comcast Arena at Everett") is and has been home to multiple minor-league sports franchises, including the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips.

Kaufman, who would make her fourth straight Challengers appearance, has not fought since her unanimous-decision win over Takayo Hashi in February. The victory earned the Canadian fighter the first-ever Strikeforce women's welterweight belt and extended her undefeated streak to 11 fights.

Although Kaufman opened her career with eight consecutive knockout wins, all of her Strikeforce victories went to decision.

Modafferi, meanwhile, would fight for Strikeforce for the second time. Serving as a late replacement for Erin Toughill, the Japanese-based American moved up a weight class and ultimately suffered a first-round submission loss to notable Marloes Coenen.

Since that loss, Modafferi scored a submission win over Molly Helsel at a King of the Cage event, and on May 21, she edged female standout Tara LaRosa (18-1 at the time) via split decision in a heavily praised "Moosin: God of Martial Arts" pay-per-view bout. Modafferi has now won eight of her past nine fights.

Dus ze vecht eerst nog tegen kaufmann en dan kan de winnaar in july tegen modefarri ??

Ik ga waarschijnlijk iets dom zeggen (ben dan ook deel belg :confused:) maar kan er ook op 140 lb gevochten worden??

Cindy dandois plaatste pas op haar facebook dat ze ging vechten op 26 juni (heel ver weg stond erbij) maar dat ze nog niets mocht vertellen verder...

I know just speculation.. cyborg vecht ook 26 ste maar jan finney lijkt zich niet terug getrokken te hebben dus zou het wel eens kunnen toch??

Maar mischien kan jamilla even mijn zeepbel doorprikken door te bevestigen tegen wie en op welk gewicht ze juist vecht... hahah

even op fightergirls gekeken.... deze partij tussen roxie en sarah was nog niet officieel... maw er is nog geen contract getekend....
Maar 5 juni reageerde roxi nog op de tread alsof de partij door ging....


Waarschijnlijk is deze mogelijkheid er geweest maar wil strikeforce nu liever marloes ipv roxie (waarvan marloes won)
Aangezien er nog geen contracten waren kan dit dus ook ...

Hi all,

I think there was some initial confusion here because Marloes was never scheduled to face Sarah for the title right away. Roxanne Modafferi was the targeted title challenger as of two days after she beat Tara LaRosa in May.

However, Strikeforce does want to have Marloes move to 135 and they would like for her to be part of their 135-pound tournament, which is supposed to begin on or before August 15th.
