Fedor Emelianenko declares “Sambo is great. Jiu-Jitsu is nothing special”
Former PRIDE champion, Fedor Emelianenko has made a startling statement this week, declaring Sambo is great and Jiu-Jitsu is nothing special, despite getting tapped out last month by Brazilian submission machine, Fabricio Werdum.

Speaking via Gazta.ru (http://www.gazeta.ru/sport/2010/07/a_3400624.shtml), Fedor said:
“Sambo is great. Jiu-jitsu is nothing special. We went over several jiu-jitsu guys like that before. I lost because of what happened. My loss was caused by my personal mistake in the cage… I lost my head. Wanted to finish it all as soon as possible.”
Fedor also addressed the rumours that the fight had been fixed, an accusation he strongly denies.
“As far as the rumours about my last fight being set up… I was asked about it many times already. I will never go against my conscience and never betray my country like that. Money doesn’t matter that much to me that I could lie to people. Since I lost to Werdum, it was meant to be. And I’m thankful to God it happened that way.”
Fedor’s manager, Vadim Finkelstein was also present and have some indication of when we were likely to see the Russian heavyweight in action again and, more importantly, against who.
“The Showtime director came over to Moscow for the tournament and to talk about Fedor’s next fight. The process is moving along. We want to schedule a fight with Werdum, as we would like to set things back the way they were.”
Talk of the rematch between Fedor and Werdum taking place in Moscow seems to be just a wild pipe dream due to the time difference between Russia and the United States, where Strikeforce airs live on Showtime and occasionally, CBS.
