Dana White wants people to go to jail…
The UFC has announced that they have subpoenaed Justin.tv and Ustream.tv, due to the illegal uploading and streaming of UFC's pay-per-view events. Zuffa has also requested that they reveal the identities of users who uploaded UFC content. According to the company, a single IP address who uploaded this year's UFC 108 and UFC 110 events drew 36,000 and 78,000 non-paying viewers. Dana White had the following to say on the situation…
"I can't wait to go after the thieves that are stealing our content. This is a fight we will not lose. When people start going to jail, people will stop doing it."
UFC officials recently announced they had reached "confidential settlements" with more than 500 businesses and individuals due to illegally broadcasting UFC events. Earlier this year, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta testified before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee in regards to the Internet piracy of sporting events. The UFC had discovered 71 illegal streams of January's UFC 106 event with more than 140,000 viewers. In 2009, the UFC made an estimated $350 million in PPV revenue. The only authorized online PPV affiliates for UFC broadcasts are UFC.com, Yahoo! Sports and MMAFighting.com.
