Ultimate Glory Keeps Alessio From UFC

October 25th was the day John Alessio finally got the call that he had been waiting years for – a chance to return to the big show. The UFC was knocking once again, but John could not answer the door. Even though he had been waiting for this call for two years, contractual obligations to United Glory kept him from his chance at redemption.
Yesterday, John posted this on his Twitter account,
“I been waiting and working hard for the time to come that ufc calls, well today was the day!! But cause of the other contract I can’t do it. Wtf”
Obviously, this is not the happiest that John has been in recent days. Alessio, fresh off a second round submission win over Sergey Golyaev in the opening round of the $150,000 United Glory Welterweight tournament, is none too impressed about having to miss this octagon opportunity. When asked by Top MMA News (http://topmmanews.com/), all John had to say was “I got to honor my contract.”
The fight Alessio was offered was against Matt Riddle on December 11 in Montreal. A very winnable fight for John, but Alessio will have to wait for now. Next up for the Natural is a Welterweight title fight for Tachi Palace Fights against the underrated Phil Collins. This is a fight that Alessio is not taking lightly, “he’s tough, a good wrestler… when he wins, he finishes the fight.” Regardless of Collins’ ability, John is “…100% sure I’ll walk out with the title.”
Not to look past Phil, but after his title fight at TPF,
Alessio will catch an overseas plane to Belgium to take on former Shooto Middleweight champion Siyar Bahadurzada in the second round of the United Glory tourney. Alessio thinks his Golden Glory trained opponent will be his hardest challenge of the three round tournament,
“I look forward to him (Bahadurzada)! It is a tough fight but I feel like I match up well against him. I will sub him! Siyar is the toughest fight in the tournament, but I will shock everyone by beating him and then taking the tournament! To solidify me as top world status”
And once that happens Alessio hopes for nothing more then to return to the UFC richer in culture, richer in experience and richer in his pocket. As Alessio says, “The UFC will have to be put on hold until I win the tourney!”
