Everyone by now knows about the interview Ariel Helwani did with Steven Seagal (http://htrmma.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=669:thatmmaguy&catid=47:mma-minute) after UFC 126 where Seagal claims he taught Anderson Silva the kick that lead to the victory against Vitor Belfort. Everyone might even remember Anderson stating at the end of the fight that Seagal taught him that kick which is a basic maneuver taught in many forms of Karate. As it turns out, Anderson might have been making a joke.
Speaking via Portal do Vale-tudo (http://www.portaldovt.com.br/), Anderson's camp said:
"The declaration of the champion Anderson Silva (Seagal helping him with the amazing kick) was contemplated with humor by the fans, who knows that the actor was at most twice with the Brazilian.
The approach between the two was actually a marketing maneuver planned by the agent of Anderson, Jorge Joinha, to give more visibility to it's champion in the American media. The plan worked very well in the first stage, the problem was in the wrong dose and reached the absurdity of assigning a brilliant victory by the biggest name in the MMA of all time to a "Master of Hollywood" who never climbed in the ring. The worst of all is that Seagal, perhaps influenced by some of his films, believed and even stated in several interviews after the fight that "He (Anderson) did everything the way i taught him and made me very proud". For God's sake..."
One time Comedian and Actor Rob Schneider was on The Howard Stern Show (http://www.howardstern.com/) and talked about working with Steven Seagal. He remembers Seagal being really excited about this script he had just read claiming "I just read the best script ever." When Schneider asked who wrote the script, Seagal replied "I did." That being said and once the news gets out, it most likely wont hurt Seagals extremely large ego.
