Andy Souwer (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/124846/andy-souwer) and Yoshihiro Sato will meet in a feature bout at Shootboxing 2011 Act 2 on April 23rd in Tokyo, Japan. It has been known since Shootboxing 2011 Act 1 back in February that Andy Souwer would be participating in the organization's next major event. The news that Yoshihiro Sato would be his opponent was posted last night on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/sbmoriya). The Shootboxing bout will mark the second time that Souwer and Sato have met in competition, their first bout (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upUAuipO_WI) coming at the K-1 (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/promotion/k-1) World MAX 2007 World Elite Showcase in April 2007.
Andy Souwer will compete in Shootboxing for the first time since his split decision loss to Toby Imada in the S-Cup 2010 (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/event/70906?page=1) semifinals. The Dutch fighter was successful in his two other 2010 Shootboxing bouts, knocking out Bovy Sor. Udomson in the quarterfinals of the S-Cup tournament and suppressing the buzz surrounding Hinata Watanabe by choking out the rising Japanese prospect in September. Souwer has gone 2-1 in his three bouts since last competing in Shootboxing, putting on dominant performances against Pajonsuk and L'houcine Ouzgni under the It's Showtime banner while also dropping a moderately contentious decision to Abraham Roqueni in Spain in early February.
Yoshihiro Sato will come in to the April 23rd contest under a slightly different set of circumstances. Whatever the concerns about the field of competition in last year's K-1 MAX final, Sato entered 2011 as the runner-up in the most prestigious 70 kg. tournament in the kickboxing world. He has failed to look the part since that time, however. Sato came away from the first Krush event of the year with a victory over Shemsi Beqiri, but the January 9th bout turned into a much more difficult affair for Sato than most would have expected. The Nagoya native was effectively outworked throughout much of the bout by his opponent and walked away with a split decision victory that many have since questioned. Sato's other bout of 2011 came against Armen Petrosyan at Fight Code: Oktagon 2011 earlier this month, where Petrosyan came away with a competitive but downright ugly decision.
Shootboxing 2011 Act 2 is also set to feature promotional standouts Ryuya Kusakabe, Hiroaki Suzuki, and RENA.

Shootboxing heeft Souwer-Sato-Buakaw. Dus gaat wel de goeie kant op.
