MMA begint duidelijk aan populariteit te winnen, want naast de heuse octagon waarin zaterdagavond werd gevochten in Almelo was er niet ver daar vandaan bij onze Oosterburen ook een aantrekkelijk MMA gala.
Ondanks dat bijna de helft van de partijen op het laatste moment werden afgezegd, stonden er in Essen toch nog 13 zéér spectaculaire MMA-partijen op het programma.

Deze keer was de locatie van RespectFC een oude fabriekshal, wat enorm bijdroeg aan een filmische sfeer. Door de toeschouwers die de partijen door de hekken van een gallerij van bovenaf konden bezichtigen, moest ik meteen denken aan de setting van de vroege van Damme films!

Prachtige lokatie. Erg goed bedacht van onze oosterse buren. Overigens hebben ze ook precies de goeie fotograaf aangenomen om deze lokatie volledig tot zijn recht te laten komen!

Ben benieuwd naar de beelden van deze partijen, hoorde van paar mensen dat het mooiste actie was haha. Hij is trouwens broertje van Martin Zawada die de tegenstander zwaar KO sloeg.

Het was een pracht gala en top partijen.

Ik heb wel eens verhalen gehoord van rode kimonos die in de wasmachine roze werden, maar volgens mij had deze gast gewoon bewust een lila gi uitgekozen. respect! :P Die andere was een Berlijnse performance artist die een klein dansje deed .

Ja dat was een knap staaltje onverschrokkenheid! Toen de ringbouwers in Essen aankwamen en hoorden dat er veel was uitgevallen, bood Zimmerman aan om deze Duitse reus te "bekampfen"! Manuel slamde hem zo hard op het canvas dat ie daarbij zijn eigen neus brak!
