Fighting is something that Siyar Bahadurzada has done all of his life. Growing up in the war torn country of Afghanistan, Siyar saw and dealt with things at a young age that many people don't in an entire lifetime; however, after moving to Holland with his family, Siyar changed his life for the better, training at the legendary Golden Glory gym, and developing into the amazing fighter he is today.

First of all Siyar, thank you for taking the time out to speak with AddictedMMA.

1. Why don't we start off by asking you this - For fans that aren't yet familiar with you as a fighter, can you tell them what Siyar Bahadurzada is all about?

SB - Siyar "the killer" is an exciting mixed martial artist who has a record of 19-4-1 and has 15 of his 19 victories coming in the first round by KO or submission! 2011 and next few years is mine. I will start to reign and I will show the fans what they wanna see! Heart, determination, violence and KO's! (if God is willing)

2. How did growing up in Afghanistan help to shape your character as a fighter?

SB - Growing up in Afghanistan has helped me to become a man in a very early age! I've always had an old and experienced soul in a young body. Not only me, but everybody who has lived in the war has seen things that people elsewhere need shrinks to deal with these things. That builds your character! I believe that if you think strong, you'll act strong! After sometime it will be your habit... later it will become your character! My experiences in life taught me to think strong and act strong!

3. When you moved to Holland, how did you become acquainted with Golden Glory, and what has the gym meant to you personally?

SB - First when I came to Holland, I learned the Dutch language in 4! months! I was so busy learning Dutch that I'd sometimes totally lose my sense of time. Because I was determined! It was a great chance to change my life and to create opportunities to be successful one day. I wanted to integrate fast and learn the Dutch language if I wanted to change my life and be successful. Then after sometime I had no difficulties in the Dutch society and I had to find another challenge... So I looked up for a competitive sport. I met Martijn De Jong, my current trainer, and I started to train with him. He motivated me a lot and told me I will be a champ one day. in 2007 I was signed with Golden Glory and what can I say... Golden Glory is the best team in the world and it means a lot to me to be a part of this team. Not to forget, until 2007 I wasn't really training like a pro fighter should. I was just training like 3 times a week. When I became the Shooto LHW champ in July 2007, then I started taking this seriously and train like a pro.

4. You're known for the knockout. What is your favourite technique to knock an opponent out with?

SB - Flying knee! Haven't gotten the chance to do it yet, but when the moment is there... I won't hesitate to take off!

5. Just to clear this up, you have a couple nicknames that float around. "Siyar The Great" and "Siyar The Killer". Which one are you going by right now?

SB - I go by both, but I love "the killer" one and especially in the fight game! Because it was given to me by my grandfather when I was 5 years old. I fought 3 older guys (who wanted to take my kite away from me) and made them look bad! My grandpa saw this from far that I was beating those older boys. My grandfather was very proud of me because I fought back and I fought for what was mine! Since then he gave me the nickname "the killer". This must have been my destiny.

On the other hand, Siyar "the Great" was given to me by Ryan Parsons and Jason "mayhem" Miller. It was not only SiyarTheGreat. I like to use this name when I go out partying... and if someone goes... what's your name... then I go "SiyarTheGreat"! haha. And to be honest these both nicknames fit me. I have an extremely darkside in my character which has been built into my character due to the negative experiences in my life in the war, which could be defined as a killer. But I also have a very friendly, funny, crazy, and helpful side, which make me a great person in the eyes of my friends. On twitter I go by both nicknames: @SiyarTheKiller and SiyarTheGreat.

6. OK, switching gears now - We just saw you impressively TKO John Alessio in the very 1st round at Ultimate Glory 13 to advance to the welterweight finals. It was an emotional victory for you. Can you talk about the training camp and the fight?

SB - My trainings camps are all the same. I go over my limits and I work extremely hard! I have an undying source of motivation in my mind and I always think strong! I am an athlete and my job is to be in top shape and perform in front of the fans and give them fire works! The fight with Alessio was no different than other fights. I believe in myself and I know what I can do. Alessio was a great fighter and well established fighter in USA. So I chose to fight him to get some awareness in USA. And I had to do it in an impressive way and do things to him that Thiago Alves and Paul Daley could not do to him... Just show the world that I'm a few levels above him!

7. So with that victory over Alessio, you are now scheduled to fight against fellow Golden Glory fighter Tommy Depret in the finals of Ultimate Glory's welterweight tournament, correct? What do you think of facing a training partner in a real fight, and how do you see the fight playing out?

SB - Correct! Tommy is a good complete fighter! He has his strengths and I have mine. He's a team mate and good person and I will not say anything bad about him. But one thing I do promise! That is violence!

8. Now, a lot of fans in North America really wish the issues between Strikeforce and yourself would be solved so we could see you over here, fighting the likes of Nick Diaz and Paul Daley, or even in the UFC against some of their fighters. Can you comment on the whole ordeal, and do you have an update for your fans?

SB - All I can say is that I hope to be able to fight a top 10 ranked welterweight soon! I'm sure many people have not heard about me yet, but that will change in 2011!!!! I will surprise a lot of people! and I will entertain a lot of MMA fans! Fighting the greats like Nick Diaz and Thiago Alves, and other great welterweights is a dream! No disrespect to these great fighters, the fact is that I would like to measure my heart, violence and determination with these warriors, because they can handle a lot of violence and are violent themselves. So people might get another Cyborg vs Manhoef type of fight!!!!

All I can say to the fans now is to have patience... "every dog has it's day". My time will come soon and when I stand on a big stage... I will perform as a mixed martial artist and hopefully be able to show the fans some of my "master pieces"!!!

9. Recently you had a highlight reel knockout over Carlos Pereira in Brazil at Shooto. After the fight you stated that no one in the welterweight division can compete with you in striking. So just to confirm - you feel you would knockout Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz as well?

SB - Only time will tell! I can say YES now, but people will think i'm insane and I'm too cocky and do not know what I'm talking about... Regarding this question, I choose to answer this question rather with performance, than words! I am in for a fight with Nick Diaz!

10. Speaking of Diaz, did you get a chance to watch the Strikeforce championship fight between him and Daley? If so, what did you think of the fight?

SB - Diaz is a very strong fighter, mentally! And Daley is a great striker too, but Diaz pulled Daley into his world and took him into deep water and left him there, which means Daley's game plan flew off the window. But If Diaz chooses to test MY mental toughness in a fight... HA! I can't wait!!!!!

11. Changing things up again, I'm curious - What exactly is the difference between the Dutch and the Thai's when it comes to striking?

SB - Dutch fighting style has more combination... unpredictable combination, which is extremely confusing for the non-Dutch fighters haha! Thai style is single blows.

12. Your friend and training partner Alistair Overeem has a big fight coming up vs. Fabricio Werdum in the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix. How do you see the fight playing out?

SB - I will not make many words dirty about this fight. All I can say is... to beat Alistair now, you need to hire Superman or maybe the incredible hulk! Alistair is a beast! He will make a lot of fighters look bad in the near future!

13. When you look back at the end of 2011, what do you want to say Siyar Bahadurzada accomplished?

SB - Hearts of the MMA fans, respect, and a lot of credit... a WHOLE LOT MORE credit!!!! Hopefully God gives me the strength to be in shape and do my best in the fights.

14. Is there anyone you want to give a shout-out to?

SB - I wanna give a shout out to my boys in USA! Ryan, King Mo, Mayhem what's up! Bloodstainlane what's up! and a shout out to all violent loving MMA fans!!! Follow me on twitter @SiyarTheKiller and let's have some fun! ;)

and finally,

15. Siyar Bahadurzada...what are you addicted to?

SB - I have some healthy addictions... Speeding and Partying is the worst! I get a lot of bills for speeding monthly and I love to party! Don't understand me wrong when I say partying. I stay away from drugs and alcohol and I just enjoy the company of friends!

That being said, I love partying so bad, I cannot motivate myself to train if I do not party in the weekends. I am a wild person and I need to party to calm the wildness down for a week of training haha. And isn't Amsterdam the place to party after all?????? By the way, April 17th is my 27th birthday... Ahum!!!! ;)

Well happy early birthday to you Siyar! Hope it's a good one! All you addicts remember to wish Siyar happy birthday on Twitter on the 17th!

AddictedMMA thanks Siyar Bahadurzada for the time and we wish him all the best in training for his upcoming fight vs. Tommy Depret at Ultimate Glory 14. You can check out Siyar's last fight vs. John Alessio at the bottom of this page.

Leuk interview, thanks!

Kijk uit naar zijn partij tegen Tomy Depret, hopelijk kan hij daarna echt naar de USA om de gevestigde WW orde aan te vallen.
WAR SIYAR!
