Haye v Klitschko - Hamburg Press Conference
The waiting is finally over with the formal announcement of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events of the summer. Both WBA Champion David Haye & IBF, WBO and IBO Champion Wladimir Klitschko were in Hamburg today to announce their fight on 2 Jul 11. The fight will take place at the 60,000 seater Imtech Arena in Hamburg Germany. The fight is expected to sell out within hours of tickets going on sale.
The Hayemaker started off proceedings "It's been a long time coming, the fight was supposed to happen sometime ago, I wanted it to happen, but, for whatever reason the boxing gods have decided that I am now going to become the unified champion on 2 Jul 11".
Haye added "I know what Wladimir is about, I know what he's always been about and that's why I've aimed for him since before I had my first heavyweight contest, even when I was a cruiserweight. I've seen his style, I've seen what he does in the ring, and I've seen how he comes to the ring and I believe he's a fraud."
"I believe the people he has fought have made him look spectacular in some people's opinions. He even wears big shoulder pads in his gown as he walks to the ring, to the fact that he tries to pick the guys who suit his style perfectly, I am not fooled by it".
David continued by stating "Ive seen it happen time after time, I keep watching this guy and thinking, even when I was a cruiserweight I could knock this guy out and now is my time to prove it. I won the belt they have been claiming they have wanted for many years, they have had their chance in the past but for whatever reason, it hasn't happened. I believe it didn't happen because Valuev didn't fit their list of little fat Americans, they like to pick, but I'm definitely someone who is going to mess with Wladimir inside the ring, outside of the ring, inside his head and he's in for a fight."
The Hayemaker finished off proceedings by saying "I do not believe Wladimir is tough mentally or physcially unless he gets a chin transplant and on 2 Jul 11 I am going to knock him out".
Haye's manager and trainer, Adam Booth was very brief and to the point "I havn't got a lot to say except in 8 weeks you are going to see something very special and the heavyweight division will be finally woken up".
