The Ultimate Fighter 14 is the fourteenth installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)-produced reality television series The Ultimate Fighter.

http://prommanow.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bisping-vs-miller.jpg

The UFC and Spike held open tryouts on March 21, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The casting call went out for Bantamweight and Featherweight fighters. All fighters that applied and tried out for the show must have had at least three professional fights and have been at least 21 years of age.

Some of the fighters that showed up for the tryouts included UFC veterans Din Thomas & Kit Cope, former Olympic bronze medalist Alexis Vila, and WEC veterans Micah Miller, Wagnney Fabiano, and Ian McCall.

Rumors had surfaced of Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping being possible coaches, though Jason Miller offered via Twitter to replace Chael Sonnen if he is unable.

Miller and Bisping were later confirmed as coaches by Dana White.

The finale is expected to be held December 3, 2011, at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Spike TV's final season of The Ultimate Fighter will begin with a two-hour episode on September 21 featuring 16 fights, and on Monday Spike announced the names of the 32 fighters who will attempt to fight their way into the house. Here are the highlights:

-- Among the more recognizable names in the group are John Dodson, a bantamweight who trains with Greg Jackson, Matt Jaggers, a bantamweight who has fought in Bellator and Sengoku and has a 20-7 pro record, Bryan Caraway, a former WEC featherweight who trains with Team Alpha Male, Eric Marriott, a featherweight who has fought three times for Bellator, and Micah Miller, a featherweight who has fought in the WEC and Dream and is the brother of UFC fighter Cole Miller.

-- Brothers Josh Ferguson and B.J. Ferguson are both part of the bantamweight field, which means it's possible that the UFC could have its first-ever brother vs. brother fight.

-- The oldest fighter in the group is 31-year-old Marcus Brimmage. The youngest are 21-year-olds Jimmie Rivera and Casey Dyer.

Michael Bisping: Mayhem Miller's Mouth Is Bigger Than His Brain

Michael Bisping coached against Jason "Mayhem" Miller on the season of The Ultimate Fighter that was filmed this summer and will air on Spike TV this fall, and for fans of the show who enjoy seeing conflict between the coaches, Bisping has some good news: There was friction during filming between the two of them.

Bisping said on The MMA (http://www.mmafighting.com/) Hour that he and Miller had several encounters during the taping of the show, and he came away from them with less respect for Miller than he had before.

"Miller's mouth is bigger than his brain," Bisping said. "I definitely get the upper hand throughout the entire season. I'm not talking about the fights, I'm just talking about the one-on-one interaction with Miller."

Bisping said he had hoped to coach against Chael Sonnen (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/chael/sonnen/296/) because he thought beating Sonnen at the end of the Ultimate Fighter season would earn him a shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/anderson/silva/235/). Instead, Sonnen failed to get licensed to fight after legal problems related to his use of testosterone and his conviction on money laundering charges, and so Miller was next up.

"I was a little disappointed it wasn't Chael Sonnen," Bisping said. "I think a lot of fans wanted to see that. But he had his personal problems and it wasn't meant to be. Miller, I wasn't as excited."

But once he got to know Miller, Bisping said, he became excited about the possibility of fighting him.

"At the start of the season I thought he was an OK guy," Bisping said of Miller. "By the end of the season I wanted to kill him. Fortunately, December 3 I'll have my opportunity."

Bisping said his biggest disappointment is that if he does beat Miller, he doesn't think that will be enough to earn him a title shot, whereas beating Sonnen probably would have. And Bisping said he doesn't think it's fair that Sonnen is considered close to title contention, even though Sonnen lost to Silva and then was suspended by the California State Athletic Commission.

"I think it's complete bulls**t," Bisping said. "Chael Sonnen, who just fought the champ, cheated and took steroids."

Although Bisping is preparing mostly for Miller right now, he makes clear that his ultimate goal is to earn a shot at Silva.

"I think I am next in line," Bisping said. "Ideal scenario would be beat Miller, get a title shot, win the world title."

'Mayhem' Miller: Arrest for Assaulting Sister 'Now All Over With'

UFC middleweight Jason "Mayhem" Miller (http://www.mmafighting.com/tag/JasonMayhemMiller/) said on Monday's episode of The MMA (http://www.mmafighting.com/) Hour that his arrest for allegedly assaulting his sister in August (http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/08/19/jason-mayhem-miller-arrested-accused-of-assaulting-his-sister/) is now "all over with," but added that "t wasn't alleged; there was an actual altercation."

Miller was arrested by the Chatham County Sheriff in North Carolina on August 7 for simple assault and false imprisonment after an incident during which he was said to have put his sister in a headlock and refused to let her leave a house party that both siblings were attending.

"I'll just say this: my sister was not in any state to drive, and I stopped her from driving," Miller told Ariel Helwani. "However, she was in a state to file a police report, which is now all over with. It's all finished. It was unfounded...a Miller family experience that got out of hand."

When pressed on whether it was truly necessary for the professional fighter to put his sister into a headlock to prevent her from driving, Miller insisted that it was.

"Look, my sister is a big girl," he said. "She's like 200 pounds and strong, muscle girl. I had to hold her, like, for real hold her. There's no wrist-controlling your big sister, you know what I'm saying? You've got to like, hold on to her."

Miller was arrested the day after the incident at the party, after his sister notified the Chatham County Sheriff's office. Originally, there was concern that the 30-year-old Miller, who will appear as a coach opposite British middleweight Michael Bisping (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/michael/bisping/368/) on the upcoming season of the UFC (http://www.mmafighting.com/ufc) reality show [I]The Ultimate Fighter, might have his fighting career put on hold due to legal issues.

But there was nothing to the complaint, Miller said, and he expects no further legal action on the matter, though he is "glad I did that" in order to stop his sister from driving that night, he added.

"If I had to do it all over again, I would do exactly the same thing," Miller said.

What surprised him the most, Miller said, was how big the story became after TMZ initially reported his arrest.

"It's funny, because I'm in the stage of my career where people care about some petty redneck drama that I got into. It's really surreal. I had TMZ beating down my door and trying to call me about that. I was like, are you serious? I didn't even think that was a big deal."

Now that the matter has been settled, he can get back to focusing on the upcoming fight against his coaching counterpart on the TUF 14 Finale.

"All I'm thinking about is fighting Michael Bisping on December 3," he said. "...That's all I can think about."

Diego Brandao 'Feels Great' After Being The Ultimate Fighter's Top Pick

Michael Bisping made Diego Brandao the first pick among the featherweights on this season of The Ultimate Fighter, indicating that Bisping views Brandao as the most talented fighter of the bunch on this year's cast.

In our weekly interview, Brandao said that's pretty much how he viewed himself as well -- he headed into The Ultimate Fighter house confident in his abilities, and after getting a look at the rest of this season's cast, he thought he was among the best fighters on the show.

We talked with Brandao about his status as the first overall pick, how the training he got at the Ultimate Fighter gym compared to what he had before, and what he thought of the season's first fight, between Bryan Carraway and Marcus Brimage.

The interview is below.

Michael David Smith: You were the first overall pick. How did that make you feel?
Diego Brandao: I feel great about it. I think it was because of my jiu jitsu, the coaches saw those skill I had, and in my first fight to get onto the show I showed that I was one of the strongest guys. I think at that time I felt more confident than the other guys. Getting picked first meant a lot and I felt great at the start of the show.

Getting picked first meant that Bisping thought you were the best of the featherweights. Is that also what you thought?
Yes, I always believe in myself. I always think to myself, I'm the best guy, no one is going to come to me and take my dream away. But when I saw those guys I did see there were a lot of other good guys there, too. I thought there were guys that would challenge me, but I was confident in myself.

Did the coaching you got at the start of the show differ from what you were accustomed to, training with Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn?
I learned a lot during but before I went down there I also felt like I knew a lot from my own camp. I wasn't thinking, "Oh, my gosh, this is The Ultimate Fighter!" I was just thinking like I had already prepared myself.

In the first fight of the season, Bryan Carraway beat Marcus Brimage with a rear-naked choke in the second round. Did you have any thoughts about that, as Carraway was a potential opponent for you in a later round of the season?
I think Bryan is an aggressive guy who looked good, he has very good submissions and I think he has a jiu jitsu background like me. I enjoyed watching it and felt like it was a fun fight to watch.

Diego Brandao Talks About His Fight: 'I Want to Destroy the Guy'

On this week's episode of The Ultimate Fighter, Diego Brandao had a run-in with Steven Siler outside the Octagon, then found out that Siler would be his next opponent inside the Octagon as well.

Brandao and Siler were the last two fighters to get matched up in this season's featherweight tournament, and their fight will be shown on next week's episode. MMAFighting.com caught up with Brandao to discuss his feelings toward Siler outside the cage, his views on what kind of opponent Siler would be and how he prepared for the fight.

Our interview with Brandao is below.

Michael David Smith: At the start of Episode 5 they showed you being very angry at Steven Siler. What was that all about?
Well, I think the show wanted to show the drama, but he got in my face and challenged me and I was just like, "Why are you getting in my face?" You guys saw me punching the wall which made me look crazy, but I was just totally focused on beating everyone. In that house there were a lot of young kids, a lot of them were talented but a lot of them didn't know what to do with that opportunity. I knew I had to be focused on my opportunity to beat all of them.

So when you found out that you'd be fighting Siler in the cage, did the run-in with him motivate you?
No, because inside the cage it's different. Inside the cage, I'll throw down with anyone. I don't have anything to lose. I'm going out there like a pit bull.

Going into the fight, how did you think you matched up with Siler?
I think he thought he could beat me, but I'm a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and I also thought I could knock him out. I was feeling very good.

As you prepared for the fight did you develop a specific game plan for Siler?
No, before the fight I don't have a strategy like, "Oh, I have to take this guy down, I have to do this, I have to do that." To me, I don't care. I go in there and I want to destroy the guy. I don't want to think too much. I go in there, make sure my hands are up and fight hard. When you push it you win the fight.

It sounds like you were confident heading into the fight.
That's just my training. I train real hard. I'm not there in the house to make friends. The guy made me angry but I'm a nice guy, a happy guy. I just wanted to go in there and show I'm the best. It's 32 guys fighting for one contract so I'm not in it to be friends with anybody.
