This presentation will cover a brief history of Mixed Martial Arts and the evolution of physical training for this ever-growing sport. Martin will cover the physical needs of the mixed martial artist as well as common forms of training (strength, speed, endurance) required for success. Also evaluated will be the current errors seen in training, periodization, and nutrition as it's being applied to MMA today.

Martin has his Master of Health Science and Bachelor of Physical Therapy degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Furman University. He is the creator of the Training for Warriors system and is currently the COO of the Parisi Speed School national franchise. Martin's inspiring and educational messages have allowed him to deliver highly acclaimed presentations to Fortune 500 companies such as Marriott International and Hasbro, professional teams like the NY Jets, Cincinnati Bengals and NY Giants, and his university clientele has included Arizona State University, University of Alabama, Oregon State University, Rutgers University, and Montana State University. Martin has also lectured for the American College of Sports Medicine, the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the UK Strength and Conditioning Association, the Finnish Coaches Association and run speed camps for Nike. He has traveled as far as Brazil, Finland, Mexico, Japan, Russia, England, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Thailand, Italy, Germany, Austria and the Middle East to train, compete, and conduct seminars and help prepare world class athletes for competition. Martin has also used his training system with UFC fighters, Jiu Jitsu World Champions, US National Judo Champions, and Collegiate Wrestling All-Americans. In addition to martial artists, Martin has also been a speed and conditioning consultant to other athletes from the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA and numerous top Division I colleges across the country. He has also trained numerous Olympians including one gold, four silver medalists, and one US Olympic Trials champion. Once a champion Division I track and field athlete and member of the United States Bobsled team, Martin is currently a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has a black belt in Kodokan Judo.

For the past decade Martin has been the Chief Operating Officer of the Parisi Speed School. From a small one-store operation, Martin has helped develop the business systems, marketing tools, and cultural structure to all the Parisi Speed School to launch as a national franchise with over 65 franchises in 28 states across the country and 1 in Europe. During this span, Martin developed one of the top NFL Combine training programs in the country producing the fastest athlete at the 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006 NFL Combine and 130 athletes Martin has trained have been drafted to the NFL.
