Former UFC (http://www.mmafighting.com/ufc) middleweight fighter Gerald Harris (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/gerald/harris/389/) has a signed a multi-fight contract with DREAM. "Hurricane" announced the news via Twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/GHurricane/status/95609078260310016) Monday afternoon.
Harris is 1-1 since his release from the UFC last year. He lost to James Head (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/james/head/1801/) via unanimous decision in February and defeated Anthony Ruiz (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/anthony/ruiz/1233/) via unanimous decision in May.
A former cast member on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter, Harris went 3-1 in the UFC before getting his walking papers. The news (http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/11/23/gerald-harris-cut-from-ufc-after-loss-at-ufc-123/) came as a surprise to many fans because, despite his uninspiring loss to Maiquel Falcao (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/maiquel/falcao/1648/) at UFC 123, Harris had finished the first three opponents he faced in the UFC.
The 31-year-old is 18-4 in his pro MMA career, picking up notable wins over Nissen Osterneck (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/nissen/osterneck/665/), John Salter (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/john/salter/1185/) and Mario Miranda (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/mario/miranda/1489/).
No word just yet on when Harris will debut for the Japanese-based promotion.
