'Judo' Jim Wallhead to Face Frank Trigg at BAMMA 7

Coming off a quarterfinal exit in Bellator (http://www.mmafighting.com/bellator/)'s most recent welterweight tournament, "Judo" Jim Wallhead will return to the U.K. circuit as a replacement to face Frank Trigg (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/frank/trigg/163/) at BAMMA 7 on Sept. 10 in Birmingham.

Tom Watson, who had been scheduled to face Trigg, was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.

Wallhead (21-6), who trains out of Team Rough House with the likes of Dan Hardy (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/dan/hardy/492/), Paul Daley (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/paul/daley/967/) and Ross Pearson (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/ross/pearson/875/), won his Bellator debut in October, but earlier this year had an eight-fight win streak snapped by tournament runner-up Rick Hawn. Prior to Bellator, the judo black belt was a reserve on The Ultimate Fighter 9, but never received the call up.

Trigg (21-8) made his BAMMA debut in May, stopping John Phillips in the first round. Trigg, 39, has won back-to-back fights since his release from the UFC (http://www.mmafighting.com/ufc) last year.

Also on the BAMMA 7 card are: Leonardo Santos vs. Rob Sinclair, Efrain Escudero vs. Tim Radcliffe and Matt Ewin vs. Valentino Petrescu.

BAMMA to introduce British titles!

BAMMA 7 will not only feature a world lightweight title bout between Leonardo Santos and Rob Sinclair, it will also herald the arrival of the first BAMMA British Title. Middleweights Jack Marshman of Wales and Carl Noon, fighting out of Manchester, are set to throw down for the honour of becoming the first ever British Middleweight Champion. In addition to its world titles, BAMMA will now aim to crown a British champion in each of its weight classes

British welterweight lightning rod Paul Daley (27-11-2) has been booked to make his return to the United Kingdom when he takes on Bulgarian bruiser Jordan Radev (23-4) at BAMMA 7 on September 10 from he National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.

"Semtex" heads back to the UK with his tail between his legs, having suffered back-to-back defeats under the Strikeforce banner to Nick Diaz and Tyron Woodley. His last win came in his BAMMA debut via crushing knockout over Yuya Shirai earlier this year.

"I want my title shot again, plain and simple," Daley said in today's release. "If I have to plow through Radev to get a crack at the belt, then unlucky for him. I can’t wait to be fighting for my UK fans again and I promise that by the end of the year I’ll be crowned as the BAMMA welterweight champion."

The Nottingham knuckler will have to make takedown defense his top priority against the former Olympic wrestler.

Nate Marquardt to Debut for BAMMA in December, 'Interested' in Fighting Daley First

Nate Marquardt (http://www.mmafighting.com/tag/NateMarquardt/) will make his BAMMA debut on Dec. 10, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The former UFC (http://www.mmafighting.com/ufc) middleweight contender, who signed a multi-fight contract with the UK-based organization in July, will compete at BAMMA 8, which will be held at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England. No opponent has been signed for his debut.

This will mark Marquardt's first fight since his release from the UFC in June after the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission ruled that his testosterone levels were too high to compete against Rick Story (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/rick/story/669/) at UFC Live on Versus 4.

BAMMA 7 takes place this Saturday night in Birmingham, England, and chances are high that if Paul Daley (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/paul/daley/967/) beats Jordan Radev (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/jordan/radev/281/), "Semtex" will be the one to welcome Marquardt to BAMMA.

"I don't think it's any secret that Paul Daley is one of the bigger names here in the UK," Marquardt's manager Lex McMahon told MMAFighting.com on Thursday. "If he wins Saturday, that is a fight we would be interested in."

Speaking of BAMMA 7, the organization announced on Thursday that the card will air live outside the UK and Canada on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BAMMAUK%20). UK fans can watch the main card live on Syfy and Canadian fans can watch it live on The Fight Network. The event will be headlined by Frank Trigg (http://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/frank/trigg/163/) vs. "Judo" Jim Wallhead.

Paul Daley (http://www.mmafighting.com/tag/PaulDaley/) has failed to make weight for the sixth time in his last 14 fights.

"Semtex" tipped the scales on Friday at 176 pounds for his BAMMA 7 (http://www.mmafighting.com/tag/BAMMA7/) 170-pound fight against Jordan Radev. Daley was given two extra hours to lose more weight, but he opted against it.

According to Liam Fisher, BAMMA's head of business development, the sauna at the fighter hotel broke at 2:15 p.m. local time, prior to the 3 p.m. weigh-ins in Birmingham, England. The other 25 fighters on the card successfully made weight.

Fisher said that Daley has been fined a percentage of his purse but refused to say how much. A portion of that purse deduction will be awarded to Radev. The Daley-Radev fight has now been changed to a 176-pound catchweight bout.

Daley weighed 170.4 for a BAMMA 5 (http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/02/25/paul-daley-misses-weight-for-fifth-time-in-11-fights/) title fight in February, 171.75 at Shark Fights 14 (http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Daley-Misses-Weight-at-Shark-Fights-26797) in September of 2010, 172 for UFC 108 (http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/01/03/paul-daleys-excuse-doesnt-cut-it/) in January of 2010, 171.5 for MFC 20 (http://www.mmamania.com/2009/02/20/mfc-20-weigh-in-results-paul-semtex-daley-fails-to-make-weight-again/) in February of 2009 and 174 for MFC 19 (http://www.mmafighting.com/2008/12/05/paul-semtex-daley-overweight-fined-25-of-pay/) in December of 2008.

Headliners Frank Trigg (185.5 lbs) and Jim Wallhead (185) both made weight.

BAMMA 7 will air live outside the UK and Canada on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BAMMAUK%20). UK fans can watch the main card live on Syfy and Canadian fans can watch it live on The Fight Network.
