Van 1978 tot 1984 was Rudy Koopmans ongenaakbaar als Europees kampioen boksen in het halfzwaargewicht. Aan de vooravond van zijn elfde titelgevecht tegen de Fransman Rufino Angulo stond er een prachtig stuk in het vechtsportblad Zendokan. Rudy werd gevolgd in de aanloop naar zijn gevecht en een aantal mensen kwamen aan het woord over Rudy. Ook Rudy zelf beantwoorde openhartig de vele vragen en uiteindelijk werd hij gevolgd naar Parijs, waarin hij in een bomvolle Halle Carpentier, zijn titel verdedigde tegen Rufino Angulo.
