Champion Anderson Silva (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/122568/anderson-silva)
, who is expected to return in June (http://www.mmamania.com/2012/1/30/2758988/chael-sonnen-vs-anderson-silva-june-2012-sao-paolo-brazil-mma)
for his eventual showdown (and UFC 117 rematch) against division number one contender Chael Sonnen (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/122570/chael-sonnen)
, is still taking it slow and steady as he rehabilitates from injuries to his shoulder and back (http://www.mmamania.com/2011/12/8/2621988/anderson-silvas-shoulder-injury-was-examined-by-ufc-doctors-and-is)
.

"After about four or five months I went back to training. I'm always doing some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in a gi with the guys so I keep everything well-adjusted, but due to the injuries to my shoulder and back, I'm a little slow. I'm doing physical therapy and nursing it enough so when I'm really back training there aren't any injuries that hinder me. It's a job all athletes have to do, you work at prevention. From doing therapy all the time to correcting posture and breathing to avoid the injuries. But no matter how much I did, I ended up hurt. First with my shoulder and now with my back. You reach a certain age where you don't heal as fast, so you have to take your time. I don't want anything to be wrong when I come back to the real hard training. I'll continue doing physical therapy until the pain goes away and I'll keep up the workouts."

"The Spider" was last seen disposing of Yushin Okami (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/122563/yushin-okami) at the UFC 134 (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fight-card/71387/ufc-134-rio) pay-per-view (PPV) event back in August of 2011 and while the promotion insists he's a lock (http://www.mmamania.com/2012/1/30/2758988/chael-sonnen-vs-anderson-silva-june-2012-sao-paolo-brazil-mma) for the June 29 event in Sao Paulo, Sonnen claims the UFC has yet to offer him the fight (http://www.mmamania.com/2012/2/15/2800348/chael-sonnen-still-has-not-officially-been-offered-anderson-silva).Hear Silva discuss his long road to recovery, after the jump.

Anderson is al 37 jaar binnen 2 maandjes. het is natuurlijk niet raar dat hij nu opeens meer problemen heeft met blessures.
