The film will be an independent documentary following the lives of these two fighters as they for fights that could change the whole course of their lives. It will be mostly shot in Thamaka, Kanchanaburi, Thailand. I hope to shoot it in the beginning of May 2012. The final product will be a documentary and instructional video sold online for digital download at an affordable price. I've been waiting for years to create a documentary of this kind , and so I'm asking for your help!

The film will contrast the lives of Pornsaneh and Yodkhoonpon Sitmonchai. Pornsaneh, a seasoned veteran and accomplished fighter in the Muay Thai world, will travel to the Netherlands for his first international fight at Slamm VII Holland vs Thailand, a major event on the global Muay Thai calendar. With his country watching devotedly and thousands of fight fans eager to see how he performs, Pornsaneh will carry a lot of hope and expectations along with a lifetime of experience and training.

Meanwhile, 17 year-old Yodkhoonpon finds himself on the other side of the spectrum. Finally getting recognized for his talent in the ring, the Thai press has sometimes referred to Yodkhoonpon as a young Pornsaneh. His matches are often exciting, edge of your seat affairs and as such he has attracted a lot of attention from the national community. With a string of knockouts to his name, the young fighter has won against many top-ranked fighters, and is well on his way to becoming a champion himself.

The sport of Muay Thai itself is a fascinating and complex subject, steeped in culture and tradition and strongly tied into the socio-economic structure of the country. We will take you behind the scenes to look into this world as we follow both Pornsaneh and Yodkhoonpon preparing for their upcoming bouts. The film will explore what the life of a Muay Thai fighter is like, growing up in a camp, the Sitmonchai family, the fighters’ thoughts on Muay Thai, why they fight, how they feel about their upcoming matches.

Who Are Pornsaneh & Yodkhoonpon Sitmonchi?

Pornsaneh and Yodkhoonpn are both Muay Thai (literally ‘Thai boxing’)' fighters who train and fight out of Sitmonchai Gym in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand. Well known in Thailand and around the world for his devastating fighting style, Porsnaneh has been raised in the Sitmonchai family gym since he was a young teenager. Unlike the traditional style of Muay Thai, Pornsaneh uses hand combinations and powerful leg kicks, often achieving leg shattering TKOs. From the start of the bell until the end of each round, you’ll find him shooting off a barrage of punches and these signature low kicks which have allowed him to accumulate half the wins on his record by KO.

A highly decorated fighter, he has won numerous titles such as
126 lb Lumpinee Champion 2010
126 lb Thailand Champion 2010
126 lb WMC World Champion 2010
118 lb Rajadamnern Champion 118lb
DELO-Cup Champion 118lb
Toyota 8-Man Tournament Champion
Fight of the Year 2010 (Versus Pakorn Sakyotin)
Lumpinee Favourite Fighter 2010

Pornsaneh is considered old by Muay Thai standards in Thailand. It becomes increasingly difficult for fighters his age to stand toe to toe with Thailand’s younger and stronger fighters – most of whom start training and fighting at around 10 years old. Having just turned 30 in 2011, Pornsaneh is now looking for a new experience in the ring and as the international Muay Thai community grows, so has his interest in fighting abroad.

Yodkhoonpon, in contrast, is a fresh young fighter in his prime, and in the past year has quickly climbed the ranks at the top two stadiums at Bangkok. Fighting for the Lumpinee title near the end of 2011 against rising prospect Eakmongkol Gaiyang 5 Daow Gym, Yodkhoonpon lost the fight, only to win a rematch later that year.

Having grown up together in the gym, the two fighters are like brothers and support each other whole-heartedly in their careers. Their relationship will also be explored in the film as Porsnaneh is a natural born mentor to Yodkhoonporn, now on the brink of becoming an adult.
