A five-round middleweight clash pitting Mark Munoz against Chris Weidman has been tapped as the main event of UFC on FUEL 4.
UFC on FUEL 4 is slated for July 11, 2012, though a location and venue have yet to be confirmed for the summer event. UFC officials broke the news on Tuesday night's episode of UFC Tonight.

Munoz (12-2) rides into the bout sporting a four-fight winning streak, including a trio of victories last year over the likes of C.B. Dollaway, Demian Maia and Chris Leben that pushed his name into title contention. Munoz was previously booked to fight Chael Sonnen in a No. 1 contenders bout at UFC on FOX 2, however the 34-year-old abruptly withdrew from the event less than two weeks out due to an influx of bone spurs in his elbow.

Munoz's exit paved the way for Weidman (8-0) to enter as a late replacement at UFC on FOX 2, where he ultimately earned the biggest win of his career by out-pointing Maia for a unanimous judges' nod. The former two-time All-American trains under the guidance of former UFC champion Matt Serra and is 4-0 thus far in his brief UFC career, counting dominant victories over Alessio Sakara, Jesse Bongfeldt and Tom Lawlor.

Jon Fitch Withdraws From UFC on FUEL TV 4 Due to Injury

Another day, another UFC fighter pulls out of an upcoming bout due to an injury.

On Saturday, WrestlingObserver.com reported that a knee injury forced Jon Fitch to withdraw from his UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight against Aaron Simpson. MMAFighting.com later confirmed the story with Fitch's trainer "Crazy" Bob Cook.

No word just yet on who will replace Fitch against Simpson, who is scheduled to make his welterweight debut on the card.Fitch (23-4-1, 1 NC) was looking to bounce back from the worst loss of his career in December -- a 12-second knockout to Johny Hendricks at UFC 141.

UFC on FUEL TV 4, headlined by Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman, will take place Wednesday, July 11, at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Joey Beltran Back With UFC, Faces James Te Huna at UFC ON FUEL 4

It didn't take long for Joey Beltran to get his return ticket to the UFC.

The slugger was released in January after a second straight loss, but reinvented himself as a light-heavyweight and won on the regional circuit in April. And now, with a glut of injuries to the UFC's talent roster, Beltran will get a chance to return.
He'll take on James Te Huna at UFC on FUEL 4, the UFC confirmed on Monday.

Te Huna was left opponent-less when his original foe, Brandon Vera, was plucked from their matchup to face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC on FOX 4.

Beltran made a name for himself with a crowd-pleasing style that bordered on brawler, but after a 2-0 start in the octagon, he lost four of his last five. In his last fight, he suffered the first knockout loss of his career, getting finished by Lavar Johnson in the first round of their bout.

Beltran though, was always a small heavyweight, weighing 228 pounds for his fight with Johnson, so the shift to the lower division seemed a logical shift. His maiden voyage to the weight class went off well, as he beat Anton Talamantes by decision in his first outing, improving to 14-7.

In Te Huna, he'll be facing an opponent with major knockout power. Te Huna (14-5) is 3-1 in his UFC career thus far, earning knockout finishes of Igor Pokrajac, Ricardo Romero and Aaron Rosa.

UFC on FUEL 4 takes place on July 11 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Nick Penner Injured, Out of UFC on FUEL 4 Fight with Tom DeBlass

A planned UFC on FUEL 4 matchup between Nick Penner and Tom DeBlass will be scrapped after an injury has sent Penner to the sidelines, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to MMA Fighting.

The pair had been scheduled to compete on the prelims of the July 11 event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
For both, it would have been a chance to earn their first octagon wins after falling in their respective UFC debuts.

Penner fought at March's UFC on FX 2 show, suffering a TKO to Anthony Perosh in the final second of the first round. That defeat snapped an eight-fight win streak and dropped his record to 11-2.

DeBlass debuted a month later, facing Cyrille Diabate at UFC on FUEL 2. He accepted the opportunity to compete as a short-notice replacement and fought gamely before losing in a majority decision. It was the first loss of his pro career as he fell to 7-1.

It is currently unknown whether the UFC will seek a replacement for Penner or proceed with an 11-fight card, which is highlighted by a Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman main event.
