After years of speculation, the UFC will make its long-awaited Chinese debut on November 10, 2012 with UFC on FUEL 6, promotion officials announced on Tuesday's episode of UFC Tonight.

The international event is slated to be held in Macau, a special administrative region of China located on the country's eastern shore, at the 15,000 seat CotaiArena inside the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The $2.4 billion hotel opened in 2007 and is currently the largest casino in the world.

"Breaking into a market with a population of over 1.3 billion is both a testament to the growth of our sport and a long-term challenge we are excited to undertake," UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta stated. "This is just the first of many world-class fights we plan to hold over the coming years in China, one of the birthplaces of martial arts."

UFC on FUEL 6 will mark the second UFC event of the year to hit Asia, following February's UFC 144 show, which took place in Saitama, Japan.

Veteran featherweight Zhang Tiequan is currently the only Chinese fighter on the UFC roster.

"This event is a major step in the development of the UFC brand in this region of the world, and China in particular," said Mark Fischer, UFC Managing Director of Asia. "We are delighted by this opportunity to build on the media growth and attention we have received and to finally bring a live event in prime time to the millions of fans in this area, and especially to those lucky enough to come and experience all the excitement of the UFC in person."

UFC Targeting Cung Le vs. Rich Franklin for UFC on FUEL 6 Event

UFC president Dana White wants Cung Le to fight in China, and what White wants, he usually gets. Within hours of winning at UFC 148, Le had already heard from White that he wanted him to compete at UFC on FUEL 6, and even though Le is still recovering from injury, that's still the plan.

As long as Le properly heals up from his recent three-round win over Patrick Cote, he'll be facing Rich Franklin at UFC on FUEL 6, White said in a Thursday press interview in Calgary.

According to him, Le has a bone bruise and is in a walking cast, but the promotion is keeping tabs on his recovery in hopes that he'll take a major slot on the card, which will emanate from Macau, the Chinese gambling and entertainment destination.

"I'm very confident that Cung Le is going to be in China," he said.

Le and Franklin were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 148, but Franklin was pulled from the fight and moved up to UFC 147 headlining status opposite Wanderlei Silva after Silva's original opponent Vitor Belfort was injured.

Franklin (29-6, 1 no contest) went on to win by unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Le's victory over Cote was his first in the UFC after losing to Silva in his octagon debut in 2011.

The original pairing between veteran middleweights is apparently one that the UFC still has an interest in, and as long as Le can soon be cleared, he should have no issues making the November 10 date.

"If he fights in China, he will fight Rich Franklin," White said.

Cung Le vs. Rich Franklin to Headline UFC's Macau Card in November

The UFC's first foray into Chinese territory now has a main event. UFC President Dana White announced at Saturday's UFC on FOX 4 post-fight press conference that Rich Franklin will battle Cung Le in a middleweight scrap for the UFC's scheduled November 10th card in Macau, China.

The event will be the sixth fight event in the UFC on FUEL series and will be held at the 15,000 seat CotaiArena inside the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.

Franklin, 37, most recently fought at UFC 147 in June where he defeated Wanderlei Silva at a 190-pound catchweight bout by unanimous decision. After a run at middleweight where he was champion until 2006, Franklin most-recently competed at light heavyweight, beginning in 2008 with a win over Matt Hamill at UFC 88. This bout with Le marks Franklin's formal return to the 185-pound middleweight division.

Le, 40, was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, but has predominately lived in the U.S. During his run in sanshou kickboxing, Le competed in China on numerous occasions. In the UFC, he most recently fought and defeated Patrick Cote in July at UFC 148 by unanimous decision.

Franklin and Le were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 148, but Franklin volunteered to face Silva at UFC 147 when the original headliner, Vitor Belfort, was removed from the card due to injury.

There are no other known bouts for the UFC on FUEL 6 card at this time.

Kyung Ho Kang out, Motonobu Tezuka meets Alex Caceres at UFC on FUEL TV 6

An injury has forced a late change to next week's UFC on FUEL TV 6 card in China.

Kyung Ho Kang (11-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is out of a bantamweight fight against Alex Caceres (7-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) with a foot injury, which has forced the UFC to turn to a late replacement in the form of Motonobu Tezuka (19-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC). Sources close to the promotion on Friday confirmed the change to MMAjunkie.com, saying verbal agreements are in place for the bout.

UFC on FUEL TV 6 takes place Nov. 10 at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, a special administrative district of China. The main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

Tezuka, from Japan, takes the fight on a week's notice and will enter on a three-fight win streak, including 2-0 in 2012. Before a loss in August 2011, Tezuka was on a 12-fight unbeaten streak, going 10-0-2. The bantamweight has 13 of his 19 wins by decision.

Caceres is coming off an impressive second-round submission win over Damacio Page at UFC on FUEL TV 4 this past July. That got him back in the win column following a split-decision loss to Edwin Figueroa that came after Caceres was docked two points for low kicks.

Kang, from South Korea, was to be making his UFC debut on the strength of a three-fight win streak, all by submission. He has five wins in his past six fights, all by stoppage. But now his UFC debut will have to wait.

UFC on FUEL TV 6 features a main event between former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin and

Hyun Gyu Lim 'medically unfit' to compete, bout against David Mitchell scrapped

The highly anticipated UFC debut of Korean Top Team product, Hyun Gyu Lim has been scrapped after the UFC doctors have deemed him 'medically unfit' to compete. David Mitchell, who is already coming in on relatively short notice for this fight, was left without an opponent forcing officials to scrap the bout. The UFC has since released an official statement about it, also mentioning that Mitchell will be getting paid:

After being examined by doctors it was determined that Hyun Gyu Lim was medically unfit to participate in tomorrow's event and as a precaution, his UFC Macao bout has been canceled. His opponent, David Mitchell, will be paid his show money.
No details were announced, but MMAFighting.com has learned from multiple sources that the medical issue is stemming from a rough weight cut by the Korean. Lim, who stands at 6-foot-2, is massive for a welterweight, and unfortunately the cut eventually led to the cancellation of his UFC debut.

Was daar toen erg tevreden over. Dus had http://www.thefirstrow.eu/sport/boxing-wwe-ufc.html in mijn favorieten gezet.

Mischien accepteert Facebook alleen actieve gebruikers of zo. Het blijft natuurlijk een commerciële KGB/STASI-organisatie dat Facebook
