Travis Browne won't be fighting at UFC on FOX 4 next week anymore, but he will headline UFC on FX 5 in October.

Browne will meet Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva on Oct. 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, the UFC confirmed on Friday. USA Today first reported the news.

The event marks the promotion's first in the "City of Lakes" since UFC 87 in 2008.

Browne was scheduled to fight Ben Rothwell next week, but after Rothwell pulled out of the fight due to an injured ankle Browne was left without an opponent. The UFC decided to leave him off the card and move him over to their fifth FX card. The undefeated Browne (13-0-1) most recently defeated Chad Griggs via submission at UFC 145.

Silva (16-4), the former Strikeforce and EliteXC big man, lost his UFC debut to Cain Velasquez in May. He enters the fight stuck in a two-fight losing streak, with his last win coming against Fedor Emelianenko in Feb. 2011.

The UFC is expected to announce more fights for the card in the coming weeks.

UFC Announces Slew of New UFC on FX 5 Fights

Fight cards usually take shape in bits and pieces, a Tweet there and a rumor here.

On Tuesday night, though, UFC on FX 5 pretty much came together all at once.

The company officially announced six bouts for the October 5 event at Minneapolis' Target Center, some of which had already been rumored.

Here's the rundown:

At heavyweight, Rob Broughton and Matt Mitrione will finally meet after their originally scheduled date at UFC on FOX 4 had to be scrapped. The British Broughton, the former Cage Rage champion, has lost his past two UFC bouts, while Mitrione is looking to shake off his UFC 137 loss to Cheick Kongo.

Josh "The Dentist" Neer returns to action to meet Justin Edwards at welterweight. Neer had a six-fight win streak snapped last month when he was knocked out by Mike Pyle. Edwards, an Ultimate Fighter 13"competitor, has gone the distance in all three of his UFC bouts, losing two.

Veteran Bart Palszewksi will meet Diego Nunes at featherweight. Nunes has been with Zuffa since 2008 and has dropped two of his past three fights, to Denis Siver and Kenny Florian. Palaszewski, a veteran of 51 pro fights, is coming off a UFC 144 loss to Hatsu Hioki.

Palaszewski-Nunes was first set for the original Sept. 5 date in Indianapolis targeted for UFC on FX 5, which later fell through.
In a pair of flyweight bouts, Louis Gaudinot will take on Darren Uyenoyama and John Dodson squares off with Jussier da Silva.

Gaudinot earned fight of the night honors in submitting John Lineker at UFC on FOX 3; Uyenoyama won his UFC debut against "Kid" Yamamoto in November. At 14-1, the Brazilian da Silva is considered one of the world's top flyweights; Dodson, the TUF 14 bantamweight winner, has won four in a row.

Rounding things out in a lightweight bout, Carlo Prater will meet Marcus LeVesseur.

These fights join a previously announced heavyweight bout between unbeaten Travis Browne and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva.

Aaron Simpson Faces Mike Pierce in Welterweight Clash at UFC on FX 5

The fifth installment of the UFC's fight series on FX has another bout. Aaron Simpson will continue his welterweight campaign as he takes on veteran Mike Pierce as part of the UFC on FX 5 fight card. That event is set to be held October 5th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and will be headlined by a heavyweight clash between Travis Browne and Antonio Silva. The match-up was confirmed by MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.

Simpson, 38, began his welterweight efforts in his last fight where he defeated Kenny Robertson by unanimous decision at UFC on FUEL TV 4. His upcoming bout with Pierce marks his second bout in the 170-poiund division after ten fights at middleweight under the Zuffa banner.

Pierce, 31, most recently competed at UFC on FX 3 where he defeated Carlos Eduardo Rocha by unanimous decision. He's 6-3 in the UFC overall with wins over Paul Bradley, Amilcar Alves and others.

x2 vrees het ergste voor silva. zijn enige kans is denk ik naar de grond met hem. hij moet niet staand met brown gaan knokken. dan is het snel gedaan denk ik

SPOILER!

Phil Davis vs. Wagner Prado Do-Over Could Take Place at UFC on FX 5

Wagner Prado barely got started in the UFC before his debut fight was over. Unfortunately for him, the conclusion was hardly satisfying. An unintentional eye-poke from opponent Phil Davis left him unable to continue, and the fight was ruled a no contest.

Prado immediately protested the referee's decision to halt the bout, but at least it appears as though he'll still get a chance to fight Davis. According to UFC president Dana White, the two will try it again, with a targeted date of UFC on FX 5.

White said as long as Prado's eye is OK and he's ready to go, he would face Davis at that event, which is scheduled for October 5 in Minneapolis.

The UFC had no update on Prado's health, however.

Davis' eye-poke came just 88 seconds into their fight, as he appeared to attempt to push Prado away from him. Prado's eye immediately swelled up, and apparently told the referee that he was having trouble seeing before the fight was halted.

The 25-year-old Brazilian had come into the UFC with a perfect 8-0 record. Meanwhile, Davis had been attempting to earn his first win since suffering his first career loss to Rashad Evans in January.

UFC on FX 5 boasts a main event of heavyweight contender Travis Browne taking on Antonio Silva.

UFC on FX 5 weigh-in results: Main-card fighters make weight; Hallman-Tavares off

By Dave Doyle on Oct 4, 5:34p

All eight main-card fighters for Friday night's UFC on FX 5 card at the Target Center in Minneapolis made weight for their bouts.

That includes the main eventers, heavyweights Travis Browne and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. The undefeated Browne (13-0-1), who is looking to solidify his spot in the top 10, weighed in at 246 Thursday on the scales at the Pantages Theater. Silva (16-4), who is looking to overcome his brutal UFC 146 loss to Cain Velasquez, came in at 266.

While the main card fighters made weight, there were issues with the undercard. After the weigh-ins, Fuel TV reported that the planned Dennis Hallman vs. Thiago Tavares fight was canceled. MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani said that Hallman was seven pounds overweight. Tavares said he'd take the fight if Hallman could get to three pounds over, but he couldn't make it. Tavares will make his show money for making weight.

Another undercard fighter missed weight, as veteran featherweight Bart Palaszewski came in at 147 for his bout with Diego Nunes. Palaszewski had an hour to lose the remaining pound or risk forfeiting part of his fight purse.

Full results:

Travis Browne (246) vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (266)
Jake Ellenberger (170) vs. Jay Hieron (170)

Bigfoot hopelijk. Maar ben toch bang dat hij tegen een harde stoot oploopt. Gebruik je BJJ en je wint.

Hoelaat ongeveer trouwens? Op Fox is het meestal wat eerder toch

Jeremy Stephens arrested, today's UFC bout in jeopardy

MMAjunkie.com has reported today that Jeremy Stephens, who was scheduled to main event the Fuel portion of the UFC card today in Minneapolis, was arrested this morning.

The story stated that Stephens has not been formally charged with a crime and no reason was given for the arrest.

Stephens was arrested at the Marriott City Center Hotel in Minneapolis, where the UFC housed all fighters and officials. Stephens was taken to the Hennepin County Police Public Safety facility at 10:44 a.m. and it is unknown when he will be released.

Stephens was scheduled to face Yves Edwards. If the fight is canceled, then all ten remaining fights would be on television, with six on Fuel starting at 5 p.m. and the final four on FX at 8 p.m.

The Dennis Hallman vs. Thiago Tavares fight scheduled for the Fuel broadcast was canceled yesterday when Hallman didn't make weight.

Bigfoot by TKO gnp. Browne is overrated.

Doordat UFC 151 afgelast is is dit nog best een goede kaart.
