Rousey:'If Cris Cyborg Comes Off the Juice, She Won't Have Trouble Making The weight'

In the wake of Strikeforce (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/promotion/strikeforce) Women's Bantamweight (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/weight_class/bantamweight) champion Ronda Rousey's (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/131295/ronda-rousey) first title defense, all the WMMA talk has surrounded her fighting former Featherweight (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/weight_class/featherweight) champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/129822/cristiane-santos). Santos spent her Strikeforce career dominating the 145 lb. division before testing positive for steroids following her bout with Hiroko Yamanaka (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/143750/hiroko-yamanaka)in December. With Santos's year long suspension nearing its end, both women have been discussing the possibility of a WMMA super fight.
Monday night, MMA Live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJepLelYfh0&list=PL7486E1996830741A&feature=g-all-a) got Rousey's thoughts on fighting Cyborg:
You know what? That girl's been cheating for her entire career and she's not the champion. She was stripped of her belt. It's not like she was fighting before and suddenly you saw huge muscle mass increase in her last fight. Everyone can tell she's been cheating her entire career. The whole time she's had that belt, I think, is just a fraud. If she comes off the juice she won't have a problem making the weight.
Now that she sees she's probably going to get her but kicked...she's saying she can't make it. Who else is she gonna fight besides me anyway? I got a whole line of girls waiting to fight me and she needs to fight me or else she's pretty much done.
She has to come fight me. She has no other options and I don't owe her anything.

On Saturday, Rousey went out of her way to challenge Santos. Despite that and her strong words here, she's actually making it more difficult for the fight to happen. As Fraser Coffeen explained (http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/8/19/3253536/strikeforce-results-ronda-rousey-vs-cyborg-sarah-kaufman-armbar-superfight), weight class disputes have a long history of destroying potential inter-divisional bouts. Santos went on record last week to say she would not be able to make the 135 lb. Bantamweight limit. If that's true and Rousey refuses to compromise in a Catchweight bout, it's unlike that this fight will come to fruition.

en dit is maar 1 artikel van de inmiddels zovele op amerikaanse mma sites. het gaat er hard aan toe tussen die 2, allemaal hype of zal er echt een beef tussen die 2 zitten?. cyborg zij paar dagen terug dat rousey maar een verwende snol was volgens mij en het is echt een bitchfight aan het worden, ben benieuwd en mocht die gevecht er komen ben ik wel heel benieuwd wie beter is. ik zou zeggen in eerste instantie cyborg doormiddel van KO snel maarja die submission aanvallen van rousey zijn wel echt ziek! poeh..

Denk dat Rousey een beetje bang is van Cyborg, ze heeft al 2 keer eerder in SF op 145 lb gevochten en nu wil ze perse dat Cyborg een gewichtklasse naar beneden gaat. Als het er ooit van komt hoop ik dat Rousey wint maar ik vrees het ergste voor haar.

Als je naar bijvoorbeeld naar deze foto kijkt snap ik dat Cyborg zegt dat ze niet naar 135 kan cutten, ze ziet er hier al ripped uit.

Cyborg is sowieso juiced. Als ik Rousey was zou ik ook niet een gewichtsklasse omhoog om tegen een juicende Cyborg te vechten simpelweg omdat Cyborg een unfair advantage heeft. Want ze kan de roids eruit cyclen tegen de tijd dat het gevecht plaatsvindt. Cyborg kan naar 135 cutten net zoals bijv. Demian Maia en Yoshihiro Akiyama naar 170 hebben gecut, dus ze moet niet ouwehoeren dat ze t niet kan. Rousey hoeft helemaal niks, zij is champ en heeft genoeg opties, Cyborg niet. End of story lijkt me.

Dacht dat ik de enige was. Ze praat te veel, maar begrijp de gedachte erachter wel. Ze market zichzelf zoals veel vechters dat voor haar hebben gedaan. Ik respecteer haar prestaties in de octagon maar ze blijft een one trick pony IMO. Ik sla Cyborg vooralsnog hoger aan (juice of niet).

Dat ze iedereen op armbar pakt maakt haar geen Cody McKenzie. Ze heeft een medaille in judo gepakt op de Olympische spelen, ze kan echt bizar goed grapplen. Kijk maar naar haar laatste gevecht, die laatste techniek die ze bij de take-down gebruikt, een soort uitschoppen van haar been heb ik nog nooit in MMA gezien en ik kijk toch al een tijdje. Haar kickboksen is natuurlijk op zijn best matig, maar als het naar de grond gaat heeft ze meer dan genoeg mogelijkheden om van Cyborg te winnnen.

Then again, ik zou gewoon naar 145 gaan als ik haar was, dan laat je pas echt zien dat je een bad motherfucker bent.

Die Ko-Uchi-Gari om Kaufman op de grond te krijgen was wel fantastisch hoor, het is mooi om te zien dat ze d'r judo ervaring zo enorm goed gebruikt. En het is nu aan de anderen om daar een antwoord op te gaan vinden.

En alle sporters die op een gegeven moment een sport gaan domineren krijgen haters. 'k Vind het niet meer dan normaal dat zij nu de eisen voor een titelgevecht mag neerzetten...

Sep 4, 2012 - Could a battle of Olympic medalists be the next big fight in women's MMA? That's a possibility after Strikeforce (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/promotion/strikeforce) added undefeated bantamweight Sara McMann (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/157149/sara-mcmann).
According to a Tuesday press release sent out by the Invicta Fighting Championships, the Takoma Park, Md. native and 2004 Olympic freestyle wrestling silver medalist is being sent to Strikeforce.
This could potentially put her on a collision course with undefeated Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/131295/ronda-rousey), the 2008 Olympic judo bronze medalist.
The move comes on the heels of Strikeforce sending its former women's bantamweight champion,Sarah Kaufman (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/122594/sarah-kaufman)n, over to Invicta to compete on its Oct. 6 show in Kansas City against Caitlin Young.
"Since we established Invicta FC at the beginning of this year, our goal has been to produce the best possible matchups between women mixed martial artists," stated Invicta president Shannon Knapp. "And, to achieve this, we sometimes need to import talent like Sarah Kaufman from elsewhere as well as to send talent like Sara McMann to a place like Strikeforce where there is a healthy amount of championship level professional women’s MMA competition just like there is on our roster."
McMann improved to 6-0 in her MMA career on July 28 when she scored a unanimous decision over veteran Shayna Baszler (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/131285/shayna-baszler) in a match-of-the-year-candidate caliber contest.
"I am saddened not to be fighting in the first Invicta FC bantamweight title fight," stated McMann. "I am not sure how long my MMA career will last and, with the time I have left in the sport, I need to take every opportunity that comes my way to fight the best competition out there, so this move is part of a bigger picture for me.
"Since Invicta FC and Strikeforce work closely together," McMann continued, "I hope I will have another opportunity to fight for Invicta FC. Shannon Knapp and [Inicta FC matchmaker] Janet Martin have treated the other fighters and me better than any other promotion I have ever worked with and I am grateful to them for helping me with this opportunity in Strikeforce.
Details on McMann's first Strikeforce bout have not yet been determined. Likewise, Rousey does not yet have a next opponent named in the wake of her first-round stoppage win over Kaufmann on Aug. 18.
