FOTOVERSLAG - Respect FC 8 - Bayer-Halle, Wuppertal 22 september

Vorige week werd ik door Mixfight broeder Bosco Baracus benaderd om de ringfotografie te verzorgen in het verre Wuppertal waar zijn Respect deel 8 gepland stond. Meerdere Mixfight fotografen waren altijd lovend over zijn organisatie en events geweest en dus was het eens tijd om dat zelf te ondervinden.

Na een aardige roadtrip door Nederland en Duitsland, gesteund door wat blikjes Monster (zowel heen- als terug) kwam ik aan in Wuppertal waar men in de Bayerhalle een zeer mooi uitziend geheel had gecreëerd. Na binnenkomst werd ik bijgepraat door forumbroeder Marco die al aangaf dat de Respect FC een ware groeicurve door de jaren heen had laten zien. De bedoeling van de organisatie is om elke keer weer een steeds beter event neer te zetten. Lijkt me persoonlijk een goede doelstelling! Men gaat hier in Duitsland duidelijk voor de kwaliteit, terwijl in het verleden vaak in Nederland de kwantiteit de boventoon leek te voren. Men had deze keer een zeer mooie grote ring, vernieuwde touwen (6) en een extra uitloop. Handig voor de fotografen en cameramensen, maar ook zeer tijdsbesparend voor de rondemissen, die ook uit Nederland waren gekomen. Deze hoefden niet in de ring te komen. Wat me opviel tijdens de partijen was het snelle verloop van de rustmomenten tussen de partijen door. Deze waren zeer scherp en zodoende zat er aardig vaart in de partijen die ik zelf goed gematched vond. Echte grote niveau verschillen waren er niet echt vond ik. Ook de beslissingen van de jury waren allemaal goed, al had ik zelf de partij tussen Jessy Schwarz en Anke Muller een onbeslist gegeven.

De volledige uitslagen staan hieronder, gevolgd door het fotoverslag van de partijen. De avond zelf kenmerkte zich door een uitstekende sfeer en leuke partijen. Voor het publiek die massaal naar Wuppertal was gekomen stond een mooie lijst op het programma en er was genoeg extra's te verkrijgen. Een enorme diversiteit aan t-shirts, broekjes etc etc. Het was allemaal op Respect8 aanwezig. Ook voor de interne mens was veel oog. De Veltins bierkraam met bijbehorende braadworsten draaier mocht in Duitsland niet ontbreken. Kortom: Topevenement!

De enige damespartij van de avond was de ontmoeting tussen de Duitse Muller en de Nederlandse Schwarz van Deltaserat uit Groningen. Vanaf de eerste ronde was Schwarz zeer dominant in het staande gevecht en kreeg Muller veel te verduren maar op de grond was het een ander verhaal. Muller is handiger, maar Schwarz was zeker geen walk over. Ook zijn manoeuvreert zich goed en neutraliseert Muller waarna een ware slijtageslag werd uitgevochten. Muller is na drie ronden compleet de weg kwijt, maar wint wel de partij op punten. In dit geval had een onbeslist beter geweest.

De partij was nog niet echt goed van start gegaan of Kapranov brengt zijn tegenstander naar de grond en legt een mooie armklem aan. Petropoulos had geen andere optie dan afkloppen. Kapranov wint deze partij vrij eenvoudig op submission.

In de vierde partij van de avond zag men een soortgelijk verloop als de vorige partij. "The Hybrid" Charles brengt zijn tegenstander Talmon, die meer gedacht had een potje te gaan kickboksen vrij gemakkelijk naar de grond, legt een armklem aan en wint de partij op submission.

De Nederlander van Rooy maakte er een aardig slugfest van in zijn pot tegen Danho. Het werd matten 2.0 en beide heren kleunen wat af. Danho is hierin de sterkere en weet van Rooy goed te raken met harde opstoten. Teleurstellende partij van Rooy die deze verliest op TKO.

In het zwaargewicht was het "The Rock" Stefan die met een aardig goed lijkend figuur zijn bijnaam eer aandeed tegen Barjamaj. In de beginfase komt Stefan nog goed door, maar Barjamaj blijkt toch een stuk lastiger dan gedacht. Met harde knieën en ellebogen sloopte hij de "The Rock" stukje bij beetje en uiteindelijk springt scheidsrechter Marco Broersen tussenbeide. Stefan kan niet meer, zakt door zijn knieën en Barjamaj wint deze partij op TKO.

Voor de thuisvechter "The Punisher" Masuch eindigd deze partij niet zoals gehoopt. Neufang is scherp en weet zeer handig een armklem aan te zetten. Tegen de verwachtingen van de fans van "The Punisher" wint Neufang de partij op submission.

"Johnnie Beton" vs "Fast Hands". Leuke partij om te zien, terwijl de acties over en weer gingen. Uiteindelijk na het nodige grondwerk komt van Waeyanberghe in een side mount uit en kan een armklem aanzetten. Hij wint de partij dan ook op submission.

De Rotterdam Chan laat zien dat hij een zeer explosieve beuker is en hij weet "The Machine" Erdinc aardig hiermee te verrassen. Helaas loopt Chan vroegtijdig in de partij op een stoot welke zijn ooglid openscheurt. De dokter vind het niet meer verantwoord en Erdinc vind op medische interventie. Jammer, want hier had meer ingezeten voor Chan.

Dé partij van de avond voor de Nederlandse fans aanwezig en ook meteen dé teleurstelling van de avond. Volgens RespectFC de beste Duitse vechter in het lichtgewicht Ruben Crawford tegen de W.F.C.A. kampioen Duane van Helvoirt. Op papier een zeer goede matchup en het begin van beide vechters was afwachtend te noemen. Het is al wel snel duidelijk wat de intenties van beide heren zijn. Crawford voelt zich staand erg comfortabel en van Helvoirt wil niets liever dan de partij op de grond eindigen. Het is daarom ook wel frustrerend voor van Helvoirt dat hij niet één keer een goede poging lukt om goed te shooten en de Duitser is vlijmscherp. Hij wil koste wat kost staand vechten en daar is hij verdraaid handig in. Met simpele maar goed getimede jabs houd hij van Helvoirt op afstand die ook nog eens achteruit vecht. Langzaam komt de Duitser naar voren en als van Helvoiet aanstalte maakt om actie te ondernemen gooit hij snel zijn rechter cross eruit. Voor van Helvoirt niet echt een goede situatie en na drie ronden is het wel duidelijk dat hij deze partij op punten verloren had. Zoals hij zelf al eerder aangaf: "Back to the drawing boad"

In het lichtgewicht tot 70 kilogram stond de Duitser "The Weasel" Weichel tegen Semen Tyrrlya uit Wit Rusland. De Duitser laat zien dat hij een zeer complete vechter is. Staand is hij handig en met mooie gesprongen knieën en vanuit een clinch situatie scoort hij goed. Ook op de grond laat hij het één en ander zien en uiteindelijk moet Tyrlya in een guillotine choke verwurgd afkloppen.

Persoonlijk kende ik de "Gazelle" totaal niet, maar als Respect FC kampioen moet je zeker wat kunnen lijkt me. Toen ik hem voor het eerst zag die avond deed hij me in enig opzicht aan Bob Schreiber denken. Ook van ingewijden vernam ik dat Schmiedeberg een enorm sterke conditie had en een grote fighting spirtit bezat. Zijn opkomst was in ieder geval al erg vermakelijk. Eerst kwam er een magere hein op het toneel en begon één of ander verhaal in het Duits te vertellen. Wat er allemaal werd gezegd kreeg ik in ieder geval niet mee, maar hij had zeker de aandacht van het publiek. Zijn verhaalde duurde nog aardig lang en vervolgens kwam de publiekslieveling zelf ten tonele. Misschien dat forumbroeder Bosco hier wat meer van weet. Tegenstander Bajor stond al in de ring en de partij kon beginnen. lang duurde het echter niet, de opkomst was een langer verhaal. Als een duveltje uit een doosje wist Schmiedeberg een beenklem aan te zetten en de scheidsrechter kwam snel tussenbeide. Schmiedeberg wint de titelpartij op submission in de eerste ronde en verdedigde voor de tweede maal zijn RespectFC titel.

De laatste partij van de avond was ook meteen de meest beladen. Had al zo'n vermoeden dat Abu Azaitar populair moest zijn hier toen ik stands met shirts zag in de pauzes met zijn nickname erop. Al bij de opkomst was de sfeer beladen. De gehele avond was deze zeer gemoedelijk geweest, maar na zijn opkomst met vlag moest zijn aanhang toch het één en ander scanderen. De organisatie was hier echter scherp en melde voor aanvang dat de gehele Azaitar fanclub plaats moest nemen omdat anders de partij niet zou doorgaan. Hoewel de gehele partij maar één ronde duurde was het wel de dikste ronde van de gehele avond. Na een afwachtend begin gingen beide vechters vol in de aanval. Staand is Azaitar beter. Beide incasseerden treffers, maar Naruszczka zag zijn kans schoon toen hij Azaitar naar de grond werkte. Zwaar gehavend liep Azaitar naar zijn hoek na de eerste ronde en de dokter werd er bij gehaald. Zelfs een leek kon gemakkelijk zien dat het gewoon einde verhaal was voor Azaitar, maar zijn hoek dacht daar toch anders over. Gelukkig is het oordeel van een ringarts, die waakt over de veiligheid van de vechters nog altijd bindend en dus verloor Azaitar zwaar teleurgesteld de partij door medische interventie. Na de partij pakte hij de microfoon om nog even door te geven dat hij Naruszczka KO zou hebben geslagen "als" de partij niet gestaakt was, maar gelukkig is "als" nog steeds verbrande turf.
