GSP vs. Diaz is official for UFC 158.

The UFC announced Georges St-Pierre will defend his UFC welterweight title against Nick Diaz at UFC 158 on March 16 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The GSP title defense is just one of several welterweight matches that were announced Saturday night.

Rory MacDonald will try to avenge the lone loss of his MMA career when he squares off against Carlos Condit. MacDonald lost to Condit via third-round TKO at UFC 115 on June 12, 2010 in Vancouver.

Johny Hendricks, who voiced his displeasure with St-Pierre for wanting to fight Diaz next this past Monday on The MMA Hour, will battle Jake Ellenberger. Hendricks has won his five previous fights, including a 46-second knockout of Martin Kampmann in his last Octagon appearance at UFC 154, while Jake Ellenberger has won four of his previous five fights.

The last fight that was announced will be a rematch between Alessio Sakara and Patrick Cote. Cote got the win at UFC 154 when Sakara was disqualified for illegal strikes to the back of Cote's head.

Bobby Voelker moves over from Strikeforce, meets Patrick Cote at UFC 158

Another Strikeforce fighter has found his way over to the UFC, and Patrick Cote has his new opponent for UFC 158.

Bobby Voelker (24-8 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will meet Cote (18-8 MMA, 5-8 UFC) in March when the UFC returns to Montreal. Promotion officials on Friday announced the new fight booking. It will be Voelker's first fight in 20 months, as well as Cote's debut at welterweight.

UFC 158 is set for March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The card is headlined by the welterweight title defense of Georges St-Pierre against Nick Diaz and also features a rematch between Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit, the only fighter to beat him, and bout between welterweight title contender Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger.

Voelker will enter the bout on a three-fight win streak that includes a pair of second-round TKOs of Roger Bowling in Strikeforce. In the pair's first fight in May 2010, Bowling won a technical decision after an accidental eye poke. The two rematched in October 2010, but that time Voelker came out on top. Strikeforce ordered up the trilogy fight for July 2011, and again Voelker won by TKO to improve to 4-1 in Strikeforce.

But the Kansas City-based fighter been on the sidelines since then. Now, with the announcement that Strikeforce's Jan. 12 show will be its last on Showtime, and presumably last show, period, he becomes the latest fighter from the promotion to migrate to the UFC.

Cote was expected to rematch Alessio Sakara at UFC 158, a rematch from their fight just this past month at UFC 154, also in Montreal. In that fight, which lasted just 86 seconds, Cote rocked Sakara, then had the tables turned and was finished by him. But Sakara eventually was disqualified for strikes to the back of Cote's head.

The rematch was ordered up, but Sakara had to pull out of the fight earlier this week, citing kidney issues and doctor's orders (http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2011/10/alessio-sakara-out-of-ufc-158-rematch-with-patrick-cote), just two days after it was announced. With Cote's drop to 170 pounds, another fight later with Sakara appears unlikely.

Cote announced his drop to welterweight earlier this week on Twitter (https://twitter.com/patrick_cote/status/281240988763160577), stating: "After a year of thinking and good talk with my coaches and [nutritionist, it's] time. My next fight will be at 170. Thanks for the support."

Cote returned to the UFC this past July, but lost a unanimous decision to Cung Le at UFC 148. The win over Sakara, albeit by DQ, was his first victory in the promotion since a July 2008 split decision win over Ricardo Almeida at UFC 86.

At the time, that made him 4-4 in the UFC with four straight wins in the promotion after starting 0-4 in three separate stints, including a runner-up finish at middleweight on Season 4 of "The Ultimate Fighter." After that loss to Travis Lutter, he rattled off five straight wins, and four in the UFC, to get a middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva.

But in that title bout at UFC 90, Cote blew his knee out in the third round, giving him a TKO loss. He returned 18 months later and lost to Alan Belcher in Montreal at UFC 113. And a loss to Tom Lawlor at UFC 121 sent him back outside the organization again.

Four wins in a year's time got him back, but the loss to Le gave him another four-fight skid in the promotion. The DQ win over Sakara likely saved his job in the octagon, and now he'll be looking for a win that comes without an asterisk next to it.

Dana White expects Nick Diaz to show up for UFC 158 press conferences

The UFC will soon hold a press conference to help kick off ticket sales for the big Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz welterweight title fight at UFC 158 in March.

But while the mercurial Diaz has been known to flake on these sort of events, Dana White says he'd be astounded if the challenger didn't show up for the presser.

"I would find it very hard to believe that he wouldn't," White said. "You know, after what happened last time, he's been sitting out for so long. This is a fight that he wanted, he really wanted this fight bad, and Georges St-Pierre called him out. He's getting it, so yes, I expected Diaz to do it."

White yanked Diaz out of a planned title match against St-Pierre in Oct. 2011 when Diaz blew off a pair of press conferences. But White says that while Diaz isn't a fan of making media rounds, it's a part of a UFC fighter's job.

"Listen, the thing about Nick Diaz, Nick Diaz shows up for fights," White said. "Nick Diaz shows up and fights his ass off. He's not a big fan of the pre-fight promotion, but you have to do it. You have to do it. Whether you're Nick Diaz or Anderson Silva, Whoever you are, it's in your contract. You actually can be cut. We can cut you for that."

Of course, White hasn't yet had the chance to send Diaz this message personally.

"Nick Diaz hasn't returned my calls, my texts, nothing," White said. "It's Nick Diaz. You don't have to call me, you don't have to text me, but you do have to show up for the press conferences. I'd be blown away if he didn't do it."

“This is a fight that [Diaz] wanted, he really wanted this fight bad. And Georges St. Pierre called him out. He’s getting it. I expect Diaz to be there. Nick Diaz does not return my calls or texts. Nothing. It’s Nick Diaz. He doesn’t have to call me, he doesn’t have to text me; but, he needs to show up to the press conference. I would be blown away if he did it twice. It just would not be a good move. The thing about Nick Diaz is that Nick Diaz shows up for fights. Nick Diaz shows up and fights his ass off. He is not a big fan of the pre-fight promotion, but you have to do it. Whether you’re Nick Diaz, Anderson Silva or whoever you are — it’s in your contract. You can actually be cut. We can cut you for that. How fun would the press conferences be if nobody ****ing showed up but me? It wouldn’t be too good. I’ve proved that you be punished if you don’t show up for those things. You either won’t fight the big fight that you were supposed to fight or you’ll be cut.” - UFC President Dana White talking about handling Nick Diaz at the UFC 155 post-fight media scrum

Strikeforce import Jordan Mein meets Dan Miller at UFC 158

Another Strikeforce fighter is ready to make his UFC debut, as Jordan Mein (26-8 MMA, 0-0 UFC) now faces Dan Miller (14-6 MMA, 6-5 UFC) at UFC 158.

The Canadian Press first reported the booking, which adds two more welterweights to a card already loaded with key 170-pound matchups. MMAjunkie subsequently confirmed the bout with sources close to the fighters, and UFC officials later announced the fight.

Miller fights for the second time at 170 pounds. The former middleweight and brother of top UFC lightweight Jim Miller competed 10 times in the octagon as a 185-pounder before dropping to welterweight this past June for a much-needed third-round submission win over Ricardo Funch. The result snapped a two-fight losing streak and preserved the 31-year-old's spot in the promotion.

Meanwhile, "Young Guns" Mein makes his UFC debut at 23 years old. The Canadian fought three times under the Strikeforce banner and earned victories over Tyler Stinson and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos but lost a split decision to a then-undefeated Tyron Woodley. Mein fought in November at Score Fighting Series 7 and earned a TKO victory over six-time UFC veteran Forrest Petz.

Overall, Mein is 8-1 in his past nine appearances.

Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi added to UFC 158 in Montreal

A lightweight matchup that seems sure to provide fireworks has been added to UFC 158 as Daron Cruickshank (12-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) meets John Makdessi (10-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC).

UFC officials on Friday evening announced the pairing.

Featuring a welterweight title fight between current champ Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce title holder Nick Diaz, UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre.

The evening's main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. It's currently unknown where the Cruickshank vs. Makdessi matchup will take place on the evening's lineup.

Cruickshank returns to action on the strentgh if a highlight-reel head-kick knockout of Henry Martinez at this past month's UFC on FOX 5 event. It brought "The Detroit Superstar" to an official 2-0 mark in the octagon following a preliminary round loss to James Vick in an exhibition fight on "The Ultimate Fighter: Live."

Makdessi looks to build on the strength of a November win over fellow Canadian Sam Stout. The unanimous-decision result snapped a two-fight losing streak for Makdessi, who had been undefeated prior to the slide. "The Bull" is technically 3-0 as a UFC lightweight as his two losses both came in catchweight fights.

Makdessi still remains best known for his spectacular spinning backfist knockout of Kyle Watson at UFC 129.

Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring joins UFC 158 lineup

Middleweights Chris Camozzi (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Nick Ring (13-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will meet in March at UFC 158.

Officials today announced the matchup between "The Ultimate Fighter" alumni.

Featuring a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz, UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

It's not clear where Camozzi vs. Ring will be placed on the lineup.

The Colorado-based Camozzi searches for his fourth straight UFC victory following recent wins over Dustin Jacoby (submission), Nick Catone (TKO) and Luiz Cane (decision). He's now 4-1 in his past five fights and 8-2 since mid-2009.

His title hopes could get a boost with a win over Ring, who recently rebounded from his first career loss (a decision defeat to Tim Boetsch) with a decision victory over Court McGee at UFC 149. The Canadian then was slated to fight Costa Philippou at UFC 154 in November, but prior to the weigh-ins, Ring was pulled from the fight due to an illness.

The latest UFC 158 card includes:

Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz - for welterweight title
Jake Ellenberger vs. Johny Hendricks
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring
Jordan Mein vs. Dan Miller
Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi
Patrick Cote vs. Bobby Voelker

Yves Jabouin vs. Johnny Eduardo joins UFC 158's lineup

A bantamweight bout between Yves Jabouin (18-8 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and Johnny Eduardo (26-9 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is the latest addition to March's UFC 158 event.

UFC officials today announced the bout.

Featuring a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz, UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Jabouin vs. Eduardo likely will be part of the prelims.

For Haitian-Canadian fighter Jabouin, it's his first UFC fight in his current hometown, and he'll look to the Montreal crowd for motivation to get back in the win column. The Tristar Gym fighter and former WEC fighter had won three straight fights and entered the title picture before a recent knockout loss to Brad Pickett at UFC on FUEL TV 5 in September.

He now takes on Eduardo, a 17-year Brazilian vet who made his long-awaited UFC debut in 2011. However, he snapped an 11-fight win streak with a decision loss to Raphael Assuncao. However, after an injury layoff, he rebounded this past May with a decision victory over Jeff Curran.

The latest UFC 158 card includes:

Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz - for welterweight title
Jake Ellenberger vs. Johny Hendricks
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring
Jordan Mein vs. Dan Miller
Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi

UFC 158 adds Antonio Carvalho vs. Darren Elkins, Mitch Gagnon vs. Issei Tamura

Two new bouts are set for March's UFC 158 event, including featherweight contenders Antonio Carvalho (15-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) vs. Darren Elkins (15-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC), as well as bantamweights Mitch Gagnon (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) vs. Issei Tamura (7-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the matchups.

UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

It's not clear where the two new bouts will be placed on the lineup.

Carvalho is on a 5-1 run that included a UFC-debut decision loss to Felipe Arantes. However, the Canadian and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has since rebounded with a knockout win over Daniel Pineda and a split-decision victory over Rodrigo Damm (one that most people scored for Carvalho).

His opponent, Elkins, has quietly amassed a four-fight win streak. Since a drop from lightweight down to featherweight, the longtime wrestler has posted consecutive decision victories over Michihiro Omigawa, Zhang Tiequan, Diego Brandao and Steven Siler to move into title contention.

Gagnon, meanwhile, fights in his home soil under the UFC banner for the third straight time. The submission specialist signed with the UFC this past year after six straight wins on the regional circuit. Despite a UFC-debut loss to Bryan Caraway, he rebounded back in September with a submission victory over Walel Watson.

Gagnon looks to build off the win when he fights Issei Tamura, a Japanese fighter who's alternated between wins and losses during his past six fights. He made a UFC debut this past year with a knockout win over Tiequan Zhang but followed it with a TKO loss to Raphael Assuncao after a drop from featherweight to bantamweight.

The latest UFC 158 card includes:

Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz - for welterweight title
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Jake Ellenberger vs. Johny Hendricks
Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring
Patrick Cote vs. Bobby Voelker
Jordan Mein vs. Dan Miller

Mike Ricci vs. Colin Fletcher added to UFC 158

After falling short on their respective seasons of "The Ultimate Fighter," Mike Ricci (7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Colin Fletcher (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will seek redemption at UFC 158.

UFC officials today announced the lightweight fight, though its position on the card is unknown.

UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. The event's main card airs live on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Following an unsuccessful bid to win "The Ultimate Fighter 16," Ricci, who trains at Montreal's Tristar Gym, makes good on a promise to drop from the welterweight to lightweight division.

The 26-year-old Ricci bested Dom Waters, Michael Hill and Neil Magny before being smothered by Colton Smith en route to a decision loss at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.

Professionally, Ricci is 2-3 in his past five outings.

Fletcher, meanwhile, distinguished himself on "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Australia vs. Team U.K.," where his long and lanky frame helped him beat Ben Wall and Richie Vaculik before he was outpointed by Norman Parke on the show's finale.

Fletcher's loss snapped a four-fight win streak in his pro career.

The latest UFC 158 card includes:

Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz - for welterweight title
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Jake Ellenberger vs. Johny Hendricks
Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring
Patrick Cote vs. Bobby Voelker
Jordan Mein vs. Dan Miller
Antonio Carvalho vs. Darren Elkins
Sean Pierson vs. Rick Story

Dana White says Johny Hendricks likely earns title shot with UFC 158 win

While UFC 158's main event features Nick Diaz's bid to unseat UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, the division's next title challenger is also expected to be determined at the show.

UFC President Dana White today said once-beaten Johny Hendricks (14-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) would likely earn a shot at the title should he look impressive at the event against Jake Ellenbeger (28-6 MMMA, 7-2 UFC).

"I'd have to say if Johny Hendricks looks good and wins his fight, it will probably be Hendricks (next)," White said.

UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. St-Pierre vs. Diaz headlines with Hendricks and Ellenberger also meeting on the pay-per-view main card. Today's comments were made at a pre-event press conference promoting the event.

There are some who believe Hendricks should have been the one fighting St-Pierre at UFC 158. After all, the 29-year-old currently boasts a five-fight win streak that includes knockout victories of perennial contenders Martin Kampmann and Jon Fitch. Meanwhile, Diaz was defeated by Carlos Condit in February 2012 and has since been sidelined while serving an NSAC-ordered suspension after failing a post-fight drug screen.

St-Pierre, who openly lobbied for the fight with Diaz, is not among those people.

"I think for me Nick Diaz is the No. 1 contender," St-Pierre said. "He's proven himself many times before. There's a story between us. It's a big fight everyone wants to see.

"Nick wanted that fight for a long time, and I wanted to have that fight for a long time. Now it's time to do it."

St-Pierre and Diaz, of course, were supposed to fight in late 2011 before the challenger no-showed a pair of promotional events and was pulled from the card. That didn't keep him from trashtalking the champion in later interviews, which is a primary reason St-Pierre is so insistent on the matchup.

However, St-Pierre also points to Hendricks' razor-thin split-decision win over Josh Koscheck as a reason he does not deserve top-contender status.

"Johny Hendricks, when I watched the fight with Josh Koscheck, according to me, Josh Koscheck should have won that fight, so I didn't want to fight a guy that lost to a guy I already beat," St-Pierre said.

But all of that doubt could be erased should Hendricks down Ellenberger in UFC 158's co-main event.

Of course, in the ever-changing world of the UFC where timing often dictates opportunities as much as anything else, White said that scenario is simply the most likely and not a guarantee.

"Who knows?" White asked. "We'll see what happens."

New Nick Diaz? White says UFC challenger 'couldn't have been cooler' in Montreal

Could we be on the verge of a new era in the UFC – an era of a new-look Nick Diaz?

Diaz (26-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) this past week was in Montreal along with welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (23-2 MMA, 17-2 UFC) to promote the on-sale date of their title fight at UFC 158 in March.

Given that Diaz became part of MMA infamy in 2011 by missing a pair of news conferences for what was going to be a title fight against St-Pierre, which caused UFC President Dana White to yank him from the fight and replace him with Carlos Condit, his attendance on Wednesday came as a welcomed event in the sport.

White on Saturday told MMAjunkie that when it came to Diaz's disposition for the Wednesday press and fan event at Montreal's Bell Centre, which hosts the March 16 fight card, he was on his game.

"Not only did Nick come, he was on time for everything – I'm pretty sure he didn't miss any flights," White said, a reference to the flights Diaz missed that forced his absence from the aforementioned UFC 137 press conferences. "He couldn't have been cooler. He came there and did what he had to do. He even stuck around and did pictures with the fans after. It was cool."

Diaz has been suspended for the past year after failing a post-fight drug test at UFC 143. After being pulled from the St-Pierre fight at UFC 137 in favor of Condit, he was put into a fight with B.J. Penn. St-Pierre injured his knee and was forced to the sidelines, where Condit waited. Diaz beat Penn, and with St-Pierre sitting cageside, he called out the champ – who then told Dana White he wanted to fight Diaz as soon as he could, and not Condit.

But when a second knee injury forced St-Pierre out for even longer, Diaz and Condit fought for the interim title at UFC 143. Condit won in a close and controversial unanimous decision, but Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites, regardless. His second positive test in Nevada resulted in a yearlong suspension that lifts after this weekend.

White said he understands Diaz's aversion to doing the media events that go hand-in-hand with things like headlining cards and fighting for titles.

"I know he hates to do it, but everybody does," White said. "You guys have no idea. These guys are in their camp, they're in their own little world, and then they've gotta leave and do all the press and media and it's hard. That sounds stupid, but it's harder than people think. You're answering the same questions over and over. But it's what we do. It's part of the game, and everybody wants to talk about making Floyd Mayweather money, but Floyd works his ass off to promote a fight."

White stopped short of saying Diaz was taught a lesson by the UFC when he pulled him from the original title fight with St-Pierre.

But now with a second chance – even though he's coming off a loss to Condit, he jumped past Johny Hendricks in line when St-Pierre said it was the fight he favored right now – perhaps Diaz is bringing a new attitude along with it.

"I don't want to say that he learned a lesson, like, 'Yeah, we taught him a lesson,'" White said. "I think a lot of what he said at the press conference is true. I think he had this feeling like he's been fighting since he was 18 years old, he never caught a break, always felt like he was on the wrong side of the deal since he was 18 years old. He's had a year off, feels like he rested up, healed up some injuries and had some time to relax.

"Without him saying it, I'm sure he's probably pretty excited to be back into it. You take a year off, pretty f---ing boring."

Diaz kon nooit de nummer 1 contender zijn zeker niet na het verlies van Condit , plus een jaar schorsing door NSAC na positief getest bleek te zijn.
Hendrix was de nummer 1 contender maar GSP wilde tegen Nick.

Rory MacDonald scratched from UFC 158, Johny Hendricks now meets Carlos Condit

Canadian contender Rory MacDonald (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has suffered a neck injury in training and has been forced to withdraw from a planned UFC 158 matchup with Carlos Condit (28-6, 5-2). However, the "Natural Born Killer" will still face a fellow top-ranked opponent as Johny Hendricks (14-1, 9-1) has agreed to fill the open slot.

USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie learned of the shuffle while speaking with UFC President Dana White late Monday evening.

"Once we knew Rory had to withdraw, we started looking for potential replacements," White said. "Johny Hendricks called me and said he wanted that fight, so we're going to give it to him a shot at Carlos."

Condit and MacDonald were scheduled for the co-main event of "UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz," which takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The winner was expected to hold an envious position in the company's ultra-competitive 170-pound division and potentially earn a shot at the welterweight title. That might have left Hendricks, who recently dispatched of perennial contender Martin Kampmann in just 46 seconds, again waiting his turn.

Hendricks was already on the fight card at UFC 158, where he was expected to face Jake Ellenberger (28-6, 7-2). But by moving into the matchup with Condit, a onetime title challenger, "Bigg Rigg" now likely boosts his chances for earning a title shot of his own with a victory.

Ellenberger is still expected to compete at the event against an opponent to be determined.

White also revealed his first selection to fill MacDonald's position was incoming Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine (14-3, 0-0). However, the UFC boss said the Belgian fighter turned down the opportunity, allowing Hendricks to step in against Condit.

UFC 158 features a welterweight title bout between current champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce title holder Nick Diaz. The evening's main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

T.J. Dillashaw replaces Mitch Gagnon, meets Issei Tamura at UFC 158

An undisclosed injury has forced Mitch Gagnon (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) out of next month's UFC 158 event, and T.J. Dillashaw (6-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has stepped in as a replacement.

He now meets fellow bantamweight Issei Tamura (7-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at the event.

The Canadian Press' Neil Davidson first reported the opponent switch. Gagnon initially announced his withdrawal via Facebook on Monday.

UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Dillashaw vs. Tamura is slated for the Facebook portion of the card.

Dillashaw looks to continue his success since a runner-up finish on "The Ultimate Fighter 14." After suffering a TKO loss to John Dodson in the reality show's tournament final, the Team Alpha Male fighter has posted back-to-back wins over Walel Watson (decision) and Vaughan Lee (submission). A planned December bout with Mike Easton was halted when Dillashaw suffered an injury.

Tamura, a Japanese fighter, has alternated between wins and losses during his past six fights. He made a UFC debut this past year with a knockout win over Tiequan Zhang but followed it with a TKO loss to Raphael Assuncao after a drop from featherweight to bantamweight.

The latest UFC 158 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)

Champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz - for welterweight title
Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks
Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt
Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring
Colin Fletcher vs. Mike Ricci

PRELIMINARY CARD (FX, 8 p.m. ET)

Nate Marquardt steps in to meet Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158 in Montreal

Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt (32-11-2 MMA, 10-4 UFC) will meet Jake Ellenberger (28-6 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at UFC 158, a source close to the event told MMAjunkie Monday evening.

Marquardt fills a spot left vacant by Johny Hendricks, who was tapped to meet onetime UFC title challenger Carlos Condit when Rory MacDonald was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury.

Marquardt vs. Ellenberger still serves on the March 16 event's pay-per-view main card, which follows prelims on FX and Facebook.

UFC 158 takes place at Montreal's Bell Centre.

Marquardt hopes to rebound after losing his Strikeforce welterweight belt in the promotion's final event, which took place this past month in Oklahoma City. Tarec Saffiedine battered the onetime UFC middleweight title challenger with leg kicks en route to a unanimous-decision win.

In his previous outing, Marquardt, a former UFC middleweight title challenger, captured the Strikeforce belt with a fourth-round KO of Tyron Woodley, who also volunteered to fight Ellenberger at UFC 158.

Marquardt returns to the octagon two years after failing to receive medical clearance to headline UFC on VERSUS 4 against Rick Story, which prompted the promotion to release him. Later, he revealed that a regimen of testosterone-replacement therapy caused his scratch from the event. He got a second chance with the Zuffa-owned Strikeforce and later returned to the UFC when the promotion was shut down.

Ellenberger returns to the cage following a decision over win Jay Hieron this past October at UFC on FX 5. Although far from flashy, the win nevertheless put him back on the right track after Martin Kampmann knocked him out at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, which snapped a six-fight win streak that put him on the list of future contenders.

Injured Johnny Eduardo pulled from next week's UFC 158 lineup

An injury has forced Johnny Eduardo (26-9 MMA, 1-1 UFC) out of next week's UFC 158 event and his bantamweight bout with Yves Jabouin (18-8 MMA, 3-2 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the change, and Eduardo later tweeted that a shoulder injury is to blame.

It's not clear if a replacement will be sought, though with just 10 days until the event, it could be a challenge.

Featuring a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz, UFC 158 takes place March 16 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Eduardo vs. Jabouin was slated for the Facebook portion of the card.

Eduardo, a 17-year Brazilian vet, made his long-awaited UFC debut in 2011. He snapped an 11-fight win streak with a decision loss to Raphael Assuncao, but after an injury layoff, he rebounded this past May with a decision victory over Jeff Curran.

The latest UFC 158 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)

Nick Diaz Chased Georges St-Pierre Around Hotel in 2011, Led to Fight at UFC 158

http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/002/205/990/6827187965_2dc2535a8a_b_crop_exact.jpg?w=650&h=440&q=75

Everyone has been wondering what Nick Diaz did to get Georges St-Pierre so rattled that he personally called UFC President Dana White (http://bleacherreport.com/dana-white) to ask him for their main event fight at UFC 158.
Diaz has obviously tried everything under the sun to get under St-Pierre's skin, but it's nothing new for the Canadian champion; GSP has been called out, criticized and insulted by almost every opponent he's ever faced.
Now, the real incident that caused the rift has been made public by White, and it goes all the way back to 2011 when Diaz called out St-Pierre at UFC 137 following his win over B.J. Penn.
White was a guest on the Jim Rome Show (http://tunein.com/radio/The-Jim-Rome-Show-p35518/) on Wednesday, where he told the story of how Diaz literally stalked St-Pierre around the event's host hotel looking to fight him. For Diaz, it obviously wasn't about finishing their business in the Octagon.

Nobody has talked about this, I haven't said anything about it, but at one of the fights, the one where he really starts calling Georges out, he was chasing Georges around the hotel and like yelling at him and stuff. Georges thought he was going to try to fight him in the hotel. He was just waiting for the elevator doors to open and see Nick Diaz.
Like at the last fight where he said all that stuff after his last fight when he said all that stuff about Georges, he was really messing with Georges bad at the fight, like trying to fight him at the hotel. That really pissed Georges off.
White downplayed the reality of Diaz actually fighting St-Pierre in the hotel (although Diaz has fought an opponent (http://www.mmaweekly.com/mmaweekly-radio-02062006-joe-riggs-and-nick-diaz)in a hospital before), but said the incident caused the Canadian to snap and work very hard to eventually get a shot at "The Stockton Bad Boy."

http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/article/media_slots/photos/000/763/139/hi-res-5756706_crop_exact.jpg?w=340&h=227&q=85

"I don't think that would ever happen, but Georges St-Pierre felt like it was," said White. "Georges has said publicly many times when he was younger he used to get bullied. That's what got him into martial arts. He just has this crazy thing about bullies and he thinks Nick Diaz is a bully."
St-Pierre has faced criticism over his last five fights for all of them ending in decision, but from the sound of things, he's focused on not only beating Diaz, but obliterating him.
"Georges St-Pierre, I talked to him last week, he said 'Dana, you have no idea what I'm going to do to this kid, I wanna make him retire'," said White.
St-Pierre gets his chance on Saturday night in Montreal at UFC 158.

Press conferentie was episch.
