A UFC on FOX event planned for April 20 now has a city and venue.

Multiple sources close to the event on Wednesday told MMAjunkie that HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., is targeted to host the event, which is expected to be UFC on FOX 7.

As of yet, no matchups are confirmed for the fight card.

The UFC's most recent trip to San Jose came this past July with UFC on FUEL TV 4, which featured a middleweight headliner between Mark Munoz and Chris Weidman. The event drew a reported 4,250 fans for a live gate of $163,485 and drew a peak of 291,000 viewers on FUEL TV.

San Jose also is the longtime home of soon-to-expire Strikeforce, which held 15 MMA events at the venue.

Several of Strikeforce's breakout stars, including lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez, middleweight champ Luke Rockhold, heavyweight grand prix champ Daniel Cormier and ex-lightweight champ Josh Thomson, all reside in the Bay Area. All are expected to migrate to the UFC following the promotion's final event, which takes place Jan. 12 at Chesapeake Energy Center in Oklahoma City.

In November, the UFC announced its 2013 FOX event schedule, which begins with UFC on FOX 6 on Jan. 26 in Chicago. Along with the April 20 date for UFC on FOX 7, July 27 is the targeted date for UFC on FOX 8 and Dec. 14 is planned for UFC on FOX 9.

Mir vs cormier ook toegevoegd

"Two of the biggest names in Strikeforce history will make their move to the UFC on Saturday, April 20, with FOX airing both bouts live from San Jose.
In the main event, UFC lightweight boss "Smooth" Benson Henderson will defend his belt for the third time when he takes on Strikeforce's last 155-pound titlist, Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez, in a clash of champions the entire MMA world has been waiting for.
Plus, Daniel Cormier, the Strikeforce Grand Prix heavyweight tournament winner, will return to action quickly after his win over Dion Staring last Saturday to battle two-time heavyweight champ Frank Mir in a long-anticipated showdown."

Ik wil weer eens echte knokpartijen zien, in your face. Melendez komt 'm zeker het leven zuur maken, kan niet wachten op deze partij.

UFC on FOX 7 adds Dan Hardy vs. Matt Brown to San Jose lineup

Remember that one time when Dan Hardy called out Matt Brown for his next fight, and Brown was all about it?

That fight now is happening. UFC officials late Tuesday announced the booking, which earlier in the day was reported by ESPN.

Hardy (25-10 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Brown (16-11 MMA, 6-5 UFC) will meet at UFC on FOX 7, which takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card will be broadcast on FOX following expected prelims on FX and Facebook.

The card will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Benson Henderson and final Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez, plus a heavyweight fight between former champ Frank Mir and Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champ Daniel Cormier.

Hardy in September made it two in a row with a unanimous decision win over Amir Sadollah in front of his hometown crowd in Nottingham, England, at UFC on FUEL TV 5. In May, Hardy snapped a four-fight skid with a "Knockout of the Night" win over Duane Ludwig at UFC 146.

His four-fight losing streak wasn't enough to cost him his job in the UFC, as it would for many fighters. UFC brass, including president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, were outspoken about their love of the Brit's fighting style. His skid started with a welterweight title fight loss to champ Georges St-Pierre at UFC 111, then including a knockout loss to Carlos Condit, a decision loss to Anthony Johnson and a submission loss to Chris Lytle in a "Fight of the Night" performance.

But energized with a two-fight streak and looking for a fight, Hardy this past month in Australia at a Q&A session at UFC on FX 6 said he had been impressed with Brown and would welcome a fight with him. Brown responded in kind on Twitter, and the two did UFC matchmaker Joe Silva's work for him.

Brown has won four straight and five of his past six fights. In December at UFC on FOX 5, he starched Mike Swick with a second-round knockout. Prior to that, he stopped Luis Ramos with a second-round TKO, beat up Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson for three rounds and stopped Chris Cope with second-round punches.

The five wins in six fights were a stark reversal of a three-fight skid in 2010 that had him suffering three straight submission setbacks – and had him on the verge of a pink slip from the UFC. But he survived with a decision win over John Howard and after a submission loss to Seth Baczynski at UFC 139, he started his current tear.

Luke Rockhold wants Vitor Belfort, UFC vs. Strikeforce theme at UFC on FOX 7

If the UFC wants to put together a champion-vs.-champion fight, final Strikeforce middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold is down for a matchup with UFC champ Anderson Silva.

But if Rockhold gets his wish, April's UFC on FOX 7 event at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., could have a pretty interesting theme.

"There aren't a lot of fights that make a lot of sense right now," he today told MMAjunkie radio. "Obviously (Chris) Weidman is injured, and he's out until summer or fall. But Vitor (Belfort) looked pretty good the other night. He turned back the clock and looked like his old self. He's a legend, and I'd be honored to fight the guy. I think that makes a lot of sense."

This past weekend, Belfort returned to the middleweight division and spoiled Michael Bisping's title shot with a vicious second-round knockout. But rather than campaign for a rematch with middleweight champ Silva, Belfort instead focused on light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who defeated him this past September.

However, with Belfort (22-10 MMA, 11-6 UFC) unlikely to get his Jones rematch anytime soon, he needs a high-profile middleweight opponent. Enter Rockhold (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

The Californian said he's talked to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva about some possibilities in the division, but with recent losses from contenders such as Alan Belcher and Tim Boetsch – and another desired opponent, Hector Lombard, scheduled to fight Yushin Okami in March – it's slim pickings.

"But now Belfort won, and he makes sense," Rockhold said. "Lombard could be down the line too. Who knows? I just want to fight. Truthfully, Belfort probably makes the most unless they want to do a champion vs. champion fight (with Silva). But I'm game for whatever they want."

Rockhold, who said he's again training at 100 percent after his recovery from a recent wrist injury, will be ready to go by April. The month already has three UFC events scheduled, including UFC on FOX 7. That April 20 event already features two former Strikeforce fighters, including headliner Gilbert Melendez and noted heavyweight Daniel Cormier (who face UFC Benson Henderson and Frank Mir, respectively).

So why not continue the theme, Rockhold asked?

"I'd love to fight on that card," he said. "I'm from the Bay Area, and there's nothing I'd like more than to make my UFC debut in the Bay Area with all my fans. I'd bring all of Santa Cruz and a lot more. Trust me, we'd pack that place."

So why does he feel he and the other Strikeforce fighters feel like they have something to prove?

"I mean, how could we not?" he said. "We've been dealing with it for quite a while now. There are a lot of nuthuggers out there – UFC nuthuggers. I'd like to come in there and make a splash, and just like everyone else, let's represent the name. Personally, with this card and San Jose being the home of Strikeforce, this being a big FOX card, and we just shut down Strikeforce, let's just do an all-UFC-vs.-Strikeforce card.

"I think that makes a lot of sense and there could be a lot of hype behind that. Then we can really keep score."

Still if an immediate title shot is in the cards, Rockhold's in.

"I really don't care," he said. "A warmup fight would be nice. I'm not going to lie. Anderson Silva, I'm not sure that would make the most sense right now. My name may not be as big as they want to sell a big pay-per-view like that. But if they want that fight, I'm down to take the fight. I'd take it, no questions asked."

Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson added to April's UFC on FOX 7 event

Seven years after he left, Josh Thomson (19-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is returning to the octagon.

UFC officials today announced the ex-Strikeforce lightweight champ will fight Nate Diaz (16-8 MMA, 7-6 UFC) at UFC on FOX 7, which takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

It's not yet known whether the bout will be broadcast on the event's FOX-televised main card or on the preliminary-card, which serves on FX and Facebook.

The venue, however, is a familiar place for Thomson, whose post-UFC residency with Strikeforce netted him his first world title. He later ceded it to current champ Gilbert Melendez.

This past May, Thomson failed to reclaim the belt in a razor-close fight with Melendez, who was booed at the announcement of a split call in his favor.

Nicknamed "The Punk," Thomson ended his Strikeforce tenure with a 10-4 record. He went 2-1 in his first stint with the UFC, which ended in 2004 with a highlight-reel knockout loss against Yves Edwards.

Diaz most recently vied for UFC gold when he took on champ Benson Henderson at UFC on FOX 5. Dominated over five rounds, he lost a unanimous decision, which snapped a three-fight win streak he built following an unsuccessful stint at welterweight.

Diaz's longtime teammate, Melendez, is now set to challenge Henderson for the title in UFC on FOX 7's main event.

Yoel Romero vs. Clifford Starks joins UFC on FOX 7 lineup

A middleweight bout between Yoel Romero (4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Clifford Starks (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is the latest addition to April's UFC on FOX 7 lineup.

UFC executives recently made it official.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Romero vs. Starks likely will be part of the prelims.

Romero, a Cuban fighter now based out of Florida, makes his UFC debut at the event. After opening his career with four consecutive knockouts, the Olympic silver-medal wrestler signed with Strikeforce but suffered a KO loss to former champion Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante in September 2011.

He returns from a 19-month layoff to fight Starks, a former NCAA Division I wrestler. The Arizona-based fighter made his pro MMA debut in 2009 and won eight consecutive fights, which included a decision victory over Dustin Jacoby in his UFC debut. However, most recently, he suffered a submission loss to Ed Herman in early 2012 and now returns from a 14-month layoff of his own.

The latest UFC on FOX 7 card now includes:

Champ Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez - for lightweight title
Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
Matt Brown vs. Dan Hardy
Clifford Starks vs. Yoel Romero

UFC on FOX 7 adds Jury-Nijem, Parke-Tuck, Masvidal-Means, Njokuani-Bowling

Four lightweight fights have been added to the next UFC on FOX event, including fights featuring another pair of Strikeforce imports.

The unbeaten Myles Jury (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) takes on "TUF 13" winner Ramsey Nijem (7-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC); "TUF Smashes" lightweight winner Norman Parke (17-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meets Jon Tuck (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC); Strikeforce vet Jorge Masvidal (23-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC) faces Tim Means (18-3-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC); and fellow Strikeforce crossover Roger Bowling (11-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) fights Anthony Njokuani (15-7 MMA, 2-3 UFC). UFC officials announced the four match ups late Wednesday.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX. The main event is a lightweight title fight between champion Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez. Tickets for the show go on sale next week.

Jury stayed undefeated in December when he outpointed "TUF 12" runner-up Michael Johnson at UFC 155. That win moved the "TUF: Live" vet to 2-0 in the promotion following a submission win over Chris Saunders at the TUF Live Finale this past June in his official UFC debut. The win over Johnson was the first time Jury had gone the distance in a fight after finishing his first 10 opponents. Nijem has won three straight since being knocked out by Tony Ferguson in the TUF 13 Finale in June 2011. He'll fight on his second straight FOX card after being Joe Proctor by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 5 in December.

Parke in December beat Team U.K. teammate Colin Fletcher to win the lightweight crown of the UFC's second international edition of "The Ultimate Fighter." The win was his seventh straight. Of his 17 victories, 15 have come by stoppage – including 12 submissions. For UFC on FOX 7, he'll be fighting in the United States for the first time. Tuck won his UFC debut this past November with a unanimous decision win over Tiequan Zhang at the UFC's debut in China. That win kept the Guam native unbeaten at 7-0, but was his first trip to the judges' scorecards. He, too, will be fighting in the States for the first time.

Masvidal makes his UFC debut after a four-fight run in Strikeforce that saw him go 3-1 with his only loss coming in a lightweight title fight to champ Gilbert Melendez in December 2011. His wins in the promotion saw him take decisions from Billy Evangelista, K.J. Noons and Justin Wilcox. The American Top Team-trained "Gamebred" has 10 knockout wins on his resume, but none since November 2009. Means this past June stayed unbeaten in the UFC with a fast TKO of Justin Salas at UFC on FX 3 in Florida. He is on an 11-fight unbeaten streak that includes 10 wins and eight stoppages.

After going 4-3 in Strikeforce, Bowling makes his UFC debut looking to get back in the win column after a unanimous decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine in August. That win propelled Saffiedine to a title fight with Nate Marquardt, which he won this past month at the promotion's finale to become the last Strikeforce welterweight champion. Before the setback to Saffiedine, Bowling had back-to-back knockouts against Jerron Peoples and Brandon Saling. Njokuani has been up and down for more than three years and hasn't been able to put together a win streak since 2009, when he won three straight "Knockout of the Night" bonuses in the WEC. Since coming to the UFC, he has alternated losses and wins with decision setbacks to Edson Barboza, Danny Castillo and, this past July, Rafael dos Anjos – also in San Jose. His UFC wins have come over Andre Winner and John Makdessi, both by decision.

The UFC on FOX 7 card now includes:

Champ Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez - for lightweight title
Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
Matt Brown vs. Dan Hardy
Myles Jury vs. Ramsey Nijem
Jorge Masvidal vs. Tim Means
Norman Parke vs. Jon Tuck
Roger Bowling vs. Anthony Njokuani
Clifford Starks vs. Yoel Romero

Lorenz Larkin makes UFC debut vs. Francis Carmont at UFC on FOX 7 in San Jose

Unbeaten former Strikeforce standout Lorenz Larkin (13-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his UFC debut in April against Francis Carmont (20-7 MMA, 4-0 UFC)

UFC officials on Saturday announced the fight for the next UFC on FOX show this April.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Carmont vs. Larkin likely will be part of the prelims.

Larkin, a former light heavyweight now fighting at middleweight, comes to the UFC after going 4-0 in Strikeforce. He did suffer a loss to former champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal in January 2012, but that loss was overturned after Lawal tested positive for steroids. In July, he made his debut at 185 pounds and outpointed Robbie Lawler to a unanimous decision victory. Of his 13 wins, eight have come by knockout or TKO.

Carmont is coming off a split-decision win over Tom Lawlor at UFC 154 in November that kept him unbeaten in the UFC at 4-0 and stretched his win streak to nine fights. The Frenchman hasn't lost since April 2008, which dropped him to 11-7 overall. But he went on a 5-0 run with five stoppages to get his invite to the UFC, and since signing he has wins over Chris Camozzi, Magnus Cedenblad, Karlos Vemola and Lawlor. The Tristar Gym-trained Carmont will look to make it five straight in the UFC and 10 straight overall, as well as spoil Larkin's UFC debut.

The latest UFC on FOX 7 card now includes:

Champ Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez - for lightweight title
Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
Matt Brown vs. Dan Hardy
Myles Jury vs. Ramsey Nijem
Jorge Masvidal vs. Tim Means
Clifford Starks vs. Yoel Romero
Norman Parke vs. Jon Tuck

Chad Mendes vs. Clay Guida added to UFC on FOX 7

Chad Mendes didn't have to wait long for a new assignment. One day after learning that he had been pulled off of UFC 157 after no suitable opponent was found for him, he's back in the game, scheduled to fight Clay Guida at UFC on FOX 7.

The pairing essentially amounts to a two-month delay for Mendes, as UFC on FOX 7 takes place on April 20, eight weeks after UFC 157.

The matchup was reported by USA Today and confirmed by UFC president Dana White.

A former No. 1 contender in the UFC featherweight division, Mendes (13-1) is coming off of back-to-back knockout wins of Yaotzin Meza and Cody McKenzie. He had been scheduled to face Manny Gamburyan before multiple injuries forced Gamburyan from the Feb. 23 card.

In Guida, he'll be facing a higher-ranked opponent with a bigger name. The former lightweight dropped to featherweight in his last matchup, a split-decision victory over Hatsu Hioki that was highly controversial. Guida largely won on the strength of three takedowns, as he was out-struck 74-40 overall in the bout, according to FightMetric. Prior to that, he lost back to back decisions to Benson Henderson and Gray Maynard while competing at 155 pounds.

Guida is 30-13 overall.

The addition bolsters an already strong card, highlighted by a lightweight championship main event between Henderson and Gilbert Melendez. Other agreed-upon matchups include Frank Mir vs. Daniel Cormier, Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson and Dan Hardy vs. Matt Brown.

The show takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

UFC on FOX 7 adds Benavidez vs. Uyenoyama, Rivera vs. Viana

Next month's UFC on FOX 7 event has two new additions.

They include flyweights Joseph Benavidez (17-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) vs. Darren Uyenoyama (8-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC), as well as bantamweights Francisco Rivera (9-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) vs. Hugo Viana (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the fights.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

It's not clear where Benavidez vs. Uyenoyama and Rivera vs. Viana will be placed on the lineup.

Benavidez, a former WEC title challenger, has won five of his past six fights, and the lone loss came in a fight with Demetrious Johnson for the inaugural UFC flyweight title. However, the Team Alpha Male fighter recently rebounded from the title loss with a decision victory over Ian McCall.

He takes on California-based fighter Uyenoyama, who's posted wins over Norifumi Yamamoto and Phil Harris since his arrival in the UFC. The Harris victory marked the former Strikeforce and DREAM fighter's move down from bantamweight to flyweight.

Rivera, meanwhile, looks to extend his unbeaten streak to six fights following recent UFC victories over Alex Soto and Edwin Figueroa. The California-based WEC vet would be 3-0 in the UFC, but a 2012 win over Roland Delorme was overturned when Rivera tested positive for an over-the-counter stimulant.

Viana, a semifinalist on "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil," made his UFC debut after the reality show and scored a split-decision victory over John Teixeira. He then dropped to bantamweight and recently scored a knockout victory over Reuben Duran, which marked the first stoppage win of his undefeated career.

The latest UFC on FOX 7 card includes:

Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez - for lightweight title
Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
Matt Brown vs. Dan Hardy

Injury forces Clay Guida out of UFC on FOX 7 bout with Chad Mendes

An injury has forced Clay Guida (30-13 MMA, 10-7 UFC) out of next month's UFC on FOX 7 event and his preliminary-card bout with Chad Mendes (13-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC).

MMAjunkie today confirmed Guida's withdrawal with a source close to the event, though the nature of his injury wasn't disclosed. Sherdog first reported it.

UFC officials haven't made a formal announcement or named a replacement.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Mendes, who looks for a third straight win since a failed bid to take Jose Aldo's featherweight title in early 2012, initially was slated to fight Manny Gamburyan this past month at UFC 157. However, when his opponent dropped off the card with an injury, Mendes instead was paired up with Guida.

The former title challenger most recently fought at UFC on FX 6, where he also faced a late replacement. Yaotzin Meza replaced Hacran Dias on less than a week's notice and suffered a quick knockout loss to Mendes, who's slated for UFC on FOX 7's featured prelim.

Guida, meanwhile, recently earned a narrow split-decision win over Hatsu Hioki, which ended a two-fight skid for the former lightweight contender.

The latest UFC on FOX 7 card includes:

Champ Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez - for lightweight title
Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
Matt Brown vs. Dan Hardy

Darren Elkins steps in for Clay Guida, meets Chad Mendes at UFC on FOX 7

After his Saturday win at UFC 158, Darren Elkins was looking for a Top 10 opponent. The UFC will oblige him, and then some – and in a hurry.

Elkins (16-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) stopped Antonio Carvalho (15-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) this past weekend with a first-round TKO to improve to 5-0 as a featherweight – the first fighter to attain such a mark in the UFC.

The quick win put him in position for a quick return, and he'll step in for an injured Clay Guida and meet Chad Mendes (13-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) at UFC on FOX 7 next month. Sources with knowledge of the fight told MMAjunkie of the booking. UFC officials later made a formal announcement.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card, featuring a lightweight title fight between champion Benson Henderson and final Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez, airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Mendes vs. Elkins likely will take the featured slot on FX.

Elkins' win over Carvalho marked his first stoppage victory as a featherweight after four straight unanimous-decision victories. Although the former lightweight was dominant in his wins and frequently worked to end the fights, the nature of the unanimous decisions kept him flying under the radar at a quiet 4-0 at 145 pounds.

Prior to the fight with Carvalho, he told MMAjunkie.com he was seeking a stoppage in order to start making some waves. And he got it – though it didn't come without controversy. Many believed the fight was stopped early when Carvalho quickly popped back to his feet just as referee Yves Lavigne was holding back Elkins from landing more punches. But even Carvalho admitted after the fight he was in trouble from the punches.

Before the TKO of Carvalho, Elkins had scored decision wins over Steven Siler, Diego Brandao, Michihiro Omigawa and Tiquan Zhang in the UFC.

Mendes has won two straight, both by first-round knockout, after losing a featherweight title fight to Jose Aldo at UFC 142. In that fight, the champ knocked him out with just one second left in the first round, which marked the first loss of Mendes' career.

But he came back this past July to stop Cody McKenzie with a body shot in just 31 seconds, and in December, he beat newcomer Yaotzin Meza with a knockout in less than two minutes.

Mendes, a Team Alpha Male product, has been plagued with opponent switches of late. He was supposed to meet Hacran Dias at UFC on FX 6 in December but was given Meza as a late replacement when Dias. The quick win in that fight had him back in a hurry and expecting to fight Manny Gamburyan at UFC 157 this past month. But Gamburyan suffered and injury and instead of throwing Mendes another late replacement, he was bumped to UFC on FOX 7 vs. Guida. Now, with Guida out, he'll have about a month to prepare for Elkins.

The latest UFC on FOX 7 card now includes:

Injury forces Dan Hardy off UFC on FOX 7; Jordan Mein now meets Matt Brown

Dan Hardy's callout of Matt Brown will have to wait for another day.

An injury has forced Hardy (25-10 MMA, 6-4 UFC) out of a welterweight fight with Brown (16-11 MMA, 6-5 UFC) at UFC on FOX 7 next month. Stepping up to fill the void will be Jordan Mein (27-8 MMA, 1-0 UFC), fresh off his UFC debut win over Dan Miller.

UFC officials announced the changes overnight.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card will be broadcast on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Headlining the event is a lightweight title fight between champion Benson Henderson and final Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez, plus a heavyweight fight between former champ Frank Mir and Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champ Daniel Cormier.

The 23-year-old Mein looked impressive in his UFC debut less than a week ago at UFC 158 in Montreal, stopping Miller with a first-round TKO for his third straight victory. The Canadian went 2-1 in Strikeforce, then earned a quick knockout win over Forrest Petz for Score Fighting Series while waiting for another Strikeforce fight that didn't happen before that promotion merged with the UFC.

Hardy was going after his third straight win. In September, the Brit made it two in a row with a unanimous decision win over Amir Sadollah in front of his hometown crowd in Nottingham, England, at UFC on FUEL TV 5. In May, Hardy snapped a four-fight skid with a "Knockout of the Night" win over Duane Ludwig at UFC 146.

Hardy had called out Brown during a Q&A session with fans in Australia this past December, and the next month the fight was made. The UFC offered no details on his injury or a time table for his return.

T.J. Dillashaw replaces Francisco Rivera, meets Hugo Viana at UFC on FOX 7

It might be time to start talking about the UFC 158 and UFC on FOX 7 connections.

For the third time this week, a UFC 158 winner will step up for an injured UFC on FOX 7 fighter to fill in on a one-month turnaround time. The latest news comes as T.J. Dillashaw (7-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will get right back to work against Hugo Viana (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) with Francisco Rivera (9-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) forced off the card with an injury.

UFC officials on Friday announced Rivera's injury and the new booking. Earlier this week, UFC 158 winner Darren Elkins stepped in for Clay Guida to meet Chad Mendes, news first reported by MMAjunkie, and earlier today, fellow UFC 158 winner Jordan Mein was announced as Dan Hardy's replacement against Matt Brown.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place April 20 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Dillashaw vs. Viana will be part of the preliminary card.

UFC on FOX 7 features a lightweight title fight between champion Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez, plus the delayed heavyweight bout between former Strikeforce grand prix winner Daniel Cormier and former UFC champ Frank Mir.

Dillashaw this past Saturday in Montreal needed to get to the second round against Issei Tamura, but once there the bantamweight made quick work of his opponent with a knockout 26 seconds into the frame. That win extended the Team Alpha Male fighter's streak to three. He hasn't lost since finishing as runner-up to John Dodson on Season 14 of "The Ultimate Fighter."

Viana was a semifinalist on "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" and picked up a split-decision victory over John Teixeira. He then dropped to bantamweight and in December knocked out Reuben Duran at the TUF 16 Finale – the first stoppage win of his career after winning his first six official bouts by decision.

Rivera was hoping to extend his five-fight unbeaten streak after recent UFC wins over Alex Soto and Edwin Figueroa. A 2012 win over Roland Delorme was overturned when Rivera tested positive for an over-the-counter stimulant following UFC 149.

The latest UFC on FOX 7 card now includes:

Ik kijk graag naar zowel Melendez als Henderson, maar ik denk dat Melendez Henderson gaat pakken. Hendersons boksskills schieten te kort denk ik.
Denk dat henderson toch te snel is en afstand houdt, ben vooral benieuwd naar Mir vs Cormier, de eerste echte test voor Cormier en Mir gaat winnen

Jon Tuck vs. Norman Parke pulled from Saturday's UFC on FOX 7 lineup

A lightweight bout between "The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes" winner Norman Parke (17-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and undefeated Jon Tuck (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has been pulled from Saturday's UFC on FOX 7 lineup.

Tuck suffered an undisclosed injury, and with the short timeframe, UFC officials won't search for a replacement, sources close to the event confirmed with MMAjunkie.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Parke vs. Tuck was slated for the FX-televised portion of the card. A substitute bout from the Facebook prelims likely will be promoted.

Parke was slated to fight for the first time since December, when he defeated Colin Fletcher to win "TUF." It was his seventh consecutive victory. Tuck, meanwhile, made his UFC debut in November and defeated Tiequan Zhang, which also marked his seventh straight win.

Mir is gewoon zijn buikje kwijt, niet echt veel gespierder geworden. TRT geeft hem de mogelijkheid om meer of intensiever te trainen.
