Bjorn Rebney CEO for Bellator Fighting Championships announced the news yesterday that Alexander "Tiger" Sarnavskiy (22-1 MMA, 2-1 BFC) cannot continue Bellator Season 8 lightweight tournament semifinals because of broken a hand he got during the fight against Thiago Michel in Bellator 87. Tiger looked good in that fight and won by submission (RNC) at 3:43 of the second round.

In Bellator Lightweight Tournament season 7 he lost the fight, for the first time in his MMA career, to UFC veteran Rich Clementi by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28), R3. Now Aleksander Sarnavskiy will have to wait for the next Bellator lightweight tournament.

Sarnavskiy was supposed to fight David Rickels (12-1 MMA, 6-1) in Bellator 91 later this month. The winner of that fight would go to the tournament finals. With “Tiger” Sarnavsky out, Jason Fischer (6-1 MMA, 3-1 BFC) will take his place.

Bellator 91 takes place Feb. 28 at Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho New Mexico. Headlines of the event will be Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu defending his belt against Attila Vegh.

We hope Aleksander Sarnavskiy heals quickly and will be able to show us more knockouts and submissions in the next Bellator MMA lightweight tournament.
