UFC on FUEL TV 10 slated for June 8 with Erick Silva vs. John Hathaway

Welterweights Erick Silva (14-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and John Hathaway (17-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) will collide at UFC on FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale for the second season of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil."

The recently announced event is expected to take place June 8 at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The event's main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

UFC officials announced the bout following an initial report from Brazilian website Globo.

"TUF: Brazil 2" features coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum, who lead opposing squads in the series, which is expected to debut March 17 on Globo.

Silva, who recently was forced to pull out of a UFC 156 bout with Jay Hieron due to an injury, returns to the cage following a loss to Jon Fitch that most observers consider his first true defeat inside the octagon. Fitch outpointed the Brazilian at UFC 153 this past October, which slowed the hype Silva had built with a first-round TKO win over Charlie Brenneman four months earlier.

Following a UFC-debut win over Luis Ramos, Silva was disqualified for illegal punches in a bout against Carlo Prater at UFC 142. However, referee Mario Yamasaki later admitted to erring in his stoppage.

Hathaway, meanwhile, is on the upswing with three straight wins. At UFC Fight Night 24, he outpointed Kris McCray and followed it up with decision wins over Pascal Krauss and John Maguire at UFC on FOX 3 and UFC on FUEL TV 5, respectively.

The 25-year-old Hathaway was widely thought to be one of the welterweight division's best up-and-comers before a decision loss to Mike Pyle at UFC 120 halted his momentum.

Caio Magalhaes meets Karlos Vemola at UFC on FUEL TV 10 in Brazil

A pair of recently injured middleweights have agreed to meet in June.

Caio Magalhaes (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Karlos Vemola (9-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) will square off at UFC on FUEL TV 10, according to a report from Brazilian outlet Tatame.

UFC on FUEL TV 10 takes place June 8 at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The event's main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook. The card is expected to feature the finals of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2," as well as the fight between coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum.

Magalhaes made his UFC debut at UFC on FX 3 this past June, dropping a unanimous decision to Buddy Roberts. The Brazilian was expected to return in January at UFC on FX 7 in Brazil. He was an injury replacement for Thiago Perpetuo against Michael Kuiper. But less than a month before the fight, he had to drop off with an injury.

Magalhaes, a 25-year-old Nova Uniao student who fights out of Fortaleza, started his career 5-0 with three stoppages before the setback to Roberts.

Vemola returns for the first time since a July loss to Francis Carmont at UFC on FUEL TV 4. The rear-naked choke submission loss was the first time he had been stopped. He was expected to meet Chris Leben at UFC 155 in December, but was forced out with an injury.

Like Magalhaes, the former heavyweight and light heavyweight started his career unbeaten before getting the call from the UFC. But once there, it's been an up-and-down run for the Czech fighter, who fights out of London. At 2-3 in the promotion, he has yet to put together a win streak and will need a win over Magalhaes to avoid the first losing skid of his career.

Rafael 'Feijao' Cavalcante vs. Thiago Silva moved to June's UFC on FUEL TV 10

light heavyweight matchup Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante (11-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Thiago Silva (14-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) originally announced for UFC 162 will now take place at UFC on FUEL TV 10.

Brazilian website Tatame first reported the switch, and MMAjunkie has since confirmed the move with sources close to the fighters although a reason for the change was not immediately clear.

The change moves the scheduled matchup up just about one month, as UFC 162 is scheduled for July 6 while UFC on FUEL TV 10 takes place June 8 at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil. The event's main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook. The card is expected to feature the finals of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2."

A former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Cavalcante fights for the first time since having a May 2012 win over Mike Kyle overturned due to failing the post-event drug screen by testing positive for stanozolol. With his suspension complete, "Feijao" now meets Silva, who is also returning to work after a failed post-fight screen. Silva tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his November win over Stanislav Nedkov, and his win was also overturned.

With the change, the UFC on FUEL TV 10 lineup now includes:

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Fabricio Werdum
Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante vs. Thiago Silva*
John Hathaway vs. Erick Silva
Caio Magalhaes vs. Karlos Vemola*

Rony Jason vs. Mike Wilkinson added to UFC on FUEL TV 10

A featherweight matchup between "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" winner Rony Jason (12-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and "The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes" cast member Mike Wilkinson (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is reportedly in the works for UFC on FUEL TV 10.

SporTV first brought word of the matchup, though UFC officials haven't made a formal announcement.

UFC on FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2," takes place June 8, likely at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

Jason brings a seven-fight win streak to the cage – a run that includes a UFC win over Godofredo Castro in the final bout of "TUF: Brazil," as well as a TKO finish of "The Ultimate Fighter 15" cast member Sam Sicilia at this past October's UFC 153 event. Jason, who turns 29 years old later this month, has competed exclusively in his home country thus far in his MMA career.

Meanwhile, Wilkinson fights for the second time under the UFC banner. An Englishman, Wilkinson was cast on "TUF: The Smashes" but was forced out of the contest with an injury before ever fighting on the show. The UFC still gave him a fight at this past December's live finale, and Wilkinson rewarded them with a decision win over Brendan Loughnane.

With the reported addition, the UFC on FUEL TV 10 lineup now includes:
• Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Fabricio Werdum
• Rafael Cavalcante vs. Thiago Silva
• John Hathaway vs. Erick Silva
• Rony Jason vs. Mike Wilkinson*
• Caio Magalhaes vs. Karlos Vemola*
• Derek Brunson vs. Ronny Markes*

Daniel Sarafian vs. Eddie Mendes targeted for UFC on FUEL TV 10

A middleweight bout between "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" finalist Daniel Sarafian (7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and promotional newcomer Eddie Mendez (7-0-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) is in the works for UFC on FUEL TV 10.

Tatame first brought word of the matchup, though UFC officials haven't made a formal announcement.

UFC on FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale for "TUF: Brazil 2," takes place June 8, likely at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

It's not clear where Sarafian vs. Mendes will be placed on the lineup.

Sarafian fought his way to the tourney final of "TUF: Brazil" this past year, but he was pulled from the fight with eventual show winner Cezar Ferreira due to an injury. Instead, he made his official UFC debut at UFC on FX 7, where the Brazilian suffered a split-decision defeat to C.B. Dollaway. It snapped the submission specialist's four-fight win streak.

He now takes on Mendes, a California-based fighter and onetime Strikeforce competitor who makes his UFC debut. Mendez turned pro in 2008 and has racked up a 7-0-1 record (with one no-contest). While most of his fights have come with regional promotions, he made an appearance with Strikeforce in late 2011, when he edged former WEC fighter Fernando Gonzalez (17-9 at the time) via split decision with a late rally.

Mendes initially was slated to debut against Nick Penner at UFC on FX 6 but was forced off the card with an injury.

With the addition, the UFC on FUEL TV 10 lineup now includes:

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Fabricio Werdum
Rafael Cavalcante vs. Thiago Silva
John Hathaway vs. Erick Silva
Rony Jason vs. Mike Wilkinson*
Caio Magalhaes vs. Karlos Vemola*
Derek Brunson vs. Ronny Markes*
Ildemar Alcantara vs. Jason High*
Eddie Mendes vs. Daniel Sarafian*

Anthony Smith vs. Antonio Braga Neto slated for UFC on FUEL TV 10

A middleweight bout between Anthony Smith (17-9 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and fellow promotional newcomer Antonio Braga Neto (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is in the works for UFC on FUEL TV 10.

MMAjunkie today confirmed the planned bout with a source close to the event. Graciemag initially tweeted news of the likely matchup.

UFC on FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale for "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2," takes place June 8, likely at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

Smith vs. Neto likely will be part of the prelims.

Smith heads to the UFC after a two-fight stint with Strikeforce, where he submitted Lumumba Sayers in his promotional debut before Roger Gracie choked him out in his second bout. Before the January loss to Gracie, the heavy-handed Smith had won nine of 10 fights, which included seven knockouts and three submissions. In fact, "Lionheart" has earned stoppages in all 17 of his pro wins.

The highly touted Neto, meanwhile, fights in his home country of Brazil, where the bulk of his career has taken place. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and world champion grappler, who previously competed at heavyweight and light heavyweight, currently is riding an impressive three-fight win streak that includes submission wins over Douglas Cristian and former UFC fighters Maiquel Falcao and Brock Larson.

With the addition, the UFC on FUEL TV 10 lineup now includes:

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Fabricio Werdum
TBA vs. TBA - "TUF: Brazil 2" tournament final
Rafael Cavalcante vs. Thiago Silva
John Hathaway vs. Erick Silva

Jason High replaces John Hathaway, meets Erick Silva at UFC on FUEL TV 10

Jason High (16-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has replaced John Hathaway (17-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) and now meets fellow welterweight Erick Silva (14-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC on FUEL TV 10.

High, who initially was slated to fight Ildemar Alcantara (18-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) on the card, today announced the change via Twitter. UFC officials haven't made a formal announcement.

UFC on FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2," takes place June 8 at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazi.

High vs. Silva is slated for the FUEL TV-televised main card. That's a promotion for High, who initially was slated to fight Alcantara on the Facebook-streamed prelims.

A reason wasn't given for Hathaway's removal.

Alcantara, who recently defeated Wagner Prado in his UFC debut, now will fight UFC newcomer and undefeated submission specialist Leandro "Buscape" Silva (11-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), according to Tatame.

Silva, who recently was forced to pull out of a UFC 156 bout with Jay Hieron due to an injury, returns to the cage following a loss to Jon Fitch that most observers consider his first true defeat inside the octagon. Fitch outpointed the Brazilian at UFC 153 this past October. Prior to that, Silva went 2-1 with the UFC with a questionable disqualification loss to Carlo Prater.

High returns to the UFC for the first time since a 0-1 stint in 2010 that included a decision loss to Charlie Brennaman. Since then, the California-based fighter has posted seven consecutive victories. He topped Jordan Mein at a regional show in Canada, edged Hayato Sakurai via split decision in DREAM, and also picked up recent Strikeforce wins over Quinn Mulhern, Todd Moore and Nate Moore.
