Invicta FC 6: Marloes Coenen vs. Cristiane 'Cyborg' title rematch

The recently announced championship bout between Marloes Coenen (21-5) and Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (11-1) will headline Invicta FC 6.

MMAjunkie.com recently passed along news of the matchup, which awards the winner Invicta's first-ever featherweight title, on Saturday, and Invicta officials recently confirmed it'll headline the event.

Invicta FC 6 is targeted for a late-June or early-July date. A host city and venue, as well as broadcast/streaming plans, haven't been finalized.

The two fighters first met in January 2010, when Santos defended her Strikeforce featherweight title with a third-round TKO victory over Coenen (21-5), whom she slowly wore down throughout the fight.

At Invicta FC 5 this past weekend, Santos successfully returned from a 16-month drug suspension and layoff, and she dominated late replacement Fiona Muxlow for a first-round knockout. It marked Santos' ninth knockout in 11 career wins.

After her loss to Santos, Coenen went on to win Strikeforce's bantamweight title in her next bout by submitting Sarah Kaufman. That victory is part of the Dutch vet's current 4-1 run, which also included an Invicta FC 1 decision win over Romy Ruyssen and a December submission victory over Muxlow at DREAM.18.

The Santos-Coenen winner will join Michelle Waterson (newly crowned atomweight champion), Carla Esparza (strawweight champ) and Barb Honchak (new flyweight titleholder) as Invicta FC champions.

Leslie Smith signs multi-fight agreement with Invicta, faces Jennifer Maia in July

Leslie Smith, a two-time 'Fight of the Night' winner at Invicta FC, has signed a multi-fight agreement with the organization and has agreed to face Jennifer Maia on July 13th at Invicta FC 6. Sources close to the situation confirm the news and further indicate Smith will drop from bantamweight to flyweight.

Invicta FC 6 takes place on July 13th at the Ameristar Casino Kanasis City in Kansas City, Missouri. The event will be headlined by a clash between Marloes Coenen and challenger Cristiane Santos to crown the organization's first-ever featherweight champion. Their bout is a rematch of their 2010 fight under the Strikeforce banner where Santos won via third-round TKO.

The winner of the bout between Smith and Maia will face current Invicta flyweight champion Barb Honchak for the title, sources confirm. Honchak won the title at Invicta FC 5 where she defeated Vanessa Porto via unanimous decision.

Smith, 30, is 2-1-1 in her run through Invicta shows. She's fought Kaitlin Young twice, first to a draw at the inaugural Invicta event where they both earned Fight of the Night honors. In their rematch at Invicta FC 2, Smith defeated Young by second-round TKO. She most recently fought to a unanimous if controversial decision loss to Sarah Kaufman at Invicta FC 5 in April. That bout also earned her Fight of the Night. Smith is 5-3-1 in professional MMA.

Maia, 24, is also an Invicta veteran when she bested Zoila Frausto Gurgel at Invicta FC 5 by unanimous decision. She is 7-2 in professional MMA with losses coming to UFC veteran Sheila Gaff and Invicta contender Vanessa Porto.

Pregnancy scratches Laura Sanko; Invicta FC 6 lineup again set with 13 bouts

It wasn't an injury or illness or contract dispute that scratched Laura Sanko from Invicta FC 6. Instead, a pregnancy has forced the mother-to-be from the July card.

Sanko and Invicta officials recently announced the news.

In her place steps Cassie Robb (0-1), who suffered a submission loss to Sanko (1-0) at Invicta FC 4. She takes on fellow atomweight (115-pounder) Livia Von Plettenberg (1-1) in Invicta FC 6's opening bout.

Invicta FC 6 takes place July 13 at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The event streams as an online pay-per-view.

Robb, who made her pro debut following a successful amateur run, kept things competitive with Sanko before succumbing to a second-round rear-naked choke in their January bout. She looks to rebound against Von Plettenberg, an Austrian who drops a weight class following a short-notice decision loss to Joanne Calderwood at Invicta FC 4.

Calderwood vs. Schneider completes next month's 13-bout Invicta FC 6 lineup

A strawweight bout Joanne Calderwood (6-0) and Sarah Schneider (6-6) is the final addition to next month's Invicta FC 6 event.

Officials today announced the fight.

Calderwood initially was slated to fight Claudia Gadelha (9-0) at the July 13. However, when strawweight champion Carla Esparza (9-2) went down with a leg injury earlier this month, Gadelha took her spot and now meets Ayaka Hamasaki (9-0) in the co-headliner.

Invicta FC 6 takes place at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The event streams as an online pay-per-view.

Calderwood recently fought at Cage Warriors 53 and knocked out Sally Krumdiack. She's now won six fights (four via knockout) in six career fights, which included Invicta FC victories over Ashley Cummins and Livia Von Plettenberg.

Schneider, meanwhile, fights for the third time under the Invicta FC banner. The onetime Bellator fighter had posted back-to-back submission wins over Sally Krumdiack and Ivana Coleman before a TKO loss to Carla Esparza at Invicta FC 2.

Norma Rueda Center replaces Schneider, meets Joanne Calderwood at Invicta FC 6

Norma Rueda Center (2-0) has replaced injured Sarah Schneider (6-6) and now meets fellow strawweight Joanne Calderwood (6-0) at next month's Invicta FC 6 event.

Invicta FC officials recently confirmed an initial report from MMARising.com.

Invicta FC 6 takes place July 13 at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The event airs via regular pay-per-view in North America, and international viewers can watch via an online PPV stream. The event is priced at $14.95.

This is the second opponent switch for Calderwood, who initially was slated to fight Claudia Gadelha before the switch to Schneider.

Calderwood recently fought at Cage Warriors 53 and knocked out Sally Krumdiack. The Scottish fighter now has six wins (four via knockout) in six career fights, which has included Invicta FC victories over Ashley Cummins and Livia Von Plettenberg.

Center, a Team Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter based in New Mexico, is 2-0 in her pro career with a decision win over Rachael Cummins in March and a submission victory over Olga Ortega in May. She went 5-0 during her amateur career.

Allemaal leuk en aardig. Maar deze top atleten kuren zich helemaal suf en zijn nu meer man dan de meeste mannen. En met 'speciale voeding' zeg je het precies goed. Kijk naar de kaaklijnen van deze dames. Hoe veel hockeysters, wielrensters of tennis dames. Die toch ook aan topsport zien heb je met zo'n kaaklijn gezien?
