UFC 160 bonuses: dos Santos, Hunt, Grant, Teixeira earn $50,000

Junior dos Santos, Mark Hunt, T.J. Grant and Glover Teixeira each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday's UFC 160 event.

Grant earned the "Knockout of the Night" award, Teixeira picked up the "Submission of the Night" bonus, and dos Santos and Hunt earned "Fight of the Night" honors.

UFC President Dana White announced the bonuses at the night's post-fight press conference.

UFC 160 took at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

In the co-main event, former champion dos Santos continued to go after a finish against Mark Hunt, and deep into the third round he caught him with a spinning wheel kick. And one massive follow-up punch on the floor was all she wrote. White said dos Santos was going to get the "Knockout of the Night" award – but former boxing champion Mike Tyson, in attendance at the card, told him it should be Grant.

Grant stopped two-time lightweight title challenger Gray Maynard with a first-round TKO and earned a title shot against Benson Henderson.

Teixeira picked up the night's lone submission when he took James Te Huna down. And when Te Huna tried to get back to his feet, he left his neck exposed. Teixeira, a 3-to-1 favorite, locked up a guillotine choke and Te Huna was forced to tap.

Ze hadden allebei wel mogen winnen van me maar JDS was wel superieur hoor. Desalniettemin bleef Hunt gevaarlijk met die granieten chin en loeiharde peren van 'm. Hij had JDS bijna een paar keer tegen de cage goed te pakken! Top gevecht en wat een KO (weer een spinning kick...techniek van de maand ofzo?).

Cain was ook weer opper- en oppermachtig. Wat is die gast goed als ie on point is zeg.

Maar deed toch wel pijn om Hunt zo KO te zien gaan. Hij is een blijft een van mijn favoriete knokkers!!!

Die Silva lijkt elke keer weer dezelfde fout te maken tegen kortere en explosieve vechters. Bij een stotenwisseling gooit hij z'n dekking wagenwijd open en kan zijn tegenstander met een korte rechter directe contact maken. Dat hebben we nu twee keer bij Cain gezien en ook al bij Cormier.

Als Velasquez nu weer tegen JDS moet is het de afgelopen jaren JDS, Bigfoot, JDS, Bigfoot, JDS geweest. Het lijkt me ergens wel verfrissend als hij weer eens tegen een ander vecht.

Wel lullig voor Hunt dat hij zo hard in elkaar getimmerd is zeg, maar het was een mooi aktie van JDS, dat wel.

Idd wel heel kut om Hunt zo te zien, maar had ook niet heel anders verwacht. Weer een overtuigende overwinning van Cain, Big Foot leek niet heel happy.

Although White could not give a precise timeframe for when the fight will take place, when asked if it might be targeted for the promotion's year-end card, he said it almost certainly will happen prior to that.

Velasquez (12-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) stopped Antonio Silva (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/antonio-silva) (18-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) with little difficulty in the main event for the first defense of the title he took back from dos Santos this past December at UFC 155. The fight was a rematch from a year ago, when Velasquez also stopped "Bigfoot" in the first round. But this time, he did it in about half the time.

In the co-feature, dos Santos (16-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) went back and forth with Mark Hunt (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/mark-hunt) (9-8 MMA, 4-2 UFC) into the third round. But late in the fight, the Brazilian clipped the New Zealander with a spinning wheel kick that dropped him, then landed a massive punch on the ground. The bout won "Fight of the Night" honors.

Velasquez and dos Santos first met at UFC on FOX 1 in November 2011, when dos Santos stopped Velasquez in just 64 seconds. That was Velasquez's first defense of the belt after taking it from Brock Lesnar (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/brock-lesnar).

In their rematch at UFC 155, though, Velasquez dominated dos Santos for five rounds to win the belt back. And on Saturday against Silva, he defended it for the first time.

In eerste instantie wil ik mijn hulde uitbrengen aan de Zuid-Amerikaanse vechters. Die jongens blijven zich ontwikkelen, geheel op een nuchtere wijze. Maakt die verotte legend avond weer een beetje goed.

JDS vs Hunt was een leuke pot. De reach voordeel werd door JDS goed gebruikt. Daarbij was hij ook de snellere vechter met de betere conditie. Hij was ook de vechter die goed gebruik had gemaakt van zijn mobiliteit. Vele malen beweeglijker als Hunt. Jammer voor Hunt, zeker als ik die foto hierboven zie, pijnlijk om zo een geweldige vechter total-loss op de grond te zien. Ach ja, verdiende zege voor JDS, mooie afronding.

Lekker voor Antonio, had ook een grote smoel gekregen na de overwinning op Alistair. Goed voor hem, kansloos afgeslacht.

Ik denk niet alleen Cormier en Velasquez, maar ook een Big Country , JDS , Mark hunt , slaan Silva gauw zat KO naar mijn mening.

Alistair heeft de snelheid niet om snel in te stappen en een poeier te verkopen, ook zijn combinaties zijn te traag, dat hebben we zijn laatste partij wel gezien tegen Bigfoot.

Brock en Cees zijn dan wel extreem groot en veel spieren, maar een Type Velasquez is Simpelweg veel te snel voor deze 2 Hulks.
