UFC targeting Nov. 15 event in Brazil, likely UFC on FOX Sports 1 4
The UFC is planning a Nov. 15 event in Brazil that likely will serve as UFC on FOX Sports 1 4. Additionally, it'll take place the night before UFC 167 in Las Vegas.
Brazilian MMA reporter Guilherme Cruz first tweeted news of the event, which takes place on Brazil's Republic Day national holiday. Sources close to the event confirmed with MMAjunkie that it's in the works.
A venue and host city have not been confirmed for the event. The main card would air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook.
The following day, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre meets top contender Johny Hendricks in the pay-per-view headliner of UFC 167 in Las Vegas. UFC 167 will serve as the official 20th anniversary show for the UFC, which held its first event on Nov. 12, 1993.
No fights currently are rumored for UFC on FOX Sports 1 4, though an official event announcement could come as soon as this week.
It'd be the UFC's sixth Brazilian event in 2013.
The UFC has hosted shows on back-to-back nights twice previously. UFC on FX 4 and UFC 147 took place on consecutive nights in June 2012, and UFC on FX 6 and The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale took place on back-to-back days this past December.
