He thought he'd feel excitement, exhilaration, even relief, but in the minutes after winning the UFC middleweight championship, Chris Weidman admitted that he was already feeling anxiety about defending the crown.

Now, he can look forward to getting back to work.

On Saturday, UFC president Dana White announced on SportsCenter that the rematch between Weidman and Anderson Silva has been signed for Dec. 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight will be the main event of a blockbuster show that will also feature a women's championship fight between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.

White said he finished the deal about one hour before announcing it.

"I'll tell you this: I think this will be the biggest pay-per-view we've ever done," White told MMA Fighting moments after making the announcement.

Weidman knocked out Silva at 1:18 of the second round on a left hook followed by ground strikes. In doing so, the unbeaten 29-year-old became the first man to defeat Silva since 2006.

White said Silva was hungry to get his belt back, and ESPN played a short clip with "the Spider," who said the same.

"My fans in the UFC and my fans in the world and the United States, Dec. 28 I go back to fight, Weidman and Anderson Silva. I'm back. Trust me, I'm back."

UFC President Dana White promised the world that new UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/chris-weidman) (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and former kingpin Anderson Silva (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/anderson-silva) (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) would meet again. Now it's official.

The UFC boss today revealed on ESPN's SportsCenter that both Weidman and Silva have agreed to meet on Dec. 28 in the headlining bout of a previously announced UFC 168 event, which takes place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. The night's main card, including the Weidman vs. Silva rematch, airs on pay-per-view. White further confirmed that bout agreements have already been signed.

White previously announced UFC 168 would see women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/ronda-rousey) (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) face former Strikeforce title holder Miesha Tate (http://www.mmajunkie.com/fighters/miesha-tate) (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in the evening's main event. However, that fight between former Strikeforce champs and opposing "The Ultimate Fighter 18" coaches will instead serve as the co-main event of what starts out as a star-studded affair.

"I don't know if there's any more hype ever in UFC history after a fight," White said. "Everybody has been wondering if there's going to be a rematch. I've been working on it since Thursday. December 28 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand, Anderson Silva will fight Chris Weidman, and the co-main event will be Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate."

The announcement comes one week after this past Saturday night's historic UFC 162 event in Las Vegas, where a confident Weidman upset the former champion. Weidman, of course, expressed his desire to face Silva a second time even before they stepped into the cage at UFC 162, knowing it would take a pair of victories over the pound-for-pound great. Meanwhile, the former champ at first suggested that he wasn't immediately interested in a rematch, but White insisted that the Brazilian would reconsider his position and seek redemption against the undefeated Weidman.

He has.

If Muhammad Ali came up saying I wasn’t humble, then I’d think if I was humble or not. There was no lack of respect. I respect everybody. All the provocation, hands down… It should continue, it’s part of the show”
“Nobody likes to lose,” Silva said. “I train four months to win. But you end [up] learning with your mistakes, and I learned the worst way possible. After everything that happened, we calm down and I realized I had something to question, even question Anderson Silva. I lost to myself, and that’s the worst loss. Losing by knockout shakes you, [it] will be in history, but will leave a lesson.”
“Everybody has to retire, but it’s not my time yet,” Silva said. “I’ll get a rematch. Chris gave me this opportunity and we’re fighting again. That’s another chance to overcome, reinvent myself as a person and athlete.”
In a recent interview with the Brazilian Media (http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/7/15/4525066/anderson-silva-plots-revenge-defies-clowning-critics-it-should), Anderson Silva discussed his often criticized antics inside the cage and confirmed that he isn’t changing his fighting style anytime soon.
Is that the smartest path to take in his December rematch with Chris Weidman?

The Ronda Rousey (http://www.MixedMartialArts.com/f/985A093AE973B42C/Ronda-Rousey/) vs. Miesha Tate rematch was scheduled to be the main event of UFC 168 (http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=news.search&phrase=UFC%20168), that was until UFC President Dana White announced that the biggest rematch in UFC history would also take place on the card. With Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman in the main event slot, Rousey vs. Tate will now co-main event, a place Rousey is more than happy to be in:

"I'm super stoked about being on the same card as Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman," Rousey told USA TODAY Sports. "It'll alleviate some of the promotional stress and pressure because there'll be more of us working to promote this big card."

"Their fight may very well be the fight of the year, maybe even in the history of the company, and I think it's an honor to be a part of that," Rousey said.

When Anderson Silva lost his title to Chris Weidman at UFC 162 earlier this month, he initally said he didn't want a rematch. UFC president Dana White said with confidence there would would be one, and a week later the rematch was scheduled for the massive New Years show, UFC 168, or Dec. 28.
In an interview with the Brazilian radio show "Mundo da Luta" Silva explained the change of heart.
"I was so sad with myself, with my lack of control on the moment, that I said some words that weren't nice," said Silva. "I said that I wouldn't fight for the title. But after I signed the contract (earlier in the year), Dana told me that he would give [me a rematch if I had lost the belt]. I was so out of myself that I didn't think about it."
"I lost my focus and made a technical mistake. It was one of the things that I left – the philosophy of the martial art –and it cost me the belt. I always fought with this felling of keeping the martial art philosophy and keeping the control of the situation – trying to be as calm as possible for me to keep the balance of the octagon, which is very hard to do."
Silva's fans and detractors alike generally had harsh words after the loss, attributing it to showboating that went too far. Silva said he understands.
"The criticism is valid, but I'm human," he said. "I made a technical mistake, and it was good for me and for the people around me to learn. I had to be able to know that focus is always needed. I lost focus, and now I will get better."

“The Spider” Heading to Thailand to Sharpen Striking Skills http://www.bjpenn.com.3sj1.spdl.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/390x270xAnderson-Silva-2.jpg.speedilic.ic.NTKT-DrxCY.jpg (http://www.bjpenn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Anderson-Silva-2.jpg)

| Following his loss to “The All American” Chris Weidman (http://www.bjpenn.com/1ufc-162-results-silva-vs-weidman/), Anderson Silva knows that he made some mistakes in that fight and he is not going to let the same thing happen again come December 28th when the two rematch for the UFC middleweight title (http://www.bjpenn.com/anderson-silva-vs-chris-weidman-rematch-confirmed-for-ufc-168-rousey-vs-tate-is-co-main-event/).
Silva, for the first time in his UFC career, will be coming off of a defeat. We’ve never seen “The Spider” come into a fight inside the octagon following a lose and it seems that Anderson is taking the rematch very seriously as we have gained word that the former champion is packing his bags and heading to Thailand to work on his Muay-Thai and striking skills to better prepare for Weidman.
Silva has always been a master of Muay-Thai inside the cage and it looks like he is going back to his roots in an effort to get back what he lost to Weidman on July 6th; The UFC Middleweight Title. In a report by Brazilian sports outlet Esportes (http://www.estadao.com.br/noticias/esportes,entrevista--eu-cai-mas-cai-para-cima-diz-anderson-silva,1058316,0.htm) Silva explained that he is not blaming his corner or camp for the loss to Weidman at UFC 162 (http://www.bjpenn.com/1ufc-162-results-silva-vs-weidman/) but is rather taking the blame himself and is now looking to correct those mistakes by heading to Thailand to train with some of the best strikers in the world. Here is what Silva had to say in the report:
“I did not have to put the blame on my team. Who made the mistake was me. I’ve made a technical error, I cannot put the blame on my team. Now is reviewing what I did wrong technically, that is something we are already doing, and think forward. We have a nice workout calendar, soon going to Thailand to spend time there and then back to finish our training in Rio.”
“I will train and be focused to do my job well done.”
Silva will have a chance to regain the strap that he held for so long on December 28th in Las Vegas at UFC 168 (http://www.bjpenn.com/anderson-silva-vs-chris-weidman-rematch-confirmed-for-ufc-168-rousey-vs-tate-is-co-main-event/) as he faces off with the man that dethroned him just a couple weeks ago; newly-crowned Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman.
Silva’s passion for fighting seems to have returned (http://www.bjpenn.com/video-anderson-silva-confirms-to-fans-hes-back/) as the former champion is heading overseas to sharpen his skills before he tries to regain his title in December. What do the fans here at BJPenn.com think? Is Silva’s training in Thailand going to help him in the rematch against Weidman or is the same fate awaiting “The Spider” on December 28th, regardless of what adjustments he make? Let’s here what you think, Penn Nation! Sound off!

A heavyweight bout between contenders Travis Browne and Josh Barnett has been added to UFC 168 at the MGM Grand on Dec. 28, sources close to the organization confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Browne has recorded two consecutive first-round knockout victories since his only career loss to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, including a dramatic stoppage of Alistair Overeem in August. Barnett, who was stripped of the UFC heavyweight title and left the organization after a positive steriod test in 2002, finally returned after 11 years in August with a first-round knockout of Frank Mir.

The card, expected to be one of the biggest in the organization’s history, also includes the rematches between Anderson Silva and middleweight champion Chris Weidman as well as women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.

Brandao-Poirier, Leben-Hall added to UFC 168 in Las Vegas

The UFC has two more bouts to its year-end card – one that could wind up being an important featherweight battle, and one that could be a middleweight slugfest.

Diego Brandao (18-8 MMA, 4-1 UFC), the Season 14 winner of "The Ultimate Fighter," will meet Dustin Poirier (14-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) at featherweight, while Chris Leben (22-10 MMA, 12-9 UFC) will take on Uriah Hall (7-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) at UFC 168. UFC officials announced the new fight bookings Thursday morning.

UFC 168 takes place Dec. 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and serves as the UFC's annual year-end card. The main card, featuring a middleweight title rematch between champion Chris Weidman and former pound-for-pound kingpin Anderson Silva, plus a women's bantamweight title rematch between champ Ronda Rousey and arch rival Miesha Tate, airs on pay-per-view. Prelims air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook.

Brandao has won three straight fights since the lone loss of his UFC career. He won Season 14 of "TUF," winning a double bonus for "Submission of the Night" and "Fight of the Night" for his armbar stoppage of Dennis Bermudez with just nine seconds left in the first round at the TUF 14 Finale in December 2011. But in his next fight out, he was grinded down and stifled by Darren Elkins at UFC 146.

The Brazilian, who trains at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., rebounded after the Elkins loss, though. He beat Joey Gambino by unanimous decision at UFC 153 11 months ago, then submitted Pablo Garza in the first round of UFC on FUEL TV 10 in April. A month ago, he outpointed Daniel Pineda at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston for his third in a row.

Poirier, meanwhile, got back on track in a big way when he beat hometown favorite Erik Koch by unanimous decision at UFC 164 less than three weeks ago in Milwaukee. That got "The Diamond," who recently began training at American Top Team in South Florida, back in the win column after a decision loss to Cub Swanson in February.

After going 1-1 in the WEC, Poirier took a fight with Josh Grispi at UFC 125 when featherweight champ Jose Aldo couldn't fight due to injury. He beat Grispi by unanimous decision, knocking "The Fluke" from the ranks of featherweight title hopefuls. Then he became one himself when he rattled off three more UFC wins, including a "Submission of the Night" against Max Holloway. But against Chan Sung Jung in a title eliminator, he was submitted by his own favorite move, a D'Arce choke, in the fourth round and had to start building his way back to contender status.

Leben, a member of the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter," is likely at a career crossroads and staring down what could be a must-win fight. Leben has lost three straight and four of his past five. The skid started with a first-round TKO loss to Brian Stann at UFC 125. But "The Crippler" rebounded with a 27-second knockout of Wanderlei Silva at UFC 132.

Since then, though, it's been a rough stretch for Leben. He was stopped by Mark Munoz in the main event of UFC 138, then failed his post-fight drug test and was suspended by the UFC. He returned at UFC 155 this past December, but dropped a decision to Derek Brunson. Then at UFC 162 in July, he lost a split call to Andrew Craig.

Hall, too, is in must-win territory. The heavy favorite on Season 17 of "The Ultimate Fighter" because of his dominating wins in the house – which sent two fighters to the hospital – has been a disappointment since the reality show ended. He was upset by Kelvin Gastelum in the middleweight finals in April by split decision. Then he lost a split call to John Howard at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston, a fight that had UFC boss Dana White saying he lacked a fighter's heart.

With the additions, the latest UFC 168 card now includes:

Champ Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - for middleweight title
Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate - for women's bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Uriah Hall vs. Chris Leben
Michael Johnson vs. Gleison Tibau

Anderson Silva plans to ‘give back the knockout’ at UFC 168
By Guilherme Cruz  @guicruzzz on Sep 23 2013, 5:17p 27

Chris Weidman became the first man to stop Anderson Silva inside the Octagon, and the Brazilian plans to avenge the loss the same way.

Silva’s run as the middleweight champion lasted 2,458 days and ended at UFC 162, and he told Ariel Helwani during Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour that he will regain the title with a knockout.

"I (will) give back the knockout," Silva told Helwani when asked how he believes he will defeat Weidman on Dec. 28. "I’m working hard now. Chris is the new champion and is a great fighter, but I'm training hard. The new Anderson is coming."

The Brazilian plans to end the fight with a knockout, but he doesn’t expect Weidman to stand in front of him at UFC 168.

"I (will) train more jiu-jitsu because Weidman come to fight me and (won’t) stand up together in this fight," he said. "Go for the ground, go for the ground. I train more jiu-jitsu, and ninjitsu."

Silva admitted that his life has changed a lot since losing the title, and most of the people, including fans, has treated him differently since. But he doesn’t seem to care.

"It's normal," he said. "It's the game. But my family is normal. This is more important for me. My sons, my wife, my brothers and dad. Other people, whatever."

He doesn’t feel he needs a devastating win to prove he’s the best middleweight in the planet, though.

"Come on, bro, definitely no," Silva said. "I'm working hard for a long time. My big goal is train the kids, new athletes coming. I’m normal guy. Sometimes I have good day, sometimes I don't have good day. People will have the new chance to see the real Anderson. It’s normal."

After his first loss in the UFC, Silva said Steven Seagal shouldn’t get all the credit for his devastating front kick knockout over Vitor Belfort, and he explains why.

"I have a good relationship with master Seagal," he said. "He is a great man, great master, but I worked hard the front kick for a long time. I started martial arts and my first master showed me the movement. I've trained Capoeira, Taekwondo, but one day master Steven Seagal came to the academy, watched the training, watched my front kick and said ‘you move (to) the left’ and that's it. (He doesn’t) showed the kick and bla, bla, bla. He's not my coach, he's my friend."

Dennis Siver vs. Manny Gamburyan added to UFC 168

Veteran fighters and former lightweights Dennis Siver (21-9 MMA, 10-6 UFC) and Manny Gamburyan (13-7 MMA, 4-5 UFC) are set to collide at UFC 168.

UFC official today announced the matchup for the Dec. 28 event, which takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It's not yet known whether the bout will serve on the pay-per-view main card or prelims, which air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook.

Siver and Gamburyan both have reinvented themselves in the featherweight division, though their recent careers have diverged on paper.

In a widely panned call, Gamburyan outpointed Cole Miller at this past month's UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston. Miller is appealing the official decision based on his belief that the referee did not incorrectly call a TKO in favor of him when he landed a series of elbows that rendered Gamburyan unable to continue.

There was no doubt about the outcome of Siver's most recent appearance, which came in July at UFC 162 and ended when the surging Cub Swanson stopped him by third-round TKO. The setback was his first since dropping to 145 pounds, though he was awarded a "Fight of the Night" bonus for the bout.

Gamburyan has more experience under his belt as a featherweight, and as of late, enjoys a two-fight win streak following a three-fight skid, kicked off by a second-round TKO to now-UFC champ Jose Aldo under the defunct WEC banner, that threatened his employment with UFC parent Zuffa.

With the addition to the card, the UFC 168 lineup now includes:

Champ Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - for UFC middleweight title
Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate - for women's bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Uriah Hall vs. Chris Leben
Michael Johnson vs. Gleison Tibau
Manny Gamburyan vs. Dennis Siver

Jim Miller vs. Fabricio Camoes joins year-end UFC 168 event

A lightweight bout between Jim Miller (22-4 MMA, 11-3 UFC) and Fabricio Camoes (14-7-1 MMA, 1-2-1 UFC) is the latest addition to the year-end UFC 168 event in Sin City.

UFC officials today announced the bout.

UFC 168 takes place Dec. 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It's not known if the bout will serve on the pay-per-view main card or on the prelims, which air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook.

Although Camoes is out of the top 15, Miller is ranked No. 11 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA lightweight rankings.

Miller looks to get back to top-contender status. In early 2011, the New Jersey-based wrestler and jiu-jitsu black belt was riding a seven-fight UFC winning streak. But he then suffered a loss to Benson Henderson and is 2-2 (with one no-contest) in his past five fights. He would be 2-3 if a UFC 159 submission loss wasn't overturned because opponent Pat Healy failed a drug test due to marijuana.

Camoes, meanwhile, was on a three-fight winning streak (and an overall 10-1-1 run) before a decision loss to Melvin Guillard at UFC 148. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, who's currently in his second UFC stint, has been on the sidelines since that July 2012 fight.

The latest UFC 168 card now includes:

Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - for UFC middleweight title
Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate - for women's bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Fabricio Camoes vs. Jim Miller
Uriah Hall vs. Chris Leben

Bobby Voelker vs. William 'Patolino' Macario added to UFC 168 in Vegas

The UFC's year-end fight card continues to fill up following the addition of a welterweight bout between Bobby Voelker (24-10 MMA, 0-2 UFC) and William Macario (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the bout.

UFC 168 takes place Dec. 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.

Voelker vs. "Patolino" likely will be part of the prelims.

Voelker, though entertaining, is likely in a must-win situation. After a productive 4-1 stint in Strikeforce, the 34-year-old Kansan was moved to the UFC. However, he's since suffered a decision loss to Patrick Cote and a recent knockout loss (via head kick) to vet Robbie Lawler. He now needs to avoid a third consecutive defeat.

Macario, meanwhile, looks for his first official UFC win after a runner-up finish on "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2," where he suffered a submission loss to Leonardo Santos in the tourney final earlier this year. Prior to his time on the show, the 22-year-old Brazilian went 6-0 with six stoppages (five knockouts) while fighting throughout his home country.

The latest UFC 168 card now includes:

Champ Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - for UFC middleweight title
Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate - for women's bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Fabricio Camoes vs. Jim Miller

Siyar Bahadurzada vs. John Howard added to December's UFC 168 event

A welterweight matchup between Afghani slugger Siyar Bahadurzada (21-5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and John Howard (21-8 MMA, 5-3 UFC) is the latest addition to December's UFC 168 event.

UFC officials today announced the new booking for the quickly-filling fight card.

Featuring a headliner between UFC middleweight champ Chris Weidman and former title holder Anderson Silva, UFC 168 takes place Dec. 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The night's main card airs pay-per-view. The Bahadurzada vs. Howard bout is expected to take place on the prelims, which air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook.

Bahadurzada fights for the first time since a march loss to Dong Hyun Kim. He was expected to face Robbie Lawler at July's UFC on FOX 8 event but an injury forced Bahadurzada to withdraw from the fight. He'll now look for the form that saw him win seven straight fights before the loss to Kim.

Meanwhile, Howard looks to build on the strength of a split-decision win over "The Ultimate Fighter 17" finalist Uriah Hall at August's UFC Fight Night 26. The result saw Howard move to 7-1 in his past eight fights, a run that earned him a return trip to the octagon after being released from the promotion in 2011.

With the addition to the card, UFC 168 now features:

Champ Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - for UFC middleweight title
Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate - for women's bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Fabricio Camoes vs. Jim Miller
Uriah Hall vs. Chris Leben
Michael Johnson vs. Gleison Tibau
Manny Gamburyan vs. Dennis Siver
William Macario vs. Bobby Voelker
Shane Del Rosario vs. Guto Inocente
Siyar Bahadurzada vs. John Howard

Estevan Payan vs. Robert Peralta booked for December's UFC 168 card in Las Vegas

The UFC's year-end show in Las Vegas now has a dozen matchups with the addition of a featherweight fight.

Estevan Payan (14-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will meet Robert Peralta (16-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) this December in Las Vegas. UFC officials announced the new fight booking on Monday.

Featuring a headliner between UFC middleweight champ Chris Weidman and former title holder Anderson Silva, UFC 168 takes place Dec. 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The night's main card airs pay-per-view. The Payan-Peralta bout is expected to take place on the prelims, which air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook.

Payan made his UFC debut in May after a two-fight run in Strikeforce, but he dropped a unanimous decision to Jeremy Stephens at UFC 160. The setback snapped a stretch of eight fights without a loss for the Arizona-based fighter. Apart from his two wins in Strikeforce – a TKO of MIke Bravo at the promotion's finale in January and a decision win over Alonzo Martinez a year prior – Payan has a pair of Bellator fights on his resume.

Peralta will return to action following a six-month suspension after testing positive for marijuana following his decision loss to Akira Corassani in Sweden in April. Proir to that, Peralta had gone 10 fights without a loss, with just a no-contest from an accidental headbutt against Mackens Semerzier standing between him and perfection since late 2009. His two UFC wins came with a decision victory over Mike Lullo and a 23-second knockout of Jason Young in England in September 2012.

With the addition to the card, UFC 168 now features:

Champ Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva - for UFC middleweight title
Champ Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate - for women's bantamweight title
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
Fabricio Camoes vs. Jim Miller

"Every dog has his day."

Josh Barnett to undergo UFC-sponsored random WADA testing ahead of UFC 168

Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett will become the first mixed martial artist in Nevada to undergo WADA-certified random drug testing, and the UFC will foot the bill.

Barnett (33-6 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was today ordered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to submit himself to random testing up until his UFC 168 bout with Travis Browne (15-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) – as well as to commission-administered random drug testing throughout the entirety of 2014 – as a condition of his latest license to fight in the state.

"UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva II" takes place Dec. 28 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena.

At today's NSAC hearing, officials also approved a license for 35-year-old Josh Koscheck and 36-year-old Chael Sonnen. Although no issues were anticipated with either fighter, the state gives more scrutiny to athletes who are 35 or older. However, Barnett's history with the commission left him subject to additional review.

Koscheck and Sonnen, who both compete at UFC 167 on Nov. 16 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena, both phoned in to the meeting and were approved rather quickly. Meanwhile, Barnett and his attorneys appeared in person as the 16-year veteran addressed in detail his previous failed post-fight drug tests in Nevada in 2001 and 2002, as well as a 2009 pre-fight test in California.

According to a motion originally suggested by commissioner T.J. Lundvall and officially introduced by Skip Avansino, Barnett will be "subjected to enhanced, intensive, weekly testing by the WADA lab at the expense of Mr. Barnett or UFC and that he also be subjected to random testing by the Nevada State Athletic Commission through Dec. 31, 2014 to be paid by him or the UFC." The motion was unanimously approved, and the random testing will be applied whether or not Barnett fights in Nevada in 2014.

Barnett maintained that the failed 2001 and 2002 tests were due to the use of supplements that were later reclassified as anabolic steroids while contending the 2009 test was likely due to contaminated supplements. "The Warmaster" said he now largely avoids supplements due to the past issues and does not ever intend to petition the commission for a therapeutic-use exemption for testosterone replacement therapy, despite his age.

He also maintained there would be no further excuses moving forward.

"I understand the prohibited list, and that's what's necessary," Barnett said. "I have to put it in my mouth, in my body. … No one's giving me anything under the table and putting things in my system. This is my responsibility."

UFC executive Marc Ratner also attended the meeting and confirmed the promotion would be willing to foot the bill for all additional testing.

Barnett was already tested by the commission on Oct. 15 and submitted a clean sample.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as in independent agency dedicated to towards "a vision of a world where all athletes compete in a doping-free sporting environment." WADA has established a World Anti-Doping Code that includes international standards widely viewed as the most comprehensive in sport and include an athlete providing his whereabouts at all times so that doping tests can be conducted without prior notice..

There are currently two WADA-accredited labs in the U.S., one located in Los Angeles and another in Salt Lake City.

Will Anderson Silva claim his UFC title back? Does Chris Weidman has what it takes to shock the world once again?

Silva and Weidman will meet again at UFC 168 for the middleweight championship on Dec. 28, and MMAFighting.com asked 15 UFC fighters to break down one of the most anticipated rematch in the history.

Check out the pros picks for the UFC 168 main event, and post yours in the comments section below:

Renan Barao: I was shocked with what happened in the first fight, but we’re all humans and anything can happen in a fight. I didn’t believe it when I saw. But Anderson Silva will take the title back. Unfortunately that happened in the first fight, but that’s his fighting style. (Weidman) was lucky to connect that hand, but the next result will be completely different.

Fabricio Werdum: I see Anderson more focused, not playing around, and winning by knockout. He’ll beat Weidman standing, Weidman will go down and Anderson will punish him until the referee stops the fight. Focused, not playing around… But it’s a fight and anything can happen. Maybe there’s another surprise coming, but I don’t see this happening.

Wanderlei Silva: Anderson will win this fight. He won’t drop his hands to make it easier. If he goes there and uses his muay thai, it’s going to be an interesting fight. It’s the first time in a long time that he’s the challenger, so we have to wait and see how he’ll react to that. I hope he trained seriously because his title is not his responsibility, he’s carrying his whole country on his shoulder. He needs to take this fight seriously and bring the title back to Brazil. If he doesn’t want it anymore, win the fight, leave the belt on the ground and say "I’m done". If he wants to, fight to win.

Tarec Saffiedine: One of my friends trained with Anderson Silva a couple times and he said he looks like a monster right now, mentally and physically. I think Anderson is going to claim his belt back. Weidman didn’t respect his hands in the first one. Anderson is going to play that game a little bit, but he’s going to be more cautious this time. But betting against Weidman is tough, man. Weidman shocked the world and he might do it again. I think I’ll go with Anderson in this one.

Renzo Gracie: (Weidman) will win again, you’ll see. He’s really tough. Of course that Anderson has a big chance, he’s a fantastic man, but it’s a bad match-up (for him). Anderson uses that (taunting) to counter attack, that’s how he won a lot of fights. His history in MMA is amazing, he’s done amazing victories with that. He’s fast and hits hard, has a stand up game that nobody else can reach, but (Weidman) has a great wrestling and jiu-jitsu, and he won’t be afraid to fight standing. I always said that if someone had a chance to defeat Anderson was this kid, nobody else would.

Gegard Mousasi: I think Anderson Silva will win, maybe by decision. I believe Anderson will win this. He does that a lot of time and gets away with it and everyone recognizes him as one of the best of all times, and one time it didn’t go well. It’s a fight. Even the best fighter can lose once. I believe he’s the No. 1 guy in the division. It’s his way of fighting, but I think he’ll be more cautious this time.

Lyoto Machida: Anderson is taking his preparation really seriously for this fight. I haven’t spoken with him too much, but I know he’s training hard. He will surprise a lot of people in this fight and take his title back with a great performance. I was surprised (with the first fight) because Anderson showed he had all the tools to win, but sometimes a mistake can make you lose the fight. It always worked, but not that night. I don’t believe Weidman is that superior. I believe Anderson is way better, more experienced. Don’t get me wrong, Weidman is a nice guy, I always talk to him when we meet, and he’s a great fighter, a great champion, but Anderson is better.

Rafael "Sapo" Natal: It’s a tough fight, but Weidman will win. I knew his potential for a long time, his jiu-jitsu, wrestling and stand up game are great. But anything can happen in a fight. Anderson was completely dominating the first fight and Weidman did a great job by connecting that punch. I think it’s 50-50, but I believe Weidman has a great chance to win this fight again. If I had to pick one to win, I’d say Weidman.

Dan Henderson: Who knows? A lot depends on how Anderson Silva takes him seriously this time. I think he didn’t take him seriously before and he will now. Weidman has a great style and obviously hits hard. He looks dangerous and has the capability to beat him again. You can’t say that (doesn’t taking Weidman seriously) that is the reason he lost. He might lose again and doesn’t do that. But it definitely doesn’t help. I just wished he had done that when I fought him.

Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante: Anderson uses that to frustrate his opponents. Imagine if you shoot five times against someone and they dodge four bullets? It’s frustrating. He’s really excited now. In my opinion, Anderson lost that fight to himself. He didn’t get in there to fight, actually. Anderson Silva is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, nobody can beat him. He will knock out Chris Weidman.

Maurício "Shogun" Rua: It’s a tough fight for both. Chris Weidman is a really good fighter, undefeated, and Anderson Silva is a phenom. Anderson has a little advantage in my opinion. He will be more focused this time, won’t play around. He’s more well-rounded and wins by TKO.

Vitor Belfort: Weidman can’t play Anderson’s game. Anderson will bring him to his game. Weidman will try to fight his fight and the whole world will be watching it. The important thing is that I’ll be focused in my training. No matter who I fight, I’ll be better next time. I know it’s hard for you to believe I can get better, but I will. I’ve learned a lot of things that I didn’t use yet.

Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza: I believe Anderson Silva will come back stronger and hungrier. That loss was a fuel for him. It’s a battle of styles. He lost the last time, but he will make (Weidman) pay. He will bring the title back to Brazil with a knockout.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva: I’ve spent two weeks in Rio with Anderson, trained with him a couple times, and he’s really focused. He’s motivated, with a completely different mindset. Fighting seriously, Anderson is unbeatable. He has good escapes on the ground and I don’t need to mention his stand up game. Sometimes a loss is more important than a win in your career. You’ll see a different Anderson Silva. It’s hard to predict how this fight will go because Weidman is a tough and well-rounded fighter, but I believe Anderson will defend the takedowns and get the knockout.

Cristiano Marcello: I think we’ll see a knockout. Anderson was dominating the first fight, forcing Weidman to move around. He’s more focused this time and (Weidman) won’t last more than three rounds.
