Lyoto Machida drops to 185, meets Tim Kennedy at UFC Fight for the Troops 3

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will make a long-discussed drop to middleweight, and his first test will be a military hero – on a military base.

Machida (19-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) will meet Tim Kennedy (16-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at the UFC's third "Fight for the Troops" show, expected to be UFC Fight Night 31. The show will take place Nov. 6 at Fort Campbell, a U.S. Army installation in Kentucky. The main card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1.

UFC President Dana White announced the fight late Wednesday on "FOX Sports Live."

Machida is coming off a controversial split-decision loss to Phil Davis at UFC 163 earlier this month. The loss dropped him to 3-3 since losing his 205-pound title to Mauricio Rua at UFC 113 more than three years ago. After losing the belt, Machida lost to Quinton Jackson, then beat Randy Couture to get another shot at the title – but was submitted by champ Jon Jones at UFC 140.

Kennedy, a Bronze Star medal winner while in the Army, made his UFC debut in July at UFC 162 and won a unanimous decision against Roger Gracie. Before coming to the UFC in the merger with Strikeforce, he was 3-1 in that organization before losing a title fight against Luke Rockhold. He finished his tenure there with a 4-2 record.

The UFC most recently did a troops show in January 2011 at Fort Hood, Texas. In December 2008, the first "Fight for the Troops" show took place in Fayetteville, N.C.

Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny set for 'Fight for the Troops 3' at Fort Campbell

A couple of veterans of "The Ultimate Fighter" will look to rebound from recent losses when they meet at the UFC's next "Fight for the Troops" show.

"TUF 11" veteran Seth Baczynski (18-10 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has signed to fight "TUF 16" semifinalist Neil Magny (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in a welterweight bout in November at UFC Fight Night 31. UFC officials announced the fight booking on Thursday.

"UFC Fight Night 31: Fight for the Troops 3" takes place Nov. 6 at at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. The main card, featuring a recently announced middleweight bout between former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Army Bronze Star winner Tim Kennedy, airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook.

Magny, who was a staff sergeant in the Army National Guard and an All-Army Combatives champion, will be looking to rebound from his first UFC loss earlier this month. Magny, a former student of ex-WEC champ Miguel Torres who now trains at Grudge Training Center in Colorado, went to Brazil to fight Sergio Moraes at UFC 163 and was submitted in the first round with a mounted triangle. That reversed his UFC debut victory over fellow "TUF 16" semifinalist Jon Manley at UFC 157 in February.

Baczynski has dropped two straight fights after a 4-0 run in his second UFC sting, including three stoppages. After a loss to Brad Tavares at the TUF 11 Finale, he went 2-0 outside the promotion, then returned with a four-fight streak that included a submission of Matt Brown, who has gone on to crack the Top 10 on a six-fight win streak. But this past December, he dropped a decision to Mike Pierce and in July was upset by newcomer Brian Melancon with a knockout with just one second left in the first round.

The UFC most recently did a troops show in January 2011 at Fort Hood, Texas. In December 2008, the first "Fight for the Troops" show took place in Fayetteville, N.C.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 31 card now includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
Rustam Khabilov vs. Jorge Masvidal
Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny

Camozzi-Larkin, Markes-Romero added to UFC's 'Fight for the Troops 3' card

The UFC's next "Fight for the Troops" show continues to fill out with the addition of a pair of middleweight fights.

Chris Camozzi (19-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) meets Lorenz Larkin (13-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), while Ronny Markes (14-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) takes on Yoel Romero (5-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC). UFC officials recently announced the fight bookings.

"UFC Fight Night 31: Fight for the Troops 3" takes place Nov. 6 at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. The main card, featuring a recently announced middleweight bout between former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Army Bronze Star winner Tim Kennedy, airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook.

The UFC most recently did a troops show in January 2011 at Fort Hood, Texas. In December 2008, the first show dubbed "Fight for the Troops" took place in Fayetteville, N.C. The promotion also did UFC Fight Night 7 at the Marine Corps base in Miramar, Calif., in 2006

Camozzi will be looking to rebound from a submission loss in May against Ronaldo Souza at UFC on FX 8 in Brazil. He took the fight on just a couple weeks' notice, filling in for Constantinos Philippou and moving up to the co-main event slot from a previous fight against Rafael Natal. The loss snapped a four-fight win streak for the "TUF 11" veteran that included wins over Nick Ring and Luiz Cane and stoppages of Nick Catone and Dustin Jacoby.

Larkin, too, will be trying to erase the memory of a controversial loss in his UFC debut in April. At UFC on FOX 7, he dropped a unanimous decision to Francis Carmont. Nearly every major media outlet scored the fight in Larkin's favor, but still he was handed his first official loss. (In 2012, he was stopped by Muhammed Lawal in a Strikeforce light heavyweight fight, but the loss was overturned to a no-contest when Lawal tested positive for a banned steroid.)

Markes will put his seven-fight win streak and perfect UFC record on the line against Romero. He was scheduled to meet Derek Brunson at UFC on FUEL TV 10 in June. But a car accident in Brazil on the way to cut weight on weigh-ins day forced him out of the fight. His three UFC victories all have gone the distance. In August 2011, he outpointed Karlos Vemola in Milwaukee. In February 2012, he took a split decision from Aaron Simpson in his debut at middleweight. Nearly a year later, he beat Andrew Craig at UFC on FX 7 in January.

Romero, a silver medal winner in wrestling at the 2000 Olympic Games for his native Cuba, debuted in the UFC in April at UFC on FOX 7. His first fight at middleweight was a highly successful one – he picked up a "Knockout of the Night" bonus for his flying knee win over Clifford Starks that came just 92 seconds into the fight. That was his first fight in 19 months after being knocked out by Rafael Cavalcante in a Strikeforce fight in September 2011. Romero was supposed to fight Derek Brunson next week at UFC 164, but a Brunson injury knocked him out of the fight, and replacement Brian Houston didn't get medical clearance. Instead, Romero will have to wait until November to try to stay perfect in the UFC.

With the additions, the UFC Fight Night 31 card now includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
Rustam Khabilov vs. Jorge Masvidal
Chris Camozzi vs. Lorenz Larkin
Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny
Ronny Markes vs. Yoel Romero

Wat me veel meer interesseert Rustam 'Suplex' Khabilov staat op de card. Genieten hoe hij zijn tegenstander weer genadeloos door de ring gaat smijten!

Bermudez vs. Lentz, Chiesa vs. Smith added to UFC's 'Fight for the Troops 3'

The UFC's next "Fight for the Troops" card is filling quickly, and Dennis Bermudez (11-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) vs. Nik Lentz (24-5-2 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) and Michael Chiesa (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) vs. Colton Smith (3-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) are the latest additions to the lineup.

UFC officials today announced the new contests for "UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3," which takes place Nov. 6 at Kentucky's Fort Campbell. Lyoto Machida drops to 185 pounds to face Tim Kennedy in the night's headliner.

Featherweight Bermudez was a finalist on "The Ultimate Fighter 14," though he came up short against Diego Brandao. However, Bermudez is unbeaten since, rattling off four straight wins in a run that includes both a "Fight of the Night" and "Submission of the Night" bonus.

Meanwhile, Lentz boasts a three-fight win streak after scoring victories over Hacran Dias, Diego Nunes and Eiji Mitsuoka. Lentz is undefeated as a featherweight after competing as a lightweight in his first nine UFC contests.

The Chiesa vs. Smith matchup sees a battle of former "The Ultimate Fighter" winners.

Chiesa was the "TUF 15" victor, upsetting Al Iaquinta in the season's live finale. He followed that up with a win over Anton Kuivanen before suffering his first career defeat in a July bout with Jorge Masivdal.

Meanwhile, Smith, an active Army Ranger, was the winner of "The Ultimate Fighter 16," upsetting a favored Mike Ricci while competing as a welterweight. He then lost his follow-up bout, suffering a TKO defeat to Robert Whittaker at May's UFC 160 event. Smith now drops to 155 pounds for the first time.

With the additions to the card, the UFC Fight Night 31 lineup now includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
Rustam Khabilov vs. Jorge Masvidal
Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny
Ronny Markes vs. Yoel Romero
Chris Camozzi vs. Lorenz Larkin
Francisco Rivera vs. George Roop
Dennis Bermudez vs. Nik Lentz

Liz Carmouche vs. Alexis Davis booked for 'UFN 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3'

A bantamweight bout between Liz Carmouche (9-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Alexis Davis (14-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has been added to "UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3."

MMAjunkie today confirmed the matchup with sources close to the event.

UFC Fight Night 31 takes place Nov. 6 at Kentucky's Fort Campbell. The bulk of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook. It's not clear where Carmouche vs. Davis will be placed on the lineup.

Carmouche, a former U.S. Marine, is one of many military vets booked of the card. She recently rebounded from a title loss to champ Ronda Rousey in her promotional debut back in February with a TKO victory over Jessica Andrade in July. The former Strikeforce title challenger is now 3-1 in her past four fights.

Davis, a Strikeforce and Invicta vet, made her UFC debut in June and scored a decision victory over Rosi Sexton. The Canadian is now 6-1 in her past seven fights, which included victories over notables such as Julie Kedzie, Amanda Nunes and Shayna Baszler.

The latest UFC Fight Night 31 lineup includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
Rustam Khabilov vs. Jorge Masvidal
Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny

James Krause vs. Bobby Green booked for UFC Fight Night 31's 'Troops' event

A lightweight bout between James Krause (20-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Bobby Green (20-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has been added to "UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3."

UFC officials confirmed the bout with foxsports.

UFC Fight Night 31 takes place Nov. 6 at Kentucky's Fort Campbell. The bulk of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook. It's not clear where Krause vs. Green will be placed on the lineup.

Krause fights for the first time since an immensely successful UFC debut. In June the WEC and RFA vet submitted Sam Stout at UFC 161, which earned him $100,000 in "Submission of the Night" and "Knockout of the Night" bonuses. It marked the Missouri-based Grindhouse MMA fighter's eighth consecutive victory overall.

Green also recently had a successful UFC debut. At UFC 156 he submitted Jacob Volkmann and earned a "Submission of the Night" bonus. The former Strikeforce fighter has won five consecutive bouts and is 9-2 over the past four years. The only losses came to Gesias Cavalcante and Tim Means.

The latest UFC Fight Night 31 lineup includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida

Amanda Nunes meets Germaine de Randamie at UFC's 'Fight for the Troops 3' card

A second women's bantamweight bout has been added to "UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3."

Amanda Nunes (8-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Germaine de Randamie (4-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will meet on the card in two months in Kentucky. UFC officials announced the fight on Monday night.

UFC Fight Night 31 takes place Nov. 6 at Kentucky's Fort Campbell. The bulk of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook. Nunes vs. de Randamie is likely to be part of the preliminary card.

Nunes made her UFC debut in August at UFC 163 in her native Brazil, earning a first-round TKO victory over Sheila Gaff a little more than two minutes into the fight. Prior to signing with the UFC, Nunes went 1-1 under the Strikeforce banner and 1-1 for Invicta FC. Now she looks for her first winning streak since rattling off six straight TKO finishes after loss in her pro debut.

De Randamie, too, won her UFC debut recently. In July, she took a split decision from Julie Kedzie at UFC on FOX 8 in Seattle. That fight was her return to the bantamweight division after a pair of fights at featherweight. The renowned Dutch kickboxer went 2-1 for Strikeforce before moving to the UFC with the merger of the two promotions.

With the addition, the latest UFC Fight Night 31 lineup includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
Rustam Khabilov vs. Jorge Masvidal
Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny
Ronny Markes vs. Yoel Romero
Chris Camozzi vs. Lorenz Larkin

Dennis Bermudez vs. Steven Siler joins UFC Fight Night 31 'Troops' lineup

Dennis Bermudez has a new opponent for November's "UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3" event.

With original opponent Nik Lentz now slated to fight Chad Mendes at UFC on FOX 9, Bermudez (11-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will take on replacement Steven Silver (23-10 MMA, 5-1 UFC), UFC officials today announced.

UFC Fight Night 31 takes place Nov. 6 at Kentucky's Fort Campbell. The bulk of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook. It's not clear where Bermudez vs. Siler will end up on the lineup.

Since losing "TUF 14" to Diego Brandao in 2011, Bermudez has posted four consecutive victories. The New Yorker has picked up two fight-night bonuses in the process, though his past two wins both came via controversial split decisions to Matt Grice and Max Holloway.

He can move up the featherweight ranks with a convincing win over Siler, who won's two straight and five of his past six. The Utah-based fighter's only loss during the span came to contender Darren Elkins. Most recently, Siler scored a 50-second knockout of former WEC champ Mike Brown at UFC Fight Night 26.

The latest UFC Fight Night 31 card now includes:

Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
Liz Carmouche vs. Alexis Davis
Ronny Markes vs. Yoel Romero
