Als Wanderlei fan zeg ik natuurlijk Wanderlei..

Maar realistisch gezien is Sonnen denk ik de betere vechter op dit moment en Silva is al zeker 5 jaar over de top.

Als wanderlei fan hoop ik dat hij hem ff goed ko slaat maar realistisch gezien wordt het gewoon de ene takedown na de andere door chael.

Chael doet trouwens heel dapper alsof die tegen iedereen wilt vechten maar heel toevallig wilt hij wel telkens tegen vechters vechten die niet bepaald bekend staan om hun worstel kwaliteiten (op jones na dan maar dat was een win win situatie voor hem). Just sayin'

Voor mij zijn beide heren toppers ze hebben veel voor de sport gedaan , Wanderlei voor mij persoonlijk meer ,dat komt omdat ik hem al volg sinds zijn eerste pride debut en er weinig saaie partijen van die man.

Ik heb nooit het idee dat Sonnen hier bang was. Gewoon klaar met het gesprek en geen zin om er een ding van te maken door de smartass opmerkingen te maken die hoogstwaarschijnlijk op het puntje van z'n tong liggen. Denk ook dat Wanderlei ook een beetje pissed off is dat hij eerst Dana z'n oogappel was en het nu Sonnen is.

Ben trouwens een enorme Wandy fan for what it's worth.

Hoop dat het gevecht er komt. Zou jammer zijn als het een anticlimax wordt doordat Chael hem met z'n worstelen domineert en z'n striking helemaal niet naar voren komt maar dat is wel een realistisch scenario. Zou prachting zijn als het in Brazilie plaats vindt en Wanderlei hem hard KO slaat.

Kan me niet voorstellen dat de meeste echte fans (lees: niet de "U-S-A U-S-A" Amerikanen) hier op zitten te wachten. Wand had voor z'n cosmetische operatie al moeten stoppen, en Chael is gewoon een blaaskaak met gruwelijke takedowns, maar een zwak record.

UFC's Chael Sonnen: Right now 'there's no opponent' for me

Although he repeatedly declined to answer questions about Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen appears to have moved on from a showdown with the Brazilian former champ.

That, or "The American Gangster" has something up his sleeve.

"I'll need some fights to happen in the middleweight division (and) fights in the light-heavyweight division," Sonnen told MMAjunkie at a Full Contact Fighting Federation event this past Saturday in Portland, Ore. "But as it stands right now, there's no opponent."

Just days after he submitted Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in a grand performance at UFC Fight Night 26, Sonnen (29-13-1 MMA, 7-6 UFC) seemed closer than ever to a fight with his longtime rival, Silva (35-12-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC). But UFC President Dana White splashed cold water on the idea, which allegedly prompted Sonnen to splash some warm water on Silva's car.

Meanwhile, Silva, who most recently knocked out Brian Stann in March, felt more like attacking Sonnen than explaining why the fight isn't going to happen.

So for now, it looks like Sonnen is in the waiting line.

"I know (Antonio Rogerio) 'Lil Nog' (Nogueira) is going to fight with 'Shogun,' so he's off the table, and the real side of it, too, is that I just got done," he said. "I just got out of the ring exactly one week ago, so I started back for practice today. It was my first time breaking a sweat, and from here on, I'm back at it.

"But I don't have any opponent. I'd really like to be part of the 20th anniversary show. I'm really looking to be part of the St-Pierre (vs.) Hendricks card."

Sonnen earlier proposed the Silva fight to take place at that event, UFC 167, which takes place Nov. 16 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. But he also welcomed the idea of appearing at UFC 168, a year-end event that takes place Dec. 28 at the same venue.

Wherever he lands, the 36-year-old fighter from West Linn, Ore., brings more career capital to the cage after his recent win, which followed back-to-back losses to now-former middleweight champ Anderson Silva and light-heavy kingpin Jon Jones.

"I'll fight one more time this year," Sonnen said. "That puts me between the St-Pierre card or the Chris Weidman card. So I would like to be part of the 20th anniversary show. But one of those two dates match up well."

Following the all out war on Fox Sports 1, Dana White spoke candidly with the media on numerous topics. Of those included Chael Sonnen versus Wanderlei Silva developments. Unfortunately “The Axe Murderer” is not only asking for too much cash (http://www.cagedinsider.com/ufc/white-says-wanderlei-asking-much-hes-retired/), but he also isn’t medically cleared, according to White.

“He’s not going to be healthy till January,” said White. “He can’t even start training till January.”
So what does Chael do in the interim? His original plan was to return to his original 185 pound division, however his main goal is to fight on the UFC’s upcoming 20th anniversary card, featuring Georges St-Pierre versus Johny Hendricks on Nov. 16 in Vegas. Who could Chael fight? Who else needs an opponent? Enter “Mr. Wonderful.”

“We talked a little bit tonight,” White said of Sonnen. “He wants to fight on that 20th anniversary card. He wants to co-main that (card). I’m working on it. That fight (against Phil Davis) could happen.”
You may have not asked for it, but it may be the best opponent for Chael to argue for a title shot once again. After defeating former 205 pound champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua recently, with a first round guillotine, it only makes sense that he would be matched up with another fellow contender in the division.
