Legacy Fighting Championship to Hold First Kickboxing Event on Jan. 16

Texas-based mixed martial arts promotion Legacy Fighting Championship will make its first official foray into the kickboxing world on Jan. 16.

The promotion recently announced its inaugural card, which will take place at the Bayou Music Center in Houston and is set to air on AXS-TV. Earlier this summer, Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard revealed that he hoped to stage three to four kickboxing events in 2015. The organization will utilize the same rules system as Glory World Series.

Legacy FC’s first kickboxing event is highlighted by a 135-pound women’s bout between Valentina Schevchenko and Lindsay Haycraft. Schevchenko, who owns a 51-1 record in muay Thai and kickboxing, is expected to make her Legacy MMA debut 30-60 days after the bout with Haycraft, according to Maynard. Haycraft, meanwhile, is 25-12 as a kickboxer and has held titles in numerous organizations.

Also set to compete on the Jan. 16 bill is Bellator MMA veteran Cosmo Alexandre, who will square off with Regian Eersel, while Michael Corley takes on Marco Pique. Meanwhile, Legacy’s next MMA event is scheduled for Sept. 26 in Tulsa, Okla.
