Afgelopen zaterdag organiseerde Mike Eykemans voor de zesde maal zijn Oldschool Martial Arts evenement in Sporthal Sportlaan. In voorgaande jaren onder andere namen en locaties gehost, maar in principe een continuering van bestaande samenwerkingen. Wederom was met M-Sports uit Alkmaar en volledig onder licentie van de FOG, iets wat de Gemeente Den Helder verplicht stelt, een zeer leuke matchmaking samengesteld die met name bestond uit lokale vechters van M-Sports en SportsArt en KB Komen uit Den Helder. Maar ook vechters uit Limburg en Duitsland wisten dit maal de weg naar het hoge noorden te vinden.

Om te beginnen dé KO van de avond deze maal in een damespartij, iets wat men niet vaak ziet. Juliana Horta van Silent Dragon klapte in de tweede ronde met een hoge trap haar tegenstandster Stacey Oosenburg zwaar tegen het canvas. Hoewel Stacey een goede partij bokste kwam de trap hard door de dekking heen en Stacey ging zwaar KO.

Al met al zat er meer dan genoeg vuurwerk tussen de 28 partijen en duurde het complete gala niet langer dan 6 uur. De partijen liepen vlot door, niet een al te lange pauze en met name na de pauze vielen de TKO's. Zal de gedachten over een aantal partijen er nog even snel uitlichten, maar er was meer dan genoeg spektakel en toevoegingen op dit verslag zijn natuurlijk altijd welkom. De sfeer was top en het publiek was in grote getale gekomen om de thuisvechters aan te moedigen. Sporthal Sportlaan zat lekker vol! Jimi van Oeveren van KB Komen kwam met name in zijn partij vanaf de tweede ronde goed door en in de derde ronde werd de druk voor Lokman Acikgoz te groot waardoor de scheidsrechter de partij staakte.

Grote talenten Davy Plieger en Damian Johanson, beide uit Den Helder maar waarbij laatstgenoemde uitkomt voor de Bonjasky Academy uit Almere vochten een enorm mooie nieuwelingenpartij die Johanson op punten naar zich toe trok. Beide heren zijn namen voor de toekomst!

Technisch mooi was de B-klasse partij van Lesly Risa en Mohammed Dadda, getraind door forumbroeder Coldcrust. Twee lichte vechters die er een erg mooie partij van maakte. Clinchen, veel trappen naar het lichaam waarbij Risa het beste van de strijd had en op punten won.

Veteraan Sherwin Wieske had met zijn 42 jaar minder dan een ronde nodig om de Duister Tony Wagner naar het canvas te sturen. Langer duurde de partij van Maurits Bal van SportsArt die met zijn 38 jaar ook niet meer de jongste is, maar was een beukpartij was dat! Guillermo Blokland van Team Snipers scoorde en won op punten ook ruimschoots de partij (2x acht tellen in de eerste twee ronden), maar "Bally" gaf die zeker niet cadeau. Met enorm veel karakter en uithoudingsvermogen zetten deze twee heren één van de partijen van de avond neer waarbij het publiek enorm meeleefde.

Voor de Helderse zussen Brouwer was de avond minder rooskleurig. Hoewel Leyla Brouwer (Mejiro Gym Fr) erg sterk begon kreeg Ceci Ramos van Team Walia gedurende de partij steeds meer grip op het verloop ervan. Met beter clinchwerk en het overnemen van het initiatief in het verloop van de strijd won ze de partij op punten. Even leek het erop dat Pinar Brouwer van Team Slamm!! in de eerste ronde korte metten maakte tegen Alyssa Leek van Kyo Thai, maar achteraf gezien verbruikte ze in haar beukoffensief al haar troeven en was de lucht er redelijk uit bij Pinar. Alyssa Leek die aangeslagen was in de eerste ronde kwam sterk terug en won uiteindelijk de partij op punten.

Hoofdpartij van de avond was de rematch tussen Regilio van den Ent en Houssain el Allaoui van Vos Gym die in september van dit jaar al eens tegen elkaar vochten op het House of Pain gala in Alkmaar. Tijdens de eerste ontmoeting verloor Houssain door middel van twee keer acht tellen in de eerste ronde waardoor het klaar was voor de Amsterdammer. Dit maal duurde het een ronde langer, in de tweede ronde tijdens het Oldschool gala in Den Helder won van den Ent alsnog op TKO en vocht hiermee in zijn thuisstad zijn laatste B-klasse partij.

Publiek geniet van mooi spektakel in sporthal Sportlaan

Den Helder – Zo’n 700 bezoekers waren zaterdgavond afgekomen op het Kickboksevenement te Den Helder. In hoog tempo zagen zij de partijen aan zich voorbij trekken en het publiek vermaakte zich prima. De deelnemers kwamen in stijl op via een verhoogd pad waar de lichteffecten en de rook een speciale opkomst garandeerden. Onder luide aanmoedigingen zochten de tegenstanders hun rode of blauwe hoek op. Voor aanvang van elke partij kregen de deelnemers een korte uitleg van de scheidsrechters.

Het ging er soms hard aan toe met hier en daar zelfs een druppeltje bloed en een knock-out van één van de vrouwelijke deelneemsters. Het respect voor de tegenstander, de scheidsrechter en de coaches viel in positieve zin op, waardoor het gevoel van fair-play ook bij deze sport duidelijk zichtbaar was.

Rond half tien was er een pauze. Tijdens deze pauze werd Angelique aangekondigd die iets met het publiek wilde delen. Angelique is de moeder van Noa. Noa is een tienjarig jongetje die in groep 7 van de basisschool zit. Je ziet niet bijzonders aan hem, maar Noa heeft een hersentumor, natuurlijk heeft dit grote gevolgen voor deze jongen. Zijn moeder deed een aangrijpend verhaal en vroeg om iets bij te dragen voor een speciale therapie voor Noa. Ze ging hierop met de collectebus rond. Op de vraag hoe ze bij het Kickboksgala terecht is gekomen laat ze weten: “Mike Eykemans is zo’n lieverd, via een ambassadeur van noa4life.nl (http://www.noa4life.nl/) kwamen we in de kickbokswereld terecht en bij een ander kickboksgala in het land hoorde hij ons verhaal en nodigde ons gelijk uit voor dit prachtige evenement in Den Helder”.

Geen wanklank
De politie controleerde voor aanvang van het evenement op de toegangswegen om mensen met vervelende bedoelingen voor te zijn. Voor zover bekend werden geen verdachte personen of zaken aangetroffen. “Geen wanklank”, aldus een tevreden organisator Mike Eykemans. “Volle bak qua bezoekers, prima voor de sfeer en natuurlijk voor de dekking van de kosten, waarvan ook de sponsoren een deel op zich namen.” Twee jaar geleden moest hij er nog veertienhonderd euro uit eigen zak bijleggen, dit jaar komt het financieel gezien dus wel goed.
