Wat dit precies inhoudt voor de partij van Nieky Holzken in Eindhoven, is op dit moment nog niet helemaal duidelijk. Meer info later deze week.

Glory is troep.

Holzken vs. Groenhart confirmed for GLORY 19

Nieky ‘The Natural’ Holzken (84-11, 44 KO’s) will welcome Murthel ‘The Predator’ Groenhart (55-16-3, 31 KO’s) back to the welterweight division on Friday, February 6.
The two are today confirmed to face off in the semi-final stage of the four-man GLORY 19 Welterweight Contender Tournament.
“Holzken finished 2013 as GLORY’s top welterweight but then had a frustrating period of inactivity in 2014 because of his shoulder. Now he’s coming back to action and he is aiming to win this tournament and remind people what he is about,” remarked Cor Hemmers, GLORY Head of Talent Operations.
“Groenhart started his GLORY career at welterweight but then went back down to lightweight. He’s very big for lightweight though and the weight cut is hard. Now he’s moving back up to welterweight and I think that will be good for him.
“Holzken and Groenhart have fought once before. It was in 2010 and it went to the extra round before Holzken won a decision. It was a very close fight and there was a lot of discussion about it afterwards. So this fight in February is a rematch that people have wanted to see for a long time, and of course it is a very important fight for their careers.”
The winner of the fight will go forward to the Welterweight Contender Tournament Final that same night, meeting the winner of the second semi-final bout. Whoever wins the final will then challenge ’Bazooka’ Joe Valtellini, the GLORY World Welterweight Champion, in late Spring.
February 6 will be Holzken’s first appearance for GLORY since winning the GLORY 13 Welterweight Tournament in December 2013; he took the first half of 2014 off to recover from his shoulder injury and in the second half of the year fought two professional boxing matches, winning both by stoppage.
Holzken’s only kickboxing fight of the year took place in Turkey on Christmas Day; he fought for a regional promotion and scored a first-round finish by way of a flying-knee/left-hook combination. With the ring-rust knocked off, he is now ready to return to GLORY.
Groenhart won the K-1 World MAX 2012 tournament as a lightweight but debuted at GLORY 2 as a welterweight, stopping former champion Marc de Bonte with a knee strike. He then dropped back down to lightweight, where he has gone 3-2 since April 2013. He is 2-0 in 2014 with both wins by stoppage.
The two losses were to former champion Davit Kiria and current champion Robin van Roosmalen respectively. Cutting to lightweight has become increasingly difficult for Groenhart and his team believe his frame is better suited to welterweight.
GLORY 19 is headlined by Rico Verhoeven (44-9-10, 23 KOs) defending the World Heavyweight Championship against bitter rival Errol ‘The Bonecrusher’ Zimmerman (103-11-1, 44 KOs). The two have fought twice before and are 1-1 against each other. GLORY 19 will be their definitive battle.
The event airs live in the US on SPIKE TV, in Canada on The Fight Network and in the UK on BT Sport. In total it will air in over 140 territories around the world. Check local listings for details.

Denk het ook niet na die KO. Zou tenminste een startverbod moeten zijn, of ze zich daaraan houden is een ander verhaal.
