Sports Hall Marino Cvetković in the Croatian coastal city of Opatija will host FFC ring third time this year December 20. The stakes are high since 40 winners of four qualifying Futures events will try to win in the finale and get a contract with FFC for 2015.

This Thursday FFC leaders revealed that the FFC 17 (FFC Futures 2014 Super Finals) event is to be headlined by experienced American fighter and former UFC champion Ricco Rordiguez who is to fight dangerous Dutch soldier, Dion Staring (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Dion-Staring-2515), in the title match.

These two excellent heavyweight fighters together have as many as 115 professional matches and there is no doubt they will have to use they knowledge and skills maximally in order to win the prestigious belt which will be handed to one of them by the FFC President, Orsat Zovko.

The super-fight fighters have more than 70 days to do the preps which will probably be quite intensive, as revealed by Dion Staring (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Dion-Staring-2515).

“My coaches Mike Passengier and Stuart Samson will come with a hell of a strategy and great tactics. My training will be at Mike’s gym and Bully's Gym in The Netherlands where I have great conditions and I’m convinced I will be completely ready for the match in Opatija”, said Dion.

“Rodriguez is excellent on the ground. I don't know if this match will be a stand-up or ground one. All I can say that I am ready to make war and give a hell of fight. Ricco is an excellent fighter with big experience and a lot of wins. He truly is a good fighter and a big name, but he also has some weak points that I could use”, revealed the Dutch fighter.

There is no doubt a belt means a lot to any fighter. “This victory will be a big one. Especially after three big losses but now I came back. Now I have the chance to be the FFC champion. I am glad Mr. Orsat presented me with this opportunity. I appreciate it,” said Staring.

“I have to thank my coaches Mike and Stuart for they believed in me, Alistair Overeem (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Alistair-Overeem-461) and Tom Derkzen for always being positive and keep me going on the track, my old fans that always support me and write all nice messages as well as my new fans in Croatia and all over the world. Thank you for your support!”
