Bellator officials announced the promotion will head to the Lone Star State in September.

Heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Tony Johnson meet in the main event of “Bellator 161: Kongo vs. Johnson,” which takes place Sept. 16 at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. It’s the promotion’s first trip to the venue.

Kongo (24-10-2 MMA, 6-2 BMMA) is currently riding a two-fight winning streak after earning decision wins over Vinicius Queiroz in February and Alexander Volkov in June 2015. It’s Kongo’s third consecutive Bellator headliner slot.

Meanwhile, Johnson (10-2 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) boasts a three-fight winning streak, including a pair of victories under the Bellator banner – a January win over Raphael Butler and an April 2015 win over Volkov.

Johnson also picked up a June 2011 win over current UFC contender Derrick Lewis at Bellator 46.

No other bouts have been announced for the card.

Anastasia Yankova meets Veta Arteaga at Bellator 161 in Texas

A women’s flyweight bout bout between Anastasia Yankova and Veta Arteaga is the latest addition to September’s Bellator 161 lineup.

MMAjunkie today confirmed the bout with a Bellator official.

Bellator 161 takes place Sept. 16 at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The main card, which includes the 125-pound bout between Yankova (3-0 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) and Arteaga (2-0 MMA, 1-0 BMMA), airs on Spike following prelims streamed on MMAjunkie.

Yankova, 25, made a successful Bellator debut in April when she submitted Anjela Pink in just 95 seconds at Bellator 152 in Italy. The performance pushed the winning streak to start off her professional career to three fights, all of which have been by submission due to some sort of armlock.

Arteaga, 28, also enters the event coming off a triumphant effort in her first Bellator contest against Jackie Vandenburgh at Bellator 155 in May. Unlike Yakova, however, Arteaga was unable to finish her opponent, going all 15 minutes and leaving the cage with a unanimous decision victory.

Both women will enter Bellator 161 with undefeated records, but only one will be able to keep hers in tact.

The latest Bellator 161 card now includes:
Cheick Kongo vs. Tony Johnson
Veta Arteaga vs. Anastasia Yankov

Joe Warren vs. Sirwan Kakai set for Bellator 161 co-main event in Texas

Bellator’s return to Texas next month has its co-main event, and it will feature a former two-division champion.

Ex-bantamweight and featherweight titleholder Joe Warren (13-5 MMA, 12-4 BMMA) will meet Sirwan Kakai (12-4 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) in the Bellator 161 co-feature. MMAjunkie confirmed the booking and placement with a Bellator official following an initial report from Flocombat.com.

Bellator 161 takes place Sept. 16 at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The main card airs on Spike following prelims on MMAjunkie.

Warren lost the bantamweight title at Bellator 135 in March 2015 to Marcos Galvao. He rebounded with a win over L.C. Davis, but in March was choked out by Darrion Caldwell at Bellator 151. He’ll be looking to get back in the win column, but still has victories in six of his past eight fights.

Kakai went 1-1 in the UFC with a win over Danny Martinez and a split-decision loss to Frankie Saenz a year ago. Then he signed with Bellator and debuted with the promotion in March. But he dropped a unanimous decision to Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 151, giving him consecutive losses for the first time in his career.

The latest Bellator 161 card now includes:

Cheick Kongo vs. Tony Johnson
Sirwan Kakai vs. Joe Warren
Veta Arteaga vs. Anastasia Yankov
