It’s been a busy day for the UFC’s return to Oregon this fall, and now the card has three more bouts added to the lineup.

According to a report from The Oregonian at OregonLive, a trio of fights are set for UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland: Sergio Pettis (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) vs. Louis Smolka (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) at flyweight; Nate Marquardt (34-16-2 MMA, 12-9 UFC) vs. Tamdan McCrory (14-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) at middleweight; and Walt Harris (8-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov (16-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at heavyweight.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland. The card will air on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. The UFC’s most recent trip to Portland was in August 2009 for UFC 102.

Pettis has won back-to-back fights over former flyweight title challenger Chris Cariaso and Chris Kelades by unanimous decision, making him 2-1 since returning to 125 pounds after starting his UFC career at bantamweight, where he went 3-1.

Smolka has won four straight fights since a split-decision loss to Cariaso, including bonus-winning knockouts of Richie Vaculik and Ben Nguyen, the latter of which came at UFC Fight Night 91 earlier this month in South Dakota. Smolka currently is ranked No. 13 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings; Pettis is an honorable mention selection.

Marquardt will be dealing with a familiar theme of trying to get back in the win column. The former Strikeforce champ and former UFC title challenger has lost six of his past eight fights, starting with his loss to Tarec Saffiedine in Strikeforce’s final event. In that bout, he lost his welterweight title. He came back to the UFC and was knocked out by Jake Ellenberger and Hector Lombard before rebounding with a submission of James Te Huna. After losses to Brad Tavares and Kelvin Gastelum, he upset C.B. Dollaway with a knockout this past December. But at UFC 198, he was knocked out by Thiago Santos. A loss to McCrory could put his UFC career in jeopardy.

McCrory had a layoff of more than five years before he returned to action nearly two years ago for Bellator. There, he shocked Brennan Ward with a 21-second knockout in not only his promotional debut, but his debut at middleweight after fighting his whole career at welterweight. He followed that up with a first-round submission of Jason Butcher at Bellator 134. THen he re-signed with the UFC, where he had gone 3-3 in his first stint before hanging up the gloves. He submitted Josh Samman in the third round at UFC on FOX 17 this past December. But in June, his three-fight winning streak was snapped with a knockout loss to Krzysztof Jotko in Canada.

Harris has won two of his past three fights, both by knockout. After starting his UFC career with back-to-back losses to Jared Rosholt and Nikita Krylov, he was let go and signed with Titan FC, for which he took out D.J. Linderman at Titan FC 28. Then he hooked back up with the UFC, but fell to Soa Palelei. But at UFC 197 earlier this year, he finally got his first UFC win with a first-round TKO of Cody East.

Dagestan’s Abdurakhimov got his first UFC win in February in Pittsburgh when he took a unanimous decision from Anthony Hamilton. Prior to that, after a 15-2 start to his pro career, he signed with the UFC, but lost a first-round TKO to Timothy Johnson at UFC Fight Night 63 in April 2015.

With the additions, the UFC Fight Night 96 lineup now includes:
Joachim Christensen vs. Luis Henrique da Silva
Will Brooks vs. Alex Oliveira
Josh Burkman vs. Bobby Green
Sergio Pettis vs. Louis Smolka
Nate Marquardt vs. Tamdan McCrory
Walt Harris vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov

Kelly Faszholz meets newcomer Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland

A UFC newcomer is on the bill for the promotion’s return to Oregon this fall.

Newly signed women’s bantamweight Ketlen Vieira (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is set to meet Kelly Faszholz (3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 96. The promotion recently announced the new booking.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland. The card will air on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. The UFC’s most recent trip to Portland was in August 2009 for UFC 102.

Vieira, from Brazil, has five stoppage wins in his her six career victories. Earlier this year against Estefani Almeida in her home country, she went the distance for the first time for a decision win. Vieira turned pro in late 2014 and started her career with five straight finishes, including three submissions.

Faszholz made her promotional debut earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 83 in Pittsburgh against Lauren Murphy on short notice. In a gritty performance that won her $50,000 for “Fight of the Night,” the prospect nearly made it the distance with Murphy, but was stopped with an elbow and punches with just five seconds left in the fight. Prior to that, the Californian had started her career with three straight submission wins.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 96 lineup now includes:

Joachim Christensen vs. Luis Henrique da Silva
Will Brooks vs. Alex Oliveira
Josh Burkman vs. Bobby Green
Sergio Pettis vs. Louis Smolka
Nate Marquardt vs. Tamdan McCrory
Walt Harris vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov
Kelly Faszholz vs. Ketlen Vieira

Hacran Dias vs. Brian Ortega added to UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland

The UFC’s return to Oregon this fall continues to build with the addition of a new featherweight matchup.

According to a report from the Los Angeles Daily News, Hacran Dias (23-4-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) will meet Brian Ortega (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 96. UFC officials have not yet made a formal announcement of the booking.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland. The card will air on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. The UFC’s most recent trip to Portland was in August 2009 for UFC 102.

Dias will try to get back in the win column after a unanimous decision loss to Cub Swanson in April at UFC on FOX 19 in Florida. That setback snapped a two-fight winning streak of decisions over Darren Elkins and Levan Makashvili. All six of the Brazilian’s fights in the UFC have gone the distance.

Ortega will be trying to stay unbeaten when he gets back in the cage. After having his UFC debut win over Mike De La Torre overturned for a positive drug test, he has a TKO win over Thiago Tavares, a submission of Diego Brandao and a knockout of Clay Guida at UFC 199 in June in front of his home fans in Southern California.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 96 lineup now includes:
Joachim Christensen vs. Luis Henrique da Silva
Will Brooks vs. Alex Oliveira
Josh Burkman vs. Bobby Green
Sergio Pettis vs. Louis Smolka
Nate Marquardt vs. Tamdan McCrory
Walt Harris vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov
Kelly Faszholz vs. Ketlen Vieira
Hacran Dias vs. Brian Ortega

The UFC today confirmed the matchup with a post on Twitter.

Dodson (18-7 MMA, 7-2 UFC) won “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 at bantamweight before moving to flyweight where he challenged – and lost to – Demetrious Johnson in a pair of bids for the 125-pound title. He returned to bantamweight in his most recent bout, a 47-second knockout of Manny Gamburyan at UFC on FOX 19. Dodson is undefeated in the UFC outside of his two bouts with Johnson.

Bobby Green withdraws from UFC Fight Night 96; UFC needs lightweight to face Josh Burkman

Citing personal issues, Bobby Green (23-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has withdrawn from next month’s UFC Fight Night 96 event.

The promotion now seeks a lightweight to face Josh Burkman (28-13 MMA, 6-8 UFC).

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. While the bout order has yet to be confirmed, the evening’s main card airs on FS1. Prelims are expected to air on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Burkman hopes to fight for the third time as a lightweight. “The People’s Warrior” debuted in the division with a decision win over K.J. Noons this past February but then lost to Paul Felder in May. Now 1-3 in his second UFC run, Burkman likely finds himself in a must-win situation.

Green’s withdrawal is the second of the day from the UFC Fight Night 96 card. MMAjunkie also reported that Brian Ortega had to withdraw from a planned bout with Hacran Dias.

With the changes to the card, UFC Fight Night 96 now includes:

Andre Fili steps in, will face Hacran Dias at UFC Fight Night 96

Things might get a little “Touchy” in Portland, with Andre Fili (15-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) stepping in to replace an injured Brian Ortega (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).

Fili now faces Brazilian grappling standout Hacran Dias (23-4-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 96. Dias is currently ranked No. 14 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings.

The new booking was first announced by the Oregonian, and MMAjunkie subsequently confirmed the new contest with UFC officials. MMAjunkie first reported Ortega’s withdrawal.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland. The card will air on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

A Team Alpha Male product, Fili returns to action for the first time since a disappointing UFC 197 knockout loss to fellow prospect Yair Rodriguez. The 26-year-old Fili has alternated wins and losses during his six UFC appearances to date, registering victories over Gabriel Benitez, Felipe Arantes and Jeremy Larsen but losing to Rodriguez, Godofredo Pepey and Max Holloway.

Dias is hoping to get back in the win column after a unanimous decision loss to Cub Swanson in April at UFC on FOX 19 in Florida. That setback snapped a two-fight winning streak of decisions over Darren Elkins and Levan Makashvili. All six of the Brazilian’s fights in the UFC have gone the distance.

Cody East vs. Curtis Blaydes slated for UFC Fight Night 96 in Oregon

A heavyweight bout has been added to next month’s UFC Fight Night 96 lineup.

Officials today announced Cody East (12-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is slated to fight Curtis Blaydes (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC).

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. The card air on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

East won 12 of his first 13 pro bouts – 11 via stoppage – and was riding a nine-fight winning streak heading into his UFC debut earlier this year. However, the 28-year-old Legacy FC and KOTC vet suffered a TKO loss to Walt Harris at UFC 197.

He looks to rebound when he meets Blaydes, a 25-year-old who went 5-0 with five TKO wins before signing with the UFC. However, in his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 86 in April, he suffered a TKO defeat (due to an eye injury) to Francis Ngannou.

The latest UFC Fight Night 96 card includes:

John Lineker vs. John Dodson
Will Brooks vs. Alex Oliveira
Sergio Pettis vs. Louis Smolka
Josh Burkman vs. TBA
Joachim Christensen vs. Luis Henrique da Silva

Zak Ottow in against Josh Burkman at UFC Fight Night 96

Zak Ottow has gotten his call-up to the big leagues. “The Barbarian” will face Josh Burkman at UFC Fight Night 96.

Burkman (28-13 MMA, 6-8 UFC) was originally set to face Bobby Green (23-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in the lightweight bout. However, Green withdrew from the bout citing “personal issues,” opening the door for Ottow (13-3 MMA, 0-0) to make his octagon debut.

A UFC official today confirmed the bout to MMAjunkie.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. While the bout order has yet to be confirmed, the evening’s main card airs on FS1. Prelims are expected to air on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In 13 professional victories, Ottow has scored 10 submissions, two knockouts and only one decision. He was scheduled to face Jos Eichelberger at Legacy FC 60 on Oct. 7 before getting the call.

Burkman debuted in the lightweight division with a decision win over K.J. Noons this past February but then lost to Paul Felder in May. Now 1-3 in his second UFC run, Burkman likely finds himself in a must-win situation.

'TUF 24' contestant Brandon Moreno in for Pettis, meets Louis Smolka at UFC Fight Night 96

Louis Smolka has had a busy day.

First, he drew the ire of the interwebs after posting a video online in which he said his scheduled UFC Fight Night 96 opponent, Sergio Pettis (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), had a “hurt vagina” as his reason for pulling out of their flyweight fight with what his trainer called a “minor injury.”

But now Smolka (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) no doubt will be hoping to put that behind him since he has a new opponent for the card: Brandon Moreno (11-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC). A UFC official confirmed the fight to MMAjunkie today following an initial report from FOXSports.com.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place Oct. 1 at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. The main card airs on FS1 following prelims on FS2 and UFC Fight Pass.

Moreno currently is a cast member on Season 24 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which features flyweight champions from other organizations around the world vying for a tournament win and a shot at UFC champ Demetrious Johnson. Moreno’s first appearance on the show, which was taped earlier this year, was a gritty performance, but a loss to Alexandre Pantoja.

Smolka has won four straight fights since a split-decision loss to Chris Cariaso, including bonus-winning knockouts of Richie Vaculik and Ben Nguyen, the latter of which came at UFC Fight Night 91 in July. Smolka currently is ranked No. 13 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings; Pettis is an honorable mention selection.

With the change, the UFC Fight Night 96 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (FS1, 11 p.m. ET)

Josh Burkman vs. Zak Ottow
Brandon Moreno vs. Louis Smolka
