Carina Damm meets Kalindra Faria for women's bantamweight title

A pair of titles will be on the line when Titan FC returns to South Florida next month.

In the Titan FC 41 main event, Carina Damm (23-12) will meet Kalindra Faria (17-5-1) for the promotion’s inaugural women’s bantamweight title. That fight is a trilogy bout – the pair is 1-1 against each other.

And in the co-feature, Farkhad Sharipov (16-6) takes on Andrew Whitney (14-4) in the final of a bantamweight tournament to determine Titan’s 135-pound men’s champ.

Promotion officials recently announced the card, which will take place Sept. 9 at Bank United Center in Coral Gables, Fla. The event will stream live on UFC Fight Pass.

Also announced for the card are four bouts pitting fighters from South Florida’s rival gyms, American Top Team and the Blackzilians. The Blackzilians’ Valdir Araujo (16-7) will meet ATT’s Taylor Krahl (7-3) in a 175-pound catchweight bout; ATT’s Steve Carl (22-5) fights Jason Jackson (5-2) at welterweight; the Blackzilians’ Demarques Jackson (5-0) fights Raush Manfio (7-1) at lightweight; and Caio Rocha (5-0) of the Blackzilians fights Aalon Cruz (3-1) at featherweight. Plus, a pair of heavyweights will make their pro debuts when Steve Mowry (0-0) takes on Romeo Valdez (0-0).

Brazilians Damm and Farina first fought in September 2009, when Damm won with a second-round TKO from a corner stoppage at a fight in Brazil. They rematched in July 2013, and Farina forced Damm to tap with a first-round armbar, also in Brazil.

Veteran Damm made her promotional debut in June at Titan FC 39. She took a unanimous decision from Sarah Alpar to snap a two-fight skid and win for the first time in more than two years. Now the 37-year-old will fight for Titan’s belt.

Faria’s losses have only come to some of the best in the world. Aside from her loss to Damm in her third pro fight, Faria has losses to recent UFC women’s strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha in 2010, Invicta standout Vanessa Porto, former WSOF champion Jessica Aguilar and likely upcoming UFC title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz, the latter of which came in February 2015 by split decision on the heels of a WSOF title fight loss to Aguilar. Since then, she has back-to-back first-round wins.

Sharipov got into the bantmaweight tourney final with a split-decision win over Bruce Lutchmedial at Titan FC 40 earlier this month. That was the Bellator vet’s promotional debut and gave him back-to-back wins after losing three of four. Whitney reached the final with a second-round TKO of Anderson dos Santos at the same event, giving him four straight wins and a 5-1 career mark for Titan.

The Titan FC 41 lineup includes:

Carina Damm vs. Kalindra Faria – for inaugural women’s bantamweight title
Farkhad Sharipov vs. Andrew Whitney – for vacant bantamweight title
Valdir Araujo vs. Taylor Krahl
Steve Carl vs. Jason Jackson
Demarques Jackson vs. Raush Manfio
Aalon Cruz vs. Caio Rocha
Steve Mowry vs. Romeo Valdez
