Rashad Evans confirms middleweight bout with Tim Kennedy at UFC 205 in NYC
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will make his middleweight debut at UFC 205 – and his opponent will be a former teammate.
A 185-pound bout between Evans (19-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC) and Tim Kennedy (18-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is the latest addition to November’s milestone UFC 205 lineup.
Evans confirmed the matchup and his change in weight class on tonight’s Titan FC 41 broadcast on UFC Fight Pass. FloCombat and MMAFighting.com previously reported the bout.
UFC 205 takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
After winning “The Ultimate Fighter 2” in 2005 as a heavyweight and spending all but one of his UFC fights at light heavyweight, Evans makes a career change by moving to middleweight at a crucial time. “Suga” is riding a two-fight skid and is just 2-4 overall in his past six fights.
Evans, No. 9 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA light-heavyweight rankings, has only competed twice in the past three years. Injuries have kept him out of the octagon, and since returning, he’s struggled, with his more recent bout a first-round knockout loss to Glover Teixeira at UFC on FOX 19 in April. He’ll try to get back on track against Kennedy, who trains at his former camp of Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M.
Kennedy, meanwhile, returns to competition for the first time since a controversial third-round TKO loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 in September 2014.
The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for Kennedy, who’s ranked No. 9, with the most recent a unanimous decision over current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping in April 2014. Kennedy attempts to add another UFC champion to his list of wins when he takes on Evans.

New York krijgt Weidman, als hij fit blijft natuurlijk. Romero is wel een gevaarlijke tegenstander. Deze divisie heeft nu wel mooie en duidelijke match ups. Deze, Rockhold vs Jacare en natuurlijk Mousasi vs Vitor. Alleen zo jammer van Bisping vs Henderson als titelgevecht.
Overigens zou ook Frankie Edgar op deze card gaan uitkomen. Logisch. Jeremy Stephens is de (on)gelukkige.

Tyron Woodley may have wanted a “money fight” against Nick Diaz or Georges St-Pierre in his first welterweight title defense, but it will be Stephen Thompson standing across the octagon at UFC 205.
Woodley (16-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) confirmed the bout with Thompson (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) on the pre-show for the UFC Fight Night 94 ceremonial weigh-ins.
UFC 205 takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The event airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Woodley, the No. 1 ranked fighter in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA welterweight rankings, captured the title with a first-round knockout of Robbie Lawler at UFC 201. Thompson had established his position as the top contender to the belt – and No. 2 ranking – with a dominant unanimous decision win over Rory MacDonald a month earlier at UFC Fight Night 89.
While Thompson’s seven-fight winning streak and increasingly dominant performances earned UFC President Dana White’s seal of approval as the first challenger to Woodley’s crown, the allure of big dollars to face St-Pierre or Diaz in their octagon returns had Woodley at odds with the UFC.
The situation appears to have been settled, however, and the UFC’s first trip to New York City has its first title fight.

Former title challenger Liz Carmouche (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC), who’s No. 12 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s bantamweight rankings, is slated to fight Katlyn Chookagian (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who’s an honorable mention and just outside the rankings’ top 15.
UFC 205 takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The event airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Carmouche hasn’t fought since her April 2015 decision victory over Lauren Murphy. Carmouche, a 32-year-old former Marine and Strikefore vet who lost to them-champ Ronda Rousey in her 2013 UFC debut, was on a 1-3 skid before the much-needed win over Murphy.
Chookagian, a 27-year-old CFFC vet, made her UFC debut in July and scored a decision victory over Murphy. After a long and successful amateur run, she’s now 8-0 with five decision wins since her 2014 pro debut.

Zoals het er nu naar uitziet gaan we dus de ww-title krijgen en de lw-title. Deze card wordt echt 1000x beter dan UFC 200.

205 Lijkt me nog niet mogelijk hoor, vanwege de USADA regels betreffende GSP. Maar 206 moet wel kunnen, in Toronto (volgens mij al eerder genoemd in een thread hier).
Octagonhoer McGregor lijkt me dan PPV-wise het meest interessant.

On FS1’s “UFC Tonight,” reporter Megan Olivi confirmed several bouts for the event, which takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Olivi said UFC President Dana White confirmed several bouts, including a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone (31-7 MMA, 18-4 UFC) and Kelvin Gastelum (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC); Rashad Evans (19-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC) vs. Tim Kennedy (18-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) at middleweight; Liz Carmouche (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) against Katlyn Chookagian (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a women’s bantamweight clash; a featherweight battle between Frankie Edgar (20-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC) and Jeremy Stephens (25-12 MMA, 12-11 UFC); and Tim Boetsch (19-10 MMA, 10-9 UFC) vs. Rafael Natal (21-7-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) at middleweight.
Edgar vs. Stephens and Boetsch vs. Natal were previously not reported by MMAjunkie.
Edgar, ranked No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, has gone 5-2 since dropping a weight class. He has five wins sandwiched by losses to Jose Aldo during his time at 145 pounds. His first loss to Aldo at UFC 156 was for the featherweight title. The second was a decision loss for the interim title at UFC 200.
Stephens, ranked No. 12, picked up a big win over former bantamweight champ Renan Barao at UFC Fight Night 88. Prior to the victory, he was on a 1-3 run in his previous four bouts.
Coming into UFC Fight Night 91 on a three-fight losing skid, Boetsch pulled off an impressive, dominant upset of Josh Samman. The bout ended by TKO in the second round. The victory was his first since an August 2014 win over Brad Tavares at UFC Fight Night 47.
In his most recent outing, Natal had a four-fight winning streak snapped. Robert Whittaker scored a unanimous decision win over Natal at UFC 197. Prior to the defeat, Natal had picked up wins over Kevin Casey, Uriah Hall, Tom Watson, Chris Camozzi.

A welterweight bout between Lyman Good (19-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Belal Muhammad (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is the latest addition to UFC 205.

Good, a 31-year-old New Yorker, was an early Bellator champion who made his UFC debut in 2015. Fresh off a CFFC title victory, he met Andrew Craig in his promotional debut and scored a second-round knockout victory. He’s now on a five-fight winning streak and is 8-1 (with one no-contest) in his past 10 fights.
He now returns from an injury layoff and meets Muhammad, a former Titan FC and Bellator fighter who made his UFC debut in 2015 and suffered a decision loss to Alan Jouban. However, the 28-year-old rebounded at the recent UFC Fight Night 94 event in Texas and earned a TKO win over Augusto Montano.
The UFC 205 card now includes:

Khabib heeft het ook een beetje aan zijn zwakke lichaam te wijten. Hij is er bijna drie jaar uit geweest. Als hij fit was geweest had hij sowieso al een shot gehad.

Conor McGregor gets lightweight title shot, challenges Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205 headliner
One of the most monumental fight cards in UFC history will have a monumental main event. UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will attempt to add lightweight gold to his collection when he challenges Eddie Alvarez in the UFC 205 headliner, which marks the organization’s return to New York after more than 21 years.
UFC officials tonight confirmed the matchup. Twitter user @TalkMMA was first to report the news.

Alvarez (28-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) vs. McGregor (20-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) marks the third championship fight slated for the UFC 205 lineup. Welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley meets Stephen Thompson while strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk faces Polish country mate Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
Immediately after capturing the 155-pound strap with a first-round TKO of Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90 in December, Alvarez, No. 1 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, set his sights on “The Notorious,” calling him a “gimme fight” after starting his UFC tenure with consecutive matchups against dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis, Gilbert Melendez and Donald Cerrone.
“This guy (dos Anjos) to the right of me, is the best in the division,” Alvarez said at UFC Fight Night 90’s post-fight news conference. “To be able to come out with a win over him and before him was (Anthony) Pettis, before him was Gilbert (Melendez). These are the best guys in the division. I’m not taking on top 15 guys. I would ask Dana White please to give me an easier fight like Conor McGregor. I deserve that. I’ve been fighting the best guys. I would like a gimme fight. So, Conor? I more than welcome that.”
It was unknown if Alvarez would get his wish, particularly because the promotion recently stated he would likely put his belt on the line against No. 2-ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov at December’s UFC 206 event in Toronto. That obviously didn’t come to fruition, however, and Nurmagomedov expressed his frustration on social media (via Twitter).
No. 1-ranked featherweight McGregor, meanwhile, has been targeting the lightweight belt since the moment he picked up the 145-pound strap with a 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in December. The brash Irishman was supposed to go for his second UFC belt at UFC 196 in March, but when dos Anjos suffered an injury it opened the door for Nate Diaz to step in and upset McGregor to begin their now infamous rivalry.
After the loss at UFC 196, McGregor demanded a rematch with Diaz. Following much drama and uncertainty, the pair finally had a second showdown at UFC 202 in August. It was a grueling five-round battle, but McGregor came out on the winning end of a majority decision to avenge his only octagon defeat.
Despite going through the traumatizing rematch with Diaz, McGregor will return to competition less than three months later with the opportunity make history. UFC President Dana White said he would not be stripped of the 145-pound title, meaning he can join B.J. Penn and Randy Couture as the only fighters in UFC history to win belts in multiple weight classes in a single career. More importantly, though, McGregor will gets the chance to be the first to hold two titles simultaneously.
Alvarez and McGregor will both appear, along with other notables from the card, at a special UFC 205 press conference at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.

UFC President Dana White today confirmed that top lightweight contenders Michael Johnson (17-10 MMA, 9-6 UFC) and Khabib Nurmagomedov (23-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) will also meet on the card.
White today revealed the fight is official during a pre-fight press conference in New York to promote the upcoming event. Earlier today, White appeared on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and revealed the promotion was working on the contest. According to the UFC boss, it’s now set.
Nurmagomedov is currently ranked No. 2 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, while Johnson checks in at No. 12.

Viel me ook op dat Alvarez af en toe zelf begon, maar uiteindelijk niet mee kon en maar ongemakkelijk begon te lachen

Wat een zieke kaart is dit zeg ongelooflijk.
Hoop dat Conor naar LW gaat en blijft een hele hoop mooie partijen al had ik graag pettis vs McGregor gezien.
Dadelijk diaz vs McGregor 3 voor de LW titel word gewoon super dit en anders Khabib maar champ.
LW divisie word heel interessant nu veel titelkandidaten.
Ook lekker weinig blessures dit jaar, dat helpt wel in de opbouw van de spanning naar een event toe. Maar deze is wel errug vet hoor.

UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden features Gotham-sized six-fight main card
To say the UFC is pulling out all the stops for its first trip to Madison Square Garden in New York City is an understatement.
Everyone seemed to sense UFC 205 was going to be a big deal – a Gotham-sized pay-per-view worthy of “The City That Never Sleeps.” As the weeks went on and there was no official news about bookings, everyone wondered just what might be in store and when we’d find out.
And when the news hit, it was worth the wait. UFC 205, which takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden with a main card on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, will feature not one title fight … not two title fights … but three. Three championship bouts at the top of the bill
And leading them all is a fight between a pair of champs, giving featherweight champ Conor McGregor (20-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) the chance to become the first simultaneous two-division titleholder in UFC history when he tries to upend lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez (28-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC).
But there are two other fights worth of main event status right below that. Welterweight champ Tyron Woodley (16-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) defends his belt for the first time when he meets Stephen Thompson (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC), and women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) takes on Polish countrywoman Karolina Kowalkiewicz (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).
The crazy thing, though, is that the UFC probably could’ve had three title fights on the main card and called it a day – and could have justified it. But that wasn’t big enough for the “Big Apple.” And that meant the promotion eschewed its tradition of having five fights on the main card of pay-per-views and went one stronger – with six.
The promotion confirmed on Saturday UFC 205 will feature a six-fight main card with Yoel Romero (12-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) vs. former champ Chris Weidman (13-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) in a key middleweight bout, Donald Cerrone (31-7 MMA, 18-4 UFC) vs. Kelvin Gastelum (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at welterweight, and Raquel Pennington (8-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) vs. former champ Miesha Tate (18-6 MMA, 5-3 UFC) in a women’s bantamweight bout to open the pay-per-view portion.
This won’t be the first time the UFC has gone heavy on a pay-per-view’s main card, though. For UFC 190 in Brazil in August 2015, the promotion had a whopping seven fights on the main card, headlined by then-women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey in what was a 34-second knockout win over Bethe Correia.
But the reality is, the fights on the prelims feel like they could be on a main card with the likes of Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy, Frankie Edgar vs. Jeremy Stephens, Michael Johnson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov and Thiago Alves vs. Jim Miller.

FAN-MADE UFC 205 PROMOOct 15, 2016 Op 12 november zal de UFC met UFC 205 hun langverwachte debuut in New York City maken. Dit evenement heeft een top matchmaking en is het hoogtepunt van een lange en moeizame juridische strijd om het mixed martial arts in de staat New York te legaliseren.
In de main event van de avond neemt de regerend UFC vedergewicht kampioen Conor McGregor het voor de UFC lichtgewicht titel op tegen kampioen Eddie Alvarez. Mocht McGregor dit gevecht winnen dan is hij de eerste vechter in de geschiedenis van de UFC die in twee gewichtsklassen tegelijk kampioen is.

Vicente Luque replaces Lyman Good at UFC 205 in New York City
After losing his original matchup, Belal Muhammad has a new opponent for UFC 205.
As reported on Monday, Muhammad’s (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) original opponent, welterweight Lyman Good (19-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC), has been removed from the card due to a potential anti-doping violation, according to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Vicente Luque (10-5-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has stepped in as a replacement, UFC officials today confirmed with newsday.com.
UFC 205 takes place Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Muhammad, a former Titan FC and Bellator fighter, made his UFC debut in July and suffered a decision loss to Alan Jouban. However, the 28-year-old rebounded at September’s UFC Fight Night 94 event in Texas and earned a TKO win over Augusto Montano. It was his fourth knockout in 10 career wins.
Luque, who appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter 21,” suffered a decision loss to Michael Graves at the show’s live finale. However, the 24-year-old Blackzilians fighter has since rebounded with three consecutive UFC wins, which included a recent “Performance of the Night” bonus for his 60-second knockout victory over Hector Urbina.

Nou zie ik dat Fox UFC 205 zowel op fox 2 en Fox 4 uitzend. Ik meen ergens gelezen te hebben dat de ene Engelstalig is en de andere Nederlandstalig. Ik wil natuurlijk het Engelse commentaar. Weet iemand bij welke kanaal ik moet wezen? dit ivm voor het instellen van de recorder.

Nou zie ik dat Fox UFC 205 zowel op fox 2 en Fox 4 uitzend. Ik meen ergens gelezen te hebben dat de ene Engelstalig is en de andere Nederlandstalig. Ik wil natuurlijk het Engelse commentaar. Weet iemand bij welke kanaal ik moet wezen? dit ivm voor het instellen van de recorder.

Die mcGregor kan me gestolen worden. Ik wilde Rashad zien in zijn nieuwe gewichtsklasse en ik wilde Gastellum/Ceroone zien. Gaan die beiden niet door ; kutzooi. Ik ben dikke fan van Gastellum maar ik ben er wel klaar mee. Wat een paardelul.
En voor de 10.000e keer; Wegen 1 week van tevoren en op de avond van de partij. Beide keren op gewicht zijn anders al het geld naar de tegenstander.
Ben je van dat gelul af; ik loop mooi op schema want hoef nog maar 20 pond en de weging is pas over 3 uur.
Rashad kan er niks aan doen. Even wachten tot die partij toch doorgaat.

Ik vind het echt zuur voor Cerrone, die gast is altijd professioneel, altijd op gewicht en vecht iedereen ongeacht plaats/tijd. En vaak wordt hij door dit soort zaken genaaid.

haha die Dana, ik lig in een deuk als hij weer eens tussen twee kemphanen staat.
Die weigh-in was niet normaal zo druk.
Mooie verassing ook met Rousey en Nunes, als ik zo dat vuur bij Rousey in haar ogen zag, denk ik echt dat ze Nunes sloopt.

Ja tot zijn partij tegen mendes vond ik heb echt super tof en gevat in interviews en pers conferenties daarna is het berg afwaarts met hem gegaan in de media vind ik al kan ik er soms nog steeds om lachen.
Als vechter ben ik nog steeds fan hem in de Octagon is McG een baas een briljant vechter geniet keer op keer van hem.
Helaas is hij idd los aant raken van de realiteit.
Is ook moeilijk die man is in 3 jaar tijd van nobody en bijstand naar wereldster en multi miljonair gegaan en allemaal ja knikkers om zich heen!

Een bewijs dat hij verder van de realiteit raakt is het feit dat hij grotere zwaardere vechters uitdaagt ik respecteer zijn lef en hart maar het is gewoon geen schande om jezelf te beperken binnen je eigen gewicht(en) als je realistisch wil blijven en serieus genomen wil worden.
Ik geef hem 0 procent kans tegen woodley lawler en elke top 5 welterweight en min 0 tegen elke middleweight lightheavyweight en heavyweight, diep in zijn hart weet hij het wel als je de controle over de ego verliest ben je zelfdestructief bezig, ik hoop dat hij zijn persona een beetje bijschaafd of hij wint of verliest.
