The card for Bellator 162 continues to come together with the addition of three bouts, two scheduled for the main card.

In a press release today, the promotion announced a middleweight bout between Hisaki Kato (6-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) and A.J. Matthews (8-5 MMA, 4-3 BMMA) and a lightweight bout featuring Ryan Couture (10-4 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) and Goiti Yamauchi (19-3 MMA, 5-2 BMMA) scheduled for the main card. In addition, Ricky Rainey (11-4 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) and Gilbert Smith (12-5 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) meet in a welterweight preliminary bout.

Bellator 162 will take place Oct. 21 at FedEx Forum in Memphis. The main card will air on Spike following prelims on MMAjunkie.

After scoring a knockout of Joe Schilling in his Bellator debut, Kato was knocked out by Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 146. He rebounded from the defeat with a 64-second TKO of Yuta Watanabe at Rizin FF in April in his most recent fight.

Matthews is on a two-fight losing skid. Most recently, he lost a unanimous decision to Ben Reiter at Bellator 156. In his two previous Bellator fights, Matthews picked up a pair of TKO victories.

Couture had a four-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing, a brutal knockout at the hands of Patricky Freire at Bellator 148 in January. Yamauchi had his own three-fight winning streak snapped in his previous showing. Bubba Jenkins took a decision win over the Japanese fighter at Bellator 151.

Rainey and Smith are both coming off losses following two-fight winning streaks.

With the additions, the Bellator 162 card includes:
