Brandon Moreno, Nate Marquardt, Luis Henrique de Silva and Curtis Blaydes each earned $50,000 bonuses for their efforts at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 96 event.

All four picked up “Performance of the Night” awards. No “Fight of the Night” honors were given – despite a main event that many lauded immediately after as a potential “Fight of the Year” candidate.

UFC officials announced the figures following the event.

Moreno (12-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his UFC debut on just a week’s notice and was the biggest underdog on the card. But he took out highly regarded flyweight Louis Smolka (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), who was more than a 5-1 favorite, with a first-round guillotine choke.

Marquardt (35-16-2 MMA, 13-9 UFC) had the night’s best highlight-reel moment when he stopped Tamdan McCrory (14-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) with a head kick late in the second round of their middleweight fight to close out the Fight Pass-streamed prelims.

Da Silva (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) was a perfect 11-0 with 11 knockouts on his resume when he stepped in against UFC newcomer Joachim Christensen (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC). And though it looked like if there was going to be any kind of stoppage, it would come by knockout, da Silva surprised everyone by submitting Christensen with an armbar late in the second.

Blaydes (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had the benefit of a full training camp and a new team on his side, and Cody East (12-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) paid the price for it. Blaydes and East slugged it out and took each other down, but a couple minutes into the second round Blaydes put East away with vicious elbows to the head.

John Lineker (29-7 MMA, 10-2 UFC), who topped John Dodson (18-8 MMA, 7-3 UFC) by split decision in the bantamweight headliner, was not eligible for a bonus because he missed weight – which may have not only eliminated his shot at a bonus, but Dodson’s, as well, in what otherwise would’ve been an almost certain “Fight of the Night” winner.

Daarvoor was het too close.
