Tito Ortiz

This next show could impact Tito's wallet seriously in one way or another. When he renegotiated his last deal his management was adamant about a clause that pays him more if PPV buys are over a certain amount. They are confident that he is the major draw for UFC and they wanted a contract that rewarded him if UFC gets big PPV #'s. Randy Couture also has a similar contract.

Couture and Lindland

Speaking of Couture, he is using his influence as UFC LHW Champion to get Matt Lindland back in UFC. Lindland currently does not have a contract with UFC at the moment but expect UFC to use him down the road as Randy continues to pressure them. He won't make the money he used to but he most likely will fight for UFC under one fight deals from now on.

Frank Trigg

You may have noticed that Frank Trigg is everywhere. Doing a radio show, at an NFL camp, commentating on NHB shows, developing a clothing line, working as a bodyguard for "high value" targets and other things. From what I hear from a guy that trains at the gym in LA is that Trigg has been everywhere except working out and training. He has been seen very little at the gym. Speculation is that he may be working out elsewhere.

BJ Penn vs ZUFFA

Look for some legal decision soon on the BJ Penn vs Zuffa case. Specifically on the issue of UFC having a title fight in the next show. Zuffa has told the camps of Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre that the fight will go on regardless of the decision. It is all in the matter of if the fight is an official "title fight". ZUFFA is very confident, almost overly that they will prevail.

170lbs Division

UFC is running the risk of having Matt Hughes and Charuto Verissimo winning, and thus having to create a rematch. Most think that these two guys are the class of the division by far. The question is who wants to see another match with both of them fighting each other? Both Hughes and Verissimo will be substantial favorites in their upcoming fights.

HW Division

Outlook for the HW division is currently a mess with Frank Mir getting in that motorcycle accident. Dana White wants to now use this opportunity to make some spots for up and comers that will fight cheap and try to impress. There are some questions on when Tim Sylvia will be ready, but from what I am told Sylvia has done everything right since his surgeries. He has done everything possible to get his cardio up, and he has worked very, very hard to rehabilitate. Look for him to fight in the first show after the New Year.
