Bobby chan is one of the wildest guys to hit Japanese TV in awhile. Although everyone laughs AT him and not WITH him, he is pretty hilarious. His terrible Japanese (which is fake Im sure, he is probably not bad at all) and goofy ass antics make him just another funny kokujin in Japan. Him and Sapp offer wild gaijin entertainment, which people cant get enough of.
As boobs previously mentioned, a fight with Akebono wouldnt be too odd if it happened. I would like to see it. I still wanna find that footage of Bobby chan x Royce. Sounds like comedy.

Hele vage verhalen gaan er rond over hem... Ik probeer het allemaal nog te vinden.

Het schijnt dat die Bobby tegen Royce Gracie heeft gevochten.

The fight did happen, though it was somewhat of a semi-worked fight for a Japanese TV program called Karakuri-terebi

Bobby is just a fucking strong guy with zero skills. Royce came to Japan for the match that went for 2, 3 minute rounds.

First round was funny as I guess Royce was kinda playing with Bobby, and Bobby was messing around.

Second round Bobby fucking busted Royce wide open with a big cut above the right eye. Blood was pissing out. Royce then armbarred Bobby.

Bobby is a Nigerian guy who is in a kind of "whacky gaijin who can never get Japanese right" kind of role on this weekly variety show. A white guy who grew up in Japan, Thane Camus (I heard somewhere he is a grandson of famed, ill-tempered Frenchman Albert) is like the Japanese language and culture "teacher" to a couple of nutty African guys. Comedy ensues weekly. Anyway, Bobby is pretty athletic and pretty strong -- 93 kilos and pretty cut. They showed him benching 110kg repeatedly while cracking jokes at the beginning of this whole training episode thing a few weeks ago. Anyway, he says he is intrigued by Bob Sapp's success in Japan and wants to give MMA a try, so... they set him up with some training with some Pancrase guys, and set up a "fight" for him with Royce. Fun, fun, fun.

There's a weekly Japanese tv show, in prime time, that is like a collection of stupid home videos (people falling over at weddings, animals opening doors - that kind of thing)/ It has famous studio guests and also has comedy vignettes.

One week they found a Nigerian guy called Bobby Olgun. They were trying to do a 'Sapp' with him. He's 93kg, pretty athletic and speaks decent Japanese. He's also pretty funny, which is probably why they picked him. The idea was to take him as a complete novice and give him 2 weeks to train for a mma fight.

They showed him sparring with a thai kickboxer (who carried him, of course) and also Kikuta in grappling. Then Grabaka trained him at Pancrase Tokyo. For two weeks (i.e. two shows) they had 15 minute features on his training, mostly comedy vignettes.

He was signed to fight Royce so he got interviewed and they had a press conference. The fight was a special one-off at Differ Ariake, a small hall where they hold Deep, Smack Girl and Zst shows.

It had all the makings of an exhibition bout rather than a real one. It looked like Olgun was genuinely trying to win, but so totally outclassed that it looked like Royce was just playing with him. There was no punching in round one (three three minute rounds) - Bobby because he couldn't due to Royce's arm control, and Royce had chances but didn't take them.

Then in round two Royce somehow got cut over his eye, pretty badly too. Not sure how because the tv show skipped part of the fight. One second they were clinching and the next Royce was in mount and covered in blood. Suddenly Royce got serious, you could see it in his body language and his face. Also because he then IMMEDIATELY armbarred the guy.

He also seemed very pissed off in the in-ring interview. Pre-fight he'd been full of jokes. I think it was one of those exhibitions bouts that becomes a real fight. Royce definately didn't 'blade'. The cut was right over his eye, in exactly the same position boxers get them, and looks like it won't heal easy. If he'd bladed it would've been the top of his forehead.
